Its just me now as my divorce was finalized in May. I work for Social Services on the finance side of Foster Care/Adoption cases. I make sure my kids get the care they need, the foster families the support they need and pay all of the bills.

I'm a toy designer and children's illustrator. I've been in the toy industry for over 30 years. I was recently laid off of my job as Design Director for a well-known doll company in New York, so we moved cross-country to be nearer family. I'm currently freelancing.
My DH manages an investment group for a coal mine, and has several other entrepreneurial ventures going.

DH is a software developer for a payroll/HR product company. He just started this job about 3 months ago after being laid off from a national car rental company. He was an application consultant and had been there 18 years. DH also is the worship deacon at our church and is a small group leader.
I worked as an accountant for the same car rental company until I had children. Now I stay home and homeschool our two kids. I serve on the planning committee for our homeschool coop and write syllabi for some of the classes we offer each year. I also teach the nursery class at our church and help coordinate nursery workers during the worship service.

ETA: Forgot that I also do some proofreading for a boutique publisher and I edit a blog.

I was an HR manager before becoming a SAHM. As the kids are getting older I've become more involved in volunteering as a CASA. DH is an electrical contractor who specializes in high rise construction and proudly points out his buildings from Vancouver to Seattle to Los Angeles and San Diego. As a sideline they also design & install large commercial/industrial solar projects.

DH is a Reservoir Engineer. When I worked I was a Legal Secretary, then an Executive Asst. Now I utilize my degree in Clothing & Textiles by trying to corner the market in quilting fabrics! I also sell part time on eBay. So interesting to see the variety of careers everyone and their spouses have!

We are both retired and enjoying it. Before retiring, DH and I both were in the gaming/casino business. He was in HR as the Employee Relations Manager. I was the Paymaster in charge of a payroll for over 1200 employees. We both enjoyed the casino business. Before we were in the casino business we had our own video store. And we both started our careers in the banking industry.

Both of us are happily retired! Living the DREAM, snowbirds between NY and FL. Also busy visiting with children and grandkids who decided to live on opposite sides of the country. In our working life we were both teachers with over 70 years of experience together. It was TIME to retire.

My DH was an AF pilot and I was an AF air traffic control officer. We had a lot to talk about and share with each other back then. Now he's a civilian program manager for an AF aircraft maintenance program overseas and I'm a "domestic goddess." Not so much on the mutual sharing of interests anymore ("hey, honey, I cleaned the toilet and changed the sheets today"), although I still find the ins and outs of his job interesting to discuss over dinner.

I am a speech-language pathologist. I've worked in the public school setting for 24 years.
Dh is quality manager for an automotive supplier (domestic and foreign). He spends his days working to avoid the dreaded recall. Fingers crossed, there haven't been any related to their product since he's been with the company.

DH and I have been retired for 20 years. He was was a product manager in chemical sales/supply for a large company. His area of responsibility was International customers, and he has traveled the world. I worked 5 years for the same company in an analytical lab before having children. After years of being a SAHM I taught piano lessons until DH retired. And I had a very brief career as a "Bank Shopper". Very part time, but lots of fun!

I'm a NICU RN and DH is in hospitality. In previousl lives, I've been a lab researcher, waitress and bartender and DH used to own a plant design company as well as a paint company in construction.
I'm insanely jealous of all the retirees. I started this career late in life so I can't retire until I'm at least 65, and even then I don't know how comfortable we will be on my retirement alone. DH is not in a profession in which he can retire. If I knew when I was younger, I would have studied nursing straight out of college and I could have been on track to retire within the next 6-10 years. It makes me sad.

Best thread in a long time! I LOVED reading about everyone's jobs and SO jobs. My dh is lead software engineer for a well-known computer company. He's phenomenal in troubleshooting and it's moved him up the ladder very quickly for his age. He works, not in the consumer products area of the company, but in their large storage division. I have to admit, he's one of the smartest people I've ever met and can do just about anything. He also dabbles in photography and shoots weddings, family photos, babies, etc. He's also done web design (while he was still in high school), CAD work, etc. He's very versatile and has been offered many jobs in other areas of the industry. Me? I started college in pre-med, switched to Computer Science, met dh and moved to the East coast and never finished. Instead I got married, worked for a short time in telecommunications and then became a SAHM when I was pregnant with ds. I'm glad it worked out that way since ds is on the spectrum and it would've been extremely difficult to continue to work AND get him the therapies and extra time he demanded. All 3 of my kids will be in middle school this fall but I'm still primarily a SAHM. I do work 1-3 days per week for a woman who owns her own in-home daycare. She only takes teachers children so we get all holidays off as well as summer vacation. I've worked as little as 2 hours a week up to 20 hours a week in the 4-5 years I've been working there. I don't necessarily need to work but it's SUPER convenient, I get to take care of babies and littles and gives me a little spending money. So it's perfect.

Dh would have liked to become an accountant but followed in his dad's footsteps as dispatcher at a concrete plant for years. As we got married and started planning for a family, he left that job in pursuit of something that offered job security along with a better paycheck and benefits. He worked for the dept of corrections for 20 years doing a job he pretty much hated for most of that time. In the past several years he became TAC officer, worked the computer and trained other officers on the system, which he really enjoyed. I worked various positions in banking over the years - teller, head teller, mortgage processing, customer service, branch manager. I became a SAHM while I was pregnant with ds17. I'm able to stay a SAHM because of dh's determination to provide for us. I'm very involved in women's ministry and am a potential future author.

He works for a high end medical device company. He trains technicians and handles difficult repair cases.
I sit on the senior board of directors for one of the fastest growing companies in Cincinnati, travel as a corporate trainer teaching women to run profitable businesses, work with medical staff on sexual health and education, lead a team of 200, and do in home presentations teaching women about their sexual health and relationships.

I worked as an Early Childhood educator until I got burnt out. Then, I worked for the Red Cross as a dispatcher/ home care director until DS was born. Was a SAHM for 7 years and the we became foster parents and did that for several years. Now I'm a SAHM again for my DS and DD. When DD gets into 3rd grade next year, I am going to go back to work. I also do photography and design Ebook covers for a few of my friends who are authors.
DH is a tool and die maker/CNC machinist/mold maker and also had his own renovations company up until 2012. He gave up the side work and closed the business when he got too busy at the shop he works at.

I'm a former classroom teacher now homeschooling my children. One will be a sophomore in high school, one will be a freshman. When they're done with high school, I have no idea what I'll do. I don't really want to go back to the classroom, but I still love teaching. I've got a couple of years to figure it out.
DH works for Nokia as a software specialist. His team fine tunes the software to meet the needs of clients, then trains the clients how to use it. He is able to work from home, so our family eats lunch together most days. That is such a rarity, I know.
