Making a embarrassing confession here...I hate my word that I chose. I really thought it made sense for what I hoped and planned for this year and ugh! It's become a hard no, can't even stand it. My word was intention and I feel like every time I hear it or come across it lately, I'm reminded again that it feels like I failed. Don't feel bad. It's supposed to help, not feel like an obligation or a weight. I hope that try feels better for you. The whole notion of the year-long project is so arbitrary anyway. A new word nudged me the other day, but it goes quite well with one of my current words so I'm just adding it to the mix, giving it some thought, and we'll see if it sticks around. lasteve1 I just realized we're into a new month! I hadn't even thought about it. LMK if you want to skip this month - I can contribute something of a challenge if you like, or we can just do a check in. I'm guessing life hasn't gotten any less crazy since May.

I have been busy (as usual, unfortunately) and I guess I sort of felt this thread was so inactive anyways. But I will do it, thanks for the push! I'm happy to see people are chatting on this thread and still keeping up with their projects. And my word is "breathe" so me being so busy is probably a sign that I need my word more than ever.

Welcome to June Welcome to June—better late then never, right?! I haven’t had a ton of luck catching up on this project but I’m hoping that this is the month! This year has thrown me more curveballs than ever, but many of them are so good. Hopefully I can share something from my project soon Prompt 1: 6 Month Check-InThe end of this month is halfway through the year so it’s a good time to check in on your progress and see what you need to change going forward. Look back on the goals you set in January. Have you accomplished any of them? Have you made progress on any of them? Are there any goals you haven’t even started on? Do the goals you set in January still make sense for your overall goals for this year? If not, what new goals should you add to the list? Are there any you should cross off as no longer relevant? Is there a goal on your list that you haven’t made as much progress (or any progress!) as you wanted? If so, how can you make that goal a priority for the second half of the year. Flip back through your album/journal/whatever you are using to document your OLW. Are there any places where you missed prompts that you want to fill in? Anything else you want to add? Take a few hours to fill in the holes in your album or give yourself permission to let those holes go and know you will never fill them, and that is perfectly okay. Prompt 2: Word Bucket List(This prompt is in the OLW journal this month and I really like it so here is my take on it) At this point in the year you should be fairly familiar with your word and how it fits into your life. However, most words that we choose stick with us for longer than one year. So this month create a “bucket list” with 3-5 items that you hope to accomplish in your life that relate to your word. These could be goals you are currently working on or just long term ideals that you hope for in the future. For each item on your list include: a photo/magazine cut out/sketch of your goal some quick journaling explaining what your goal is and how it relates to your word Prompt 3: Check in on your daily practice/start a new daily practice for June How did you do on your daily practice last month? What worked/what didn’t? Identify patterns. Is this something you will continue in June? Is there a different daily practice you want to work on? What can you do to be more successful this month? Prompt 4: Take a monthly self-portraitI am following along in the OLW journal so I plan to include this prompt each month. —— Reminder to those participating: quietgirl needtime2scrap @missbellejane lovinlife oaksong mom Chinagirl828 cbscrapper joblackford amidwestkingdom katyscrap nana2callie travelsoul maryjo mmagain scrappinmama prettyprettypaper linda argirl08 thewanderingcreative elegantsufficiency angiew teacherlisa shinyhappytina mrssch mamakven cindytred Citygirl nancydrew breetheflea justlisa7 If you don't want to be tagged each month or if I didn't tag you but you want to be tagged, just send me a PM and I will add/remove you accordingly.

We are 6 months in and I think I'm changing my word for the rest of this year. I'm finding the word TRY has been coming to me lots, whether in my self talk, relationships, just about everything. So for the second half of 2019 my word is TRY. I don't think you should be upset by this change... a lot changes in 6 months and it's perfectly acceptable to want to change your goals. Like Ali has said with this project before... one year is really just an arbitrary length of time she chose for the project. But in reality you could keep a word for much longer or much shorter. And, it's definitely more productive to change your word and continue with the project than just push it aside because you hate your word. Just do what works for you!

needtime2scrap I agree with lasteve1 ! Who sets the rules around here?! (we do!!) When I read about Ali's new venture with HSN I thought about a phrase used by a really good speaker I heard last week about what to do when it all gets same old same old...."Go fish in a different pond". I thought that summed up pretty well what she's doing with the HSN project. Then I read your message and thought it applies here too - no point in fishing on empty, is there!?

That's an interesting thought. I haven't heard that before. The other one that comes to mind is "a change is as good as a rest" I'm all for sticking with things and pushing past boundaries (that's one of the ideas behind my word deep) but at the same time, sometimes things just aren't working and there's no reason to torture ourselves!

I haven't heard that before. joblackford I hadn't heard it put that way before either, but it seemed to capture the spirit perfectly! The speaker was using it in relation to finding new participants for a project rather than new customers, but I suppose the intent is the same. It clearly hit the spot with me because since I heard it, I keep returning to that idea. Like you, I'm not someone who likes to admit that I'm beaten, but we can play by our own rules and make them work for us.
