lizacreates Thank you for the welcome back x Agreeing with you completely again . Personally I wish there was a way to elect someone who could try to rejoin us with Europe. I think that things in the UK are very extreme at the moment and I am hoping that the pendulum has swung as far as it can and will now return to a more central position. I just don’t know what will happen though as common sense seems to be absent , there needs to a complete culture change.

This is hardly succor, but know that at least you don’t have a party like our GOP. Your “extreme” there is center/moderate here for the Republicans. That’s how radically extreme they are. I’m not kidding when I say they’re fascists. And there’s a fairly good chance they’ll be in power again. What else can I say but good luck to both our countries.

I think things in lots of countries not just UK and US are concerning.
Over here they have recently changed laws to remove the right to to have peaceful protest.
Other things the UK government has done in the past few years or sooner.
They have been refusing to answer FOI requests.
They tried to make a law sending people who have illegally entered the country to Rwanda no matter where they originated from. Rwanda is infamous for it’s genocide history.
They are seeking to remove the European court of human rights.
At some point they told the Coastguard not to rescue people illegally crossing the Channel in boats which would mean they would drown.
The United Nations also concluded in their report that the UK was guilty of human rights abuse towards disabled people.
A few years back they used to give Hospitals target numbers to reach for dehydrating people to death via kidney failure. The hospitals were rewarded financially. This was known as the Liverpool Care Plan and was supposed to have been carried out with family consent but it was done secretly to many families including my own. Water would be provided to patients on their bedside table , but the patients were too ill to pick up the glass and drink, staff were deliberately forbidden from helping , only allowed to give occasional moisture on lips but no liquid. I saw a FOI figure from a Panorama TV investigation programme for my Mum’s hospital . In order to meet their government set target , they would need to do this to around 10 patients per week with a financial reward of £15,000 per patient. The figure was an annual one , but I broke it down to weekly. I found out that my Mum died this way afterwards sadly. A woman from the same hospital region took the matter to the House of Lords to help get it stopped because her Mum had been lost the same way.
I tried to work out why this was happening and I guess this was to cut the cost of medical and social care and pensions but don’t really know.
That is just a fraction of what has been happening and some of it has been very recent.
I hope things will change wherever there is such injustice in our countries.

@lettuceagain That’s godawful. That is simply unforgivable. I am so very sorry about what happened to your mum. Truly, I am.
