Guys I just want to brag. My cousin received the mittens I made her and she says they fit perfect! She is so happy to finally have a mitten to go over her right hand that was damaged by the stroke. And now I am working on another pair of mittens. It was such an easy thing and a quick win. People might be getting some fun mittens from me for Christmas gifts.

jeremysgirl I'm glad her mittens made her happy! She now has warm hands because of your warm heart! I'm working on a loon knitted scarf in olive green and tan yarns. I need to have it done no later than Monday 11/5 to donate to the military shipment my company is sending in honor of Veteran's Day. Funny story about the yarn I'm using - I went to a community service project (Project Linus) a couple of weeks ago and while I was there some people had brought in large bags of yarn for us to pick and choose from (donated the yarn). I picked the olive and tan skeins for this particular scarf I wanted to do. When I got home I really looked at the olive yarn and it was purchased from a store (Venture) that went out of business in 1994! The original cost was $1.11 for the skein. The yarn is still soft, smells fine, looks fine - just old! I'll post a pic of the finished product when I complete it.

Little acts of kindness given and received with appreciation is desperately needed these days. ETA I worked on my Christmas cards last night. Wasn't sure I was going to do or get into/enjoy it but it has become an example of "just do/start it" that turned into enthusiasm.

On a similar note, I made an embroidered hoop as a shower gift for my niece and her now husband. I think I posted it in the September thread. Anyhow, I was just looking over photos from the wedding and reception, and they had it displayed at the reception. They like it, they really liked it (channeling my inner Sally Field). I rarely give away things I make because I don't want people to feel obligated to wear/display/like it because I made it, so this made me very happy.

MichyM that is awesome! I give away most of what I make. And nothing makes me feel better about myself than seeing people enjoy my crafts.

Jg that’s awesome about the mittens!!
Lainey I’m sorry about your Mum. Are you with her currently, or back home?
I’m working on finishing projects for a couple of auctions - one Saturday & one next weekend. Trying not to stress over them. I can’t make decisions to save my life!
Went to a Halloween event last night & saw a little girl wearing a crochet & tulle dress I had made for our church auction about 3 years ago. I couldn’t believe it was still alive! Totally made my day!!

So sorry to hijack the thread.

jeremysgirl MichyM I’m really pleased for you both that your gifts were well received. It’s a great feeling. lainey hope your mum is better and home soon. My mum is also in hospital right now, she was admitted on Tuesday with pneumonia. She has COPD, not a good combo. She seems to be doing ok though - and is posting on FB!

http://instagram.com/p/BppVvXdnVWo My 'redo' of a project from 4 years ago. I made a ton of inked/altered doilies to sell in my booths. Sold a few sets here and there. So I decided to cut them in strips and put in Christmas ornaments.

gar nice to see you here! jeremysgirl and MichyM that's so awesome that they loved your gifts! I have a small circle that I give things to (and it's getting smaller) because I just never know how people are going to react. lainey how is your mum today? I hope she's doing better and they can resolve the clot. I've been crocheting this morning because I started yet another project...I think I have unfinished-itis at the moment. I joined a hashtag on Instagram for #wipvember so maybe I will actually get something finished!

How cute are these 6” canvas squares? About $5 from Wish. I got them with a view to sewing them into a quilt or pillow maybe but now I’ve got them I think they would be lovely mounted and framed. What would YOU do with them? How’s mum doing lainey?

I’ve thought of something crafty I can contribute! I’m going to wrap all my Christmas presents in brown paper this year as normal wrapping paper isn’t recyclable. So i’m Going to go and buy a stamp or two and an ink pad to decorate the paper with 😀 I’m hoping it’ll look pretty as well as not contributing to landfill.
Forgive me if this has been discussed a zillion times before! 😀
