Priti Patel is among them it seems…
Among the ones calling for him to resign? The news seems to say so. Michael Gove has been sacked too.
No idea why this is coming out bold! Not intentional.

When the house is burning, I guess the only thing one can do is pour some petrol on it. Boris needed to do something, so he sacked Michael Gove

It is like watching a car crash in slow motion. 42 have resigned now.

No idea why this is coming out bold! Not intentional. Yes. The only ones I can see as being firmly still pro Boris are Nadine flippin' Dorries and the 1950s ridiculous upper class twit whose name escapes me for the minute.

I think Patel was waiting to see how things panned out before declaring allegiance or otherwise. I’ve not seen footage of her for ages. Is she even in the country now?

Today was the first time I've heard her name mentioned for ages...I think she's in the country but certainly seems to be keeping a low profile.

Now there’s a man with a backpfeifengesicht, as my German friends would say. (A face in need of a fist, in case you haven’t come across the word! 😄)

Bye Boris, took you long enough to realise the end was nigh.
He is resigning today and will stay as caretaker through the summer recess until a new PM is appointed. Man, THAT should be interesting.

Good riddance. He is a national embarrassment.
Apparently he will stay in post until a successor is found, instead of effing off. So no immediate change then.

There is no one I can think of, of sufficient stature, to take on the role at the moment.

Someone mentioned Liz Truss yesterday and another woman I hadn’t heard of as being ‘the darling’ of upcoming conservatives. Liz Truss comes across as completely incompetent!

Liz Truss can stand but she surely won't get in!
I wonder if Matt Hancock will stick his head above the parapet.

Watching BBC World news right now, and the commentator has a long list of potential candidates for leadership. Neither Liz Truss nor Priti Patel have been mentioned.

I was out running errands when the news broke so am now sitting down with a cuppa and the news on to catch up. A comment was read out to me, an apprentice style competition should be held to select the next leader, see if they can run a sweet shop for 24 hours or run a new product campaign.

Steve Baker has just said he is considering standing, he is/was one of the ERG group.
Liz is cutting short her trip and returning to London, making a statement soon.

Well, if your voters are anything like our voters here in the States "incompetence" is no barrier to being elected to public office. Can any of you British Peas give us a link or two to a good basic primer on who the major contenders are, and what the whole process is? I'll go read BBC as soon as I get my coffee, but just thought you all might have a link to a good article or two.

Mr Rees Mogg is a man of the people - I’m sure he would be a popular leader. 😬
(Someone on the subreddit r/Scotland just referred to him as a Victorian wank puffin, and that is one of the best descriptions of him I have come across ever. 😂)

This gives profiles of some of the potential candidates. It was published this morning, but the situation is changing by the minute, so there may be other names in the mix.
