I was at Aldi and they had yarn there! Here in the USA! (it's even in their ad!)
Because of this and Aldi threads on 2PS I had the urge to buy some and I haven't knit since I was a teen (?).
I didn't though, good sense took over.

Progress (not much!) on my Le Nuage shawl, the colours of the whirl aren't showing up very well, it's Melting Macaron. I'm in love with all the bobbles ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) This is the whirl, the colours are quite subtle but very pretty in the flesh. That is really pretty. I have a Blueberry Bambam Whirl and have contemplated getting the Macaron one but thought I should wait until I use the Blueberry one first to see if I like working with it. The yarn is very fine for what I am used to so I'm not sure how it will go. I like your design. How difficult would you say this patterns is?

Once again I am swooning over your fabric lainey . Guess we have the same taste. I wish my house looked like that fabric. Hope your mum is feeling better today. She's much better today thank you. She had the scan this morning and it was all clear ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I'm thinking she'll definitely be home on Monday.
I'd love my house to look like that fabric too!

How difficult would you say this patterns is? Very easy, it's a four-row repeat and all done in double crochet with an increase at the beginning and end of every row. It's a free pattern and there's a video to follow along with. Le Nuage wrap

Has anyone ordered yarn from Hobbii? It looks like they are based in Denmark. I keep seeing ads in my Facebook and some of their yarns look great, good prices too. But I'm hesitant to order if shipping to US is astronomical.

My project?
Taking apart one of my daughter’s favorite homecoming dresses. The shirk I have attached to a premade pancake tutu. I am now waiting to see if a Leo maker can do something with the bodice of the dress.

I've seen lots of the Instagram people I follow become 'ambassadors' for Hobbii, and I get the adverts too, they're obviously having a marketing push! I was able to get a quote for shipping to the UK before placing an order and it wasn't too terrible...I haven't ordered yet but I'm quite tempted.

Written patterns confuse me but after watching the first few minutes of the video it looks quite manageable.
Do you think this will work up with just one Whirl? Thanks.

For the USA it is 6.50 (dollars) or free if you spend more than 75.

gar - I posted a thing on my Facebook only last week about wrapping with recyclable brown paper and cotton twine instead of sticky tape this year. DH is as much about recycling as I am, but he was unenthusiastic. He pointed out that wrapping paper is cheaper than brown paper, and where we live if the paper isn't foiled, the recyclers will still take it. He's right, drat him. We've compromised - we're going to use up last year's gift wrap first, then I'm going to buy brown paper. Does anyone know where in the UK you can get brown paper cheap? The best value wrapping paper I've found is Lidl at 99p for 5m. I haven't found brown paper that can come close to that, unless you buy enough to last a lifetime, and I haven't got anywhere to store eleventy-million metres of the stuff. ![](http://i66.tinypic.com/30x930j.gif)

jeremysgirl - what a wonderful thing to do, and how satisfying that your work was appreciated. Thank you for starting the November thread! lainey - your shawl is GORGEOUS! I love those colours. I hope your mum is better soon, and yours jennyap . JoP - how big is the blanket going to be? It's so, so cute! I made a bundle of cards yesterday at our crop. Will take piccies once it gets light - which might be around next March. ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/rolleyes.jpg.gif)

I don’t think you will get brown paper cheaper than that RedSquirrelUK unless Poundland or somewhere like that has it. The Post Office sells rolls but it is pretty heavy weight paper in my experience. I think parcels wrapped in newspaper look good, with raffia or ribbons and doilies to tart them up. ETA the Ikea price seems reasonable.

I took a trip to Aldi this morning, then I remembered why I don't normally go on a Sunday. It was so busy but I picked up some packs of yarn. The Christmas colours pack and the pack of festive rainbow. Happy with both items and am planning to make Christmas cushion covers and a Christmas Wreath inspired by Attic24.

I am normally an 8-5 M-F worker and my Aldi is so busy. I happened to stop by at 6:30 on a Sunday night. The store is empty.

I had planned to visit a local craft market this morning then go to Aldi, I've sat in my pyjamas drinking coffee and crocheting. Brain like a sieve!

Aah, I remember those days of crafting in my pjs when my husband worked in a different country! Not that I'm grumbling that he's home at all, but I have just sent him off to bed (sympathetically) for a power nap before we pick his parents and go to their friends for a fireworks display later. We're providing the fireworks, sand bucket, lighter and a fire pit. He was just watching me fit the dratted fire pit into the boot of my car. That's MY car, MY boot, MY spatial awareness, which has been proven time and time again to be better than his. He stood there frowning and making unhelpful gasping noises and saying "no!" and "careful!" until I asked him to please go indoors and let me get on with it. Honestly, he is his fussing father all over again when he's like this. Anyway, I digress! What was I planning to do? Ah yes, check out Aldi's craft stuff. Again. As if I need anything... ![](http://i66.tinypic.com/2q20qxv.gif)

OK, that Christmas rainbow yarn in red, white and green - it looks so pretty on the ball, but surely a knitted/crocheted item made from it would look like a blotchy mess? I mean, toning colours look like a satisfying rainbow, but this is opposites. Has anyone tried using it? ETA: this is what I'm on about. www.aldi.co.uk/so-crafty-festive-rainbow-yarn/p/085378245035201

Using this in a corner to corner design at least gives a square or two of consistent color before changing and would be a good use of this type of yarn.

Love seeing what everyone is creating. Nothing from me just yet. It's that time of year again....International Quilt Festival! I leave tomorrow and get home Friday night, with more fabric and projects I'm sure. In the past I've shared photos of the quilts on exhibit in it's own thread. Is there any interest in that this year? There don't seem to be as many quilters here as in the past. I'm going to make yet another project bag with this fabric, it's going to have a bright orange lining. It was in the bargain bin and I almost squealed when I saw it, it's right up my alley. I have a few bags cut out and ready to sew, I'm planning on giving some as Christmas gifts but have a bit of performance anxiety! ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/W4b_Om5roEadLiOzGo_l.jpg) That fabric is all kinds of awesome!

I'll plan on doing a separate thread. This year for the first time I am attending the Tuesday night function where they announce all the big winners! So excited to see the winners before the show opens. Couldn't talk any of my group into attending with me, so I'm going solo. Hopefully I can start posting photos on Wednesday night.

We don’t have Walmart either. This is when I miss Woolworths YES!! I've been buying brown paper in poundland. The rolls aren't very long though. Better value were rolls from WHSmith which are currently on 3 for 2. Not that I'm obsessed with brown paper or anything but we do seem to use a lot in our house.
