YouGov have held a snap poll, suggests 68% of Britons want him to resign. But I keep thinking back to what his teacher at Eton wrote about him “Boris really has adopted a disgracefully cavalier attitude to his classical studies . . . Boris sometimes seems affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility (and surprised at the same time that he was not appointed Captain of the School for next half): I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else.” Have we not all encountered someone like him in our lives and watched as a trail of disaster was left behind them? I've certainly worked with someone exactly like him, immoral, unprincipled and used to people fawning over them which gave them an inflated opinion of themselves. I was looking at footage from the Cabinet Room earlier and I did not have a clue who the majority of people there were nor the position they held. Prior to this Government I could always name the majority and their post.

As an American, my knowledge of UK politicians has risen and fallen over the years. However, many years ago we started watching Top Gear and all of Jeremy Clarkson’s digs about Johnson from before he was even Mayor of London, stuck with me as he got closer and closer and eventually to #10. Blithering idiot, indeed.

Boris is the UK version of Trump. He will remain PM until the next election. I was in England during the vote of no confidence last month. He’s still in office….

I wouldn't go quite that far but yes he's certainly got a loose relationship with the truth sometimes As for staying until the next election...the next 2 weeks before the parliamentary recess will be critical.

So, any UK peas going to watch PMQs in a few minutes? Should be interesting I missed it - was it brutal? It put my blood pressure up! It was pretty much as I expected except for one bit of info from Starmer about the victim. When the victim reported the assault to a woman from the Tory party she asked if he was gay, he said yes, then she said that could be a problem. Nice bit of victim shaming, Boris was asked directly about that and danced around it, of course.

For all his bluster (and his slippery piglet reputation) I do wonder if he'll be able to shake this off don't you?

One person I haven't seen or have missed info on is Priti Patel, couldn't spot her at PMQs and she would be senior to Nadine. Nadine was sitting two away from Boris. Wonder what he will have to say after the Liaison committee meeting.

So not actually her own words. Interesting. Seems to be behind Boris to the point of being out of sight!

BBC reporting a group of senior cabinet ministers will visit Boris to say it's time to go. Group is reported to include the Chief Whip, Grant Shapps and Brandon Lewis.

How much power do they have to insist he goes? After the recent no-confidence vote, they can't have another one just yet can they? What happens if he digs his heels in and refuses to quit? Because I am not so sure he will be willing to go.

Just been watching some footage from the Liaison Committee. They let him off the hook! They did not keep pressing him for definitive answers.

Lord Heseltine seems pretty sure he'll soon be gone, via the 1922 committee. Do you really think the committee will change the rules? (As to BJ resigning, I'm not sure he knows how to resign as he's always been sacked. Lol.)

Because I am not so sure he will be willing to go. I believe their best hope is for the election of anti-Boris bods to the 1922 select committee so that they can change the rules and have another vote of confidence. Apparently this could happen in the next 2 weeks, if I remember correctly.

Zahawi is among those telling him to resign! Sort of hilarious if it wasn't so serious. Maybe he has leadership ambitions for the future and he doesn't want to be caught on the wrong side as the momentum is moving faster and faster

There was something about his demeanour which made me think why take the poisoned chalice unless he wanted the top job.
