I’ve thought of something crafty I can contribute! I’m going to wrap all my Christmas presents in brown paper this year as normal wrapping paper isn’t recyclable. So i’m Going to go and buy a stamp or two and an ink pad to decorate the paper with 😀 I’m hoping it’ll look pretty as well as not contributing to landfill. Forgive me if this has been discussed a zillion times before! 😀 That is awesome! I did it one year but decided to put gold splodges on the paper not stamping, so I ended up with paper draped everywhere while the gold paint dried. I think stamping sounds easier.

I’m making progress on my Christmas blanket - I not sure it’ll be ready for this year though 🙂. When finished it should be similar to the last photograph. I changed the pale green background to a mid navy

Saw a feature on this a few years ago, I think there is even a book. janemeans.com/pages/uk-gift-wrapping-courses

muggins and gar lovely to see you both in here. This is definitely becoming a bit of a UK hangout That head is creepy AF, good job! She's doing ok, feeling a quite bit better due to the medication and oxygen she's been getting, but is likely to be in for a few days yet. Thanks for asking

I probably should, those pictures look stunning but no, i won’t be doing that 😀Until now my DD has done my wrapping but she moved out earlier this year so that won’t be happening! I’m just saving lots of boxes to put things in to make it easier.

Thanks everyone My mum's a little better today but not enjoying her stay very much!! She's had the blood thinning injections every day and is just waiting for a scan to see what's going on. The clot was in the top of her thigh, her leg was so painful on Monday that she couldn't hold herself up. The swelling and pain is gone so hopefully she'll be home on Monday.
gar I did brown paper one year stamped with teal snowflakes, it looked really pretty.

Glad to hear that lainey 🙂 Did you find it took ages for the ink to dry? I went to the craft shop today and they said a lot of brown paper has a sort of coating that makes the ink sort of slip off.

It did take a while to dry, I left it out on the dining table for a few days. The paper is a bit shiny so it took a bit of practice to get the stamp 'sharp'

That would avoid a lot of paper laying all over the place waiting to dry and all your stamp images will be whole and not cut off from overlap or tucking in the ends.

Forgive me if this has been discussed a zillion times before! I am dating myself but this was a very "Martha" thing to do in the early eighties. I think she included it in one of her her Christmas specials, if you can obtain the video. Back in those days, before plastic bags, we would collect the brown paper bags all year and use them. They were thinner than butcher paper, and folded so nicely.

From simple bakers twine to paint or ink or whatever your imagination comes up with.

Thanks wellway - lots of ideas! The lady in the craft shop had some samples she'd done with gel pens, silver and white mostly, and a stencil and that looked great too.

Yes but I don’t have one any more and don’t really want to buy one just for that. Might think whether I know anyone with one I could borrow though- thanks 🙂

How cute are these 6” canvas squares? About $5 from Wish. I got them with a view to sewing them into a quilt or pillow maybe but now I’ve got them I think they would be lovely mounted and framed. What would YOU do with them? How’s mum doing lainey ? Could you embellish them with embroidery here and there before framing?

A heat gun would dry your ink wouldn’t it gar? As long as you're using a regular dye ink I think they will dry fairly quickly gar. You have to show us pictures when you're done!

Embroidery and/or teeny beads to accent and highlight areas. On the to do list.

Progress (not much!) on my Le Nuage shawl, the colours of the whirl aren't showing up very well, it's Melting Macaron. I'm in love with all the bobbles
This is the whirl, the colours are quite subtle but very pretty in the flesh.

I'm going to make yet another project bag with this fabric, it's going to have a bright orange lining. It was in the bargain bin and I almost squealed when I saw it, it's right up my alley. I have a few bags cut out and ready to sew, I'm planning on giving some as Christmas gifts but have a bit of performance anxiety!

Once again I am swooning over your fabric lainey. Guess we have the same taste. I wish my house looked like that fabric. Hope your mum is feeling better today.
