We don’t have dollar stores in the UK. Our equivalent to Dollar Tree is Poundland. Their stock is quite inconsistent so you can’t always guarantee you’ll find what you need. We don’t have Walmart either. This is when I miss Woolworths Do you have a B&M store close by? They sell brown paper in our local one.

Last month lainey posted a cute pattern for some crochet animals. I made them for my dgd and my 2 great nieces. They seemed to really like them. I’m trying to add a photo!

gar - I posted a thing on my Facebook only last week about wrapping with recyclable brown paper and cotton twine instead of sticky tape this year. DH is as much about recycling as I am, but he was unenthusiastic. He pointed out that wrapping paper is cheaper than brown paper, and where we live if the paper isn't foiled, the recyclers will still take it. He's right, drat him. We've compromised - we're going to use up last year's gift wrap first, then I'm going to buy brown paper. Does anyone know where in the UK you can get brown paper cheap? The best value wrapping paper I've found is Lidl at 99p for 5m. I haven't found brown paper that can come close to that, unless you buy enough to last a lifetime, and I haven't got anywhere to store eleventy-million metres of the stuff. do you have dollar stores over there? That's where I get rolls of brown paper. It's usually in the office/shipping supplies aisle. or WalMart has it in office supply area, larger roll for 3-ish dollars. We do, but ours doesn't have brown paper. Pfft.

That's a lot bigger than I thought it would be from the picture. Lots of work, but so pretty!

I love seeing everyone’s crafts. I finally get to play this month. I saw it on Pinterest and had the same paper so I had to make one too. I need to add some ribbon and glue it all together, maybe add some seed beads to the flower centers. I made this coaster too. I love how it turned out. It was my practice coaster so I didn’t care that it was chipped. I’m thinking of doing a set for my sister when she visits at Christmas. Technically this was last month. It’s one of those cross stitch kits that comes with beads. I found a pumpkin decoration that matched it perfectly, so I painted over the design on it and mounted the cross stitch onto it.

Dear Gill,
Please know that if you return to a WIP after a few months, you will NOT remember what size hook or needles you were using, nor will you remember where you put the pattern, whether it is paper based or online and you certainly won't have a clue what the yarn is unless you have a ball band or unused balls with the WIP. You can't remember what happened yesterday so why you think you can remember what you were doing previously is a puzzle.
Also, if you decide to alter the pattern (now that IS funny) don't assume you will have a clue what your original intention was.
Go and find yourself an app or just open a note page on your phone and, from now on without fail, record what it is you are making, the needles/hook sizes, the yarn, where the yarn came from, where the pattern is etc. etc., all the pertinent points so you are good to go at any point in the future. There is no point recording this information in a paper based book, you will forget where you put it.
love from your enlightened self.

I made a cardigan and altered the pattern to work for myself. Now my Mum wants one and can I remember what I did? That'll be a nope.

I know I could use Ravelry, I have an account and do have some things there but I find it not particularly user friendly for my needs and I can guarantee I’ll spot something I like and end up down the rabbit hole for a few hours.

New mini fabrics arrived at last. The only place I have found that caters to the mini maker and are all perfectly scaled. All the pieces are 28cms x 33cms (11"x13") and there are superfine cotton and wool as well as Cashmere and Japanese silk broadcloth. I have been fabric stroking, but haven`t time to get the scissors out as I am tiling a roof. Here`s a pic.

I just saw that. OMG. I need to quit work so I can crochet full time and justifying buying all the Scheepjes yarn. If only I didn't need to work so I can pay for it, lol!

Just whipped this up today. I am going to make them for Christmas. They are soap holders. I used my favorite 100% cotton yarn by Knit Picks called Dishie.

I thought so too. I just learned about these yesterday, and I found this cute pattern on Pinterest. Already working on my second one for the day. They take about an hour to do.

I'm going to make yet another project bag with this fabric, it's going to have a bright orange lining. It was in the bargain bin and I almost squealed when I saw it, it's right up my alley. I have a few bags cut out and ready to sew, I'm planning on giving some as Christmas gifts but have a bit of performance anxiety!
No need for anxiety! Your bags with the fun fabric patterns are fabulous. I predict squeals of joy from the recipients.
