I am going to participate in OLW. First time-using a 6x8 album I got for Christmas. I am not tank c Ali’s class-just doing it on my own. My word is Joy. I’m a full time college student, mom to 3 and wife. This last semester was HARD on me and towards the end JOY just kept popping up all over so I’m going with it. Learning to find Joy in all seasons. Good luck to you! I went back to school full-time two 1/2 years ago, and it's been rough at times. I am also a mom and wife. I'm looking forward to scrapbooking time in 2019. I've really missed having that outlet and seeing completed pages!

Still trying to decide on an album! I initially planned on the mint 6 x 8 album from Ali Edwards, but I need to spend $50 to get free shipping, and there just aren't enough items I want to purchase to get me to that minimum. Plus, I'm not completely in love with the color, so I'm second-guessing my decision. Living in Hawai'i has its benefits, but shipping charges aren't one of them.

What is your word for 2019?
work.
Why did you choose that word?
i’d like to take this year to work on myself - on my finances, on completing my course certificate, on preparing to buy a home, on my health, on my bucket list. it seemed like broad enough a word to try to encompass all of the goals i’d like to achieve.
Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW?
this is my first time participating in OLW so i feel a bit intimated and dont really know where to start or how to format my album. i signed up for the class and have been scouring youtube for inspiration - i’m open to any ideas and suggestions that the peas have!
How are you planning to document your word?
i want to try something new so i purchased my very first 3x3 album - i’m exciting to challenge my self (and am praying it pays off!).
Is this your first time participating in OLW?
yes!
If you've participated before, what were your previous words & how was your experience with the project?

Thank you for leading me to new pastures, lasteve1 ! I'm not sure how I'm going to fare with this one, but in the spirit of "nothing to lose" I'm in! What is your word for 2019? resilient
Why did you choose that word? Over the last couple of weeks we've watched and listened to dear friends deal with heartbreaking situations and I am more aware than ever before of the importance of being resilient, of being strong and able to bounce back from whatever life throws at us. Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW? No, I'm not, though I did just download Unravel your year (thanks joblackford !) How are you planning to document your word? At the moment I'm not so sure....maybe as part of my ongoing Project Life? Is this your first time participating in OLW? Yes Always ready to embrace a new challenge, I'm looking forward to where this will take me!

I am Angie from Wyoming. I just moved to a different town the week before Christmas and that has heavily influenced my word for the upcoming year.
What is your word for 2019? My word is YES
Why did you choose that word? I choose that word so that I would open myself up to doing things. Because of the move, my tendency will be to stay home, only hang out with my kiddos and husband. I don't have to go back to work right away and so to prevent me from becoming a complete hermit, I want the word yes. This should remind me to say yes to new things, get out of the house and meet some people (hopefully!)
Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW? Not this year.
How are you planning to document your word? I'm thinking of doing a TN.
Is this your first time participating in OLW? No
If you've participated before, what were your previous words & how was your experience with the project? I participated about 5 or 6 years ago. My word was nurture and I only lasted about four months before I stopped.

quietgirl my word was GROW in 2018 and it was a good one. Good luck this year! @missbellejane have you chosen which word yet? I like both of your options and agree they both would probably help with your goal. Chinagirl828 I totally know what you mean about "progress" because I have been guilty in the past of procrastinating on goals by spending too much time planning, thinking, etc. and trying to convince myself that is the same as working towards them! I hope that "do" helps this year. cbscrapper have you chosen which word yet? They all seem like good words, but I guess it depends on the "why" behind each word. If you're still trying to narrow it down it might help to try to write out your "why" for each word and see which word best fits what you want to accomplish. scrappinmama have you settled on which word you want to go with? I think they're both good words, but simplify seems to go better with the goals you wrote out. I do think intentional would work also though! prettyprettypaper my word is breathe too! I'm excited to see how it works out. Also, I see your previous word was "bloom" and that's kind of similar to my last year word--"grow" too funny. I hope you find some time to breathe this year! linda have you picked a word? Or maybe narrowed it down to a few?

Happy New Year's Everyone! I was planning on posting on the first, but then I realized that it's already the first in a lot of the world so I will try to post my reminders on the last day of the month for those of you further east than me (I'm in Eastern Time). So... here goes! Before I get into the prompts, I'd like to provide a little bit of info on how I plan to set this up--but please feel free to give me suggestions! [also, I will copy and paste this info into the intro post & won't repost it every month] 1. Each month I plan to list out a couple of prompts. These will be prompts I come up with or are based on what I'm doing (I'm following along in the OLW journal). I am not taking Ali's OLW class this year, but I have taken it in the past. I am not trying to step on the toes of her class or share any info I received from purchasing the class, but I feel like general prompt ideas (without sharing images/downloads) should be fine, especially because I'm just coming up with them versus looking back at old classes. That said, they might resemble her prompts just because I've taken the class in the past (and some of them are kinda obvious). 2. Feel free to copy and paste the prompts into your own post & provide your responses or pick & choose the prompts you want to use or use your own format to respond to the prompts or completely ignore my prompts and post whatever you are doing to focus on your OLW this month. The goal is to check in monthly, in whatever way you want, regardless of the prompts/class/format you are using.3. Feel free to update your post throughout the month as you complete/add to specific prompts. Or feel free to add additional posts as you work on the prompts. There is no wrong way! 4. Feel free to respond to older prompts/post older prompts as the year goes on. Or you can skip them and just do the current month. I will update the OP with page # info where you can find each month's prompts in case you fall behind and want to catch up. 5. We'd love to see photos of your projects or response to any of the prompts, but also feel free to just share words here. Okay... now down to the prompts! Welcome to JanuaryJanuary is all about getting to know your word & setting your goals/intentions for the year. Prompt 1: Define your WordWhat is the definition of your word? Beyond the dictionary definition, what does your word mean to you? If you're documenting your OLW outside of 2 peas, share a photo of what you created. Prompt 2: Goal SettingIdentify six general areas that you want to focus on in the new year (or less or more, whatever works for you), e.g. "physical, emotional, relationships." Identify a few concrete goals for each of these areas. Is there one or two of these goals you'd like to focus on in January? What do you plan to do to pursue your goal in January? If you're documenting your OLW outside of 2 peas, share a photo of what you created. *Tip: When setting your concrete goals, make sure they are things that are actionable. For example, don't make your goal "eat healthier" because that isn't really actionable. Instead, say "have sweets no more than 1x per week" or "have 3 servings of veggies a day" etc. Also, I recently heard this tip from @elisejoy on instagram TV but I can't find it anymore or I would link it. However, I would like to refer everyone to her instagram in case you don't follow her--she's an excellent source of info/tips on goal setting & following through with those goals! Prompt 3: Daily Practice It's the beginning of the year, so it's a perfect time to start a new daily practice! You can pick up a free daily tracker from Elise Blaha Cripe here. What are you planning to practice daily? Are you using Elise's goal tracker or another way to track this? Where are you keeping your tracker so that you will remember to fill it in? Prompt 4: Take a monthly self-portraitI am following along in the OLW journal so I plan to include this prompt each month. ____ Reminder to those participating: quietgirl needtime2scrap @missbellejane lovinlife oaksong mom Chinagirl828 cbscrapper joblackford amidwestkingdom katyscrap nana2callie travelsoul maryjo mmagain scrappinmama ScrapbookMyLife prettyprettypaper linda argirl08 thewanderingcreative elegantsufficiency angiew Citygirl nancydrew breetheflea If you don't want to be tagged each month or if I didn't tag you but you want to be tagged, just send me a PM and I will add/remove you accordingly.

Last year my word was DEEP. Google "Go Deep, Not Wide" concept. The idea is to appreciate, use and cherish what you have. So, say instead of going out to buy a I think maybe we read the same blog post because that was my jumping off point for last year too! I'm really not good at deep, I tend to jump around a lot and part of what I wanted to do (and still want to do) is to stay focused on something and develop that instead of jumping around so much. katyscrap I just saw this follow up post about the year of deep. It's making me want to continue trying harder with this work, and maybe have two words this year (if that's not the antithesis of depth!) www.raptitude.com/2018/12/why-the-depth-year-was-my-best-year/

What is your word for 2019? my word is less Why did you choose that word? i want to focus on less stuff, less guilt, less stuff to do, less of everything
Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW? I am taking Alis classHow are you planning to document your word? I will be scrapbooking in an 8.5x11 album, mostly in that size, but possibly adding in some other sized page protectors. Is this your first time participating in OLW? no, i have done it for 6/7 years now.
If you've participated before, what were your previous words & how was your experience with the project? I have used move, no, peace, hello and home before. I have had positive experiences with the project. My most positive experience was this past year when I did the word home. This is probably what lead me to the word less, because I want less clutter, and more time to spend enjoying being home
I am Lisa, from southern AZ. I was a teacher for a long time (hence the screen name) and now I am a 911 dispatcher. I am a single empty nester and you would think that would mean I complete all my scrapbooking projects...but alas, it does not lol

Hi! I'm Tina. I live in Indianapolis and have a hubby and 3 kids that are 15, 20 and 25. I'm a CEO for a large nonprofit and pour myself into serving through my job. I find that I often let myself get drained and am trying to enter 2019 being more mindful about taking care of myself.
What is your word for 2019? My word is aware. Why did you choose that word? I have such a demanding job and busy life that I need to slow down and be aware of my body, relationships, finances, etc. I think I often lack awareness about how my stresses out affect impacts other people when I walk into a room, so I need more self-awareness. Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW? No, I've done it in the past though. I did order a few things from her site to use on my project. How are you planning to document your word? I think I'm going to use a journal this year. I need to hit the craft store to buy an album. Is this your first time participating in OLW? No If you've participated before, what were your previous words & how was your experience with the project? I've had varying degrees of success. Some years I stuck with it, others I didn't. My past words were intentional, content and rise.

What is your word for 2019? WRITE Why did you choose that word? I’m having problems with self expression with regards to identifying and addressing my personal issues. Writing/journaling is my way to find my “voice”. Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW? no How are you planning to document your word? journaling in my varied collection of my prompt books, creating junk journal or mini album, creating a spiritual book or journal, write a short story/novel of fiction. Is this your first time participating in OLW? not formally If you've participated before, what were your previous words & how was your experience with the project?

Hi! i'm Becca. I'm from Wa state, i have 7 kiddos and a daughter in law.
What is your word for 2019? not 100% but i think it will be "content"
Why did you choose that word? Because i'm doing some work right now in a number of areas that seemed to make that a good word. I think the biggest is being content with myself and my body. I've discovered the body trust movement and i'm working on being ok with myself and loving myself and my body no matter what size I am. I am also working on being content with what i have and not being jealous of others. I'm also wanting to very seriously declutter this year. I am drowning in stuff!
Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW? No
How are you planning to document your word? I have no idea. I think this is probably why I never actually "DO" anything with my word, lol
Is this your first time participating in OLW? Well... like i said, i haven't really done any thing with my words, so i guess?
If you've participated before, what were your previous words & how was your experience with the project? I have planned to do it every year since 2013 but never really have. Last year was "light" the same and opposite of this year's goals, hahaha... to lose weight and to declutter.

I've decided I'll start off by creating a journal within Day One that is named with my words so every time I add an entry I'll see that DEEP/THRIFT JOURNAL. I think that's going to be a good place to start. (I remember hearing that Buddhist monks are often named for things that they need to work on, so the impatient monk gets called Patience and gets reminded of their weak point every time someone speaks to them!) I also have a tracker notebook that I use to remind myself of my priorities. (this notebook) which I found through inkimperfections on Instagram. I've been using a similar monthly tracker in my current planner so I'm already in the habit. I need to be a bit better about defining "smart" goals (specific measurable actionable etc) but I'm also just not driven/hard on myself like some people are. I could be a little harder on myself though Thanks for the great prompts lasteve1 !

I used Ali's graphic to create this for my album. Love how it turned out! I also decided on an 8.5 x 11 album, just because I wanted the full-page prompts on 8.5 x 11 size. I'm going with this Heidi Swapp album. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. The only bad part is that is coming from Joann.com, and their stuff takes forever to get to Hawai'i. I mean - weeks. UGH! In the meantime, I'll go ahead and start working on my pics and journaling. I didn't buy any of Ali's OLW stuff but may change my mind. Her stuff takes forever to get to me, too. *sigh* ALBUM

I hope you find some time to breathe this year! Thank you! I'm excited also! Looking back, I really wish I had followed through with my OLW album back then. I would have loved to be able to go back and read everything in it. I really hope this year is different. Ali posted something in the group today that really resonated with me. She pointed out that one's "success" with the project isn't necessarily completing an album and all the prompts. It could just be something like watching/listening to all of the lessons. I'm sharing that to remind everyone that our "success" doesn't necessarily have to be tied to completing an album! BTW: Sorry that pic of my word is so HUGE!

Hi I’m sherri
What is your word for 2019? Breathe
Why did you choose that word? I picked breathe to remind me to enjoy the small stuff, and isn’t all stuff small stuff. I thought it would help reduce stress.
Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW? Nothing formal.
How are you planning to document your word? I scrap a lo a month on the word.
Is this your first time participating in OLW? No I’ve had words since the year it started.
If you've participated before, what were your previous words & how was your experience with the project? Believe, faith, hope and thankful were great words to help my life. Focus didn’t really, do anything, I think for me it just wasn’t a capability of mine at the time I chose the word.
I may forget this exists, on this board don’t be afraid to tag me.

Hello, my name is Amanda. I live in Ohio. I am happily married, no children...yet. I work full-time as an Administrator in local government. What is your word for 2019? My word for 2019 is Surprise. Why did you choose that word?I chose that word because I want to allow myself to be surprised by life in a good way. I also want to surprise myself. I want to try new things, step out of my element, enjoy the differences in life. Are you participating in Ali's class or another class/program on the internet to help you with your OLW?I am not participating in Ali's class. I will do my best to be accountable here. As part of my word for the year, I made my first post to Instagram! My handle is the same as here: scrampinmystyle. I'd love for you to follow me, as I hope that will help keep me more accountable, and I just love how crafting creates a community. I am also going to try to document my process on YouTube - we'll see how that goes . How are you planning to document your word?I'm not sure yet. I think I want to do either 9x12 or 8.5x11. I want to be able to incorporate full page spreads and also small inserts. I'm leaning more towards 9x12. Is this your first time participating in OLW?Yes, this is my first time participating. Not my first time buying products for it .

Does anyone have the OLW journal?
I am trying to fill it in but I am stumped as to what to do with the monthly calendar pages. The only things I can think of seem time consuming (printing a small photo a day for example) and not worth it for a book that I'm not going to look back on that much/use as my regular documenting for the year. I also don't need it as a calendar because I have my planner for that. Before I tried something on the January one I kinda wanted to come up with a format that I could use for all of the months.
Any ideas? What is everyone else doing?

Any ideas? What is everyone else doing? I don't have the journal, so I might not be any help. Maybe you could use the calendar for instances where you know you will be practicing your word? Example word: Move - if someone was to "move" more be exercising, they may want to note those dates on their calendar. Or with Ali's word "Habit", she may have things that she wants to make a regular part of her lifestyle. She may use those "habits" as reminders and/or events in her calendar. On the flip side, you could also use it live/post-events. Sometimes I am behind in my documenting, and a monthly calendar could provide a general overview for you of things that happened so when you are ready to document, you could go to that month and quickly see what you want to work on. I hope what I'm saying makes sense. I know what I want to say, if that counts for anything .

I always struggle with monthly calendars because like you said, I have that info somewhere else. I'm not sure if this video will help, but this lady shows more than 30 ideas for what to record in a monthly calendar. Maybe one of the ideas will work for the OLW journal. YouTube link If not, I'd either leave it blank or draw a quick doodle design in each box.

I've been writing/answering the prompts here & there in my Day One journal. Coming up on halfway through the month, so I guess it's a good time to check in and see what I've written and whether I've followed through so far. One of my goals is also to transfer what I wrote in my (mostly empty) Unravel Your Year workbook from last year into a format that I can process for this year, since I'm continuing with the same word. That might be a good task to tackle tonight while the football is on (good idea oaksong !) I think I'll just type up what I wrote last year as a journal entry so it's all in one place. Re-writing it will also force me to really think about what I wrote last year and see how I feel about it now. I'm taking a slightly different tack with the word (deep) this year. Or at least, I think it's different. Maybe I started the year with a different idea than I ended up with. Has anyone made pretty pages they want to share?
