My son played travel baseball for years. Although I’m going to cry giant tears when he leaves for college in a few weeks, I do not miss those days!
Lots of 8 AM weekend games. We live in the DFW metroplex, so it wasn’t usual for us to play an hour away and have to be there by 7 AM after playing hard the day before. Also sitting in the hot sun! We had so much gear for us!

I would try. My sister in law was going to come down last year to see my son play football, but everyone in the our family came down with Covid. She tried everything to get her non-refundable room refunded or even just the reservation moved to a different date, but the hotel wouldn’t budge. I believe she booked directly with the hotel and called them directly trying to change it.

I’m a teacher. Kids come into the building at 7:20 and are fully gone at 3:45 and I try to be out the door by 4:00. I usually end up doing work or paperwork through lunch, so I will say I work a full 8.5 hours a day. Some days a little more. I used to work more in the evenings and pretty much at least one weekend day each week, but now I’m an interventionist and can mostly get stuff done during the school day.

I am late in checking on the lists and every item I click, nothing happens---does that mean everyone has their wish list filled? If not, post the link again and I'll attempt to shop again. If that happens I usually close the window and click the link a second time. I’m not sure why that happens, but it does to me on Amazon all the time.

Anyone else in perimenopause feel like they are in a constant state of being on the edge of tears. I’ve never been a weepy person, but commercials, TV shows, and TikTok videos that are even just the slightest bit sentimental make me teary eyed. I swear I’m on the verge of tears multiple times and hour!

So sorry you are having to deal with this stress. I agree with you and your brother that it’s probably not the cat and something else causing them to not want to go. If they haven’t traveled in 5 years, I’m sure there is a lot of anxiety there for them. Hope you are able to get it worked out and everyone enjoys the wedding.

I’m 46. No hot flashes yet, but I’ve been skipping periods for about 2 years now. I’m to the point where I skip my period about 3-4 times per year. My mom did tell me that she went through menopause at around 46, so I’m sure it’s coming.

I'd like to share her wish list: www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2J8AAB8M5IM3U?ref_=wl_shareShe's in her first of two orientations today (this one is for the county). She's so excited to get started. Thanks for providing this! Jen Have her check her list. I don’t see an address.

The peas are always so supportive of the teacher on the board! I would appreciate anything for my students! This year I will be continuing in k-4 intervention, but I’m moving schools. My new school is brand new. It will still be a title 1 school. I will be serving kids in math and reading. I have materials provided by the school for my 2-4 students, but I need stuff for my kindergarten and 1st graders, so that’s mostly what’s on my list! I look forward to shopping a few lists myself! I love buying books since I don’t get to do that anymore for my classroom. www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7394G2HK2C7A?ref_=wl_share

I hope you have the best year! My first year was 25 years ago and I still remember so much of it like it was yesterday.

I wouldn’t say anything about gifts, but next time you do potluck you could easily assign her to bring something specific. Some people are just clueless and need to be told.

My husband has his scheduled and isn’t worried about anything but the IV. He’s deathly scared of needles. Ugh. I just told him the prep will be worse. He asked what prep they just told me to show up at such and such time. Oi. Wonder if they’ll call closed to date to give him instructions. My last colonoscopy was about 15 years ago and she gave me all the details during scheduling. Is it still same prep, drink a ton of gross drink then live in toilet most the night? And thank you for the reminder. I’m glad all was caught early. The first time DH had it done he had to drink a gross, thick prescription drink. This time the doctor had us take 4 docalax, and then put a bottle of miralax into 64 ounces of Gatorade. We then had to drink 8 ounces every 15 minutes. It wasn’t bad at all and my doctor said my prep was perfect which was something I was worried about. Last thing you want is to go through all that only for them to not be able to do the procedure because of subpar prep.

So glad you went! Exact same thing happened to my dh (he had pre-cancerous polyps) and the doctor told him the same thing - call your siblings. One of his brothers then went for his first colonoscopy and he had many more dangerous polyps and ended up having major surgery! Yeah, the prep sucks but cancer sucks more. I’m so glad your BIL went! My sister is only 40, so I don’t know if her insurance will cover it. She has psoriatic arthritis and is going to talk to her RA.

My MIL died of colon cancer when DH was 40. He’s been getting a colonoscopy every 5 years since then.
This year, I turned 45 and it was my turn. My doctor referred me in September, but I put it off until summer because teacher life.
I was nervous, but honestly the prep was the only bad part and really the prep wasn’t as bad as I had assumed it would be.
I was shocked though when my doctor came to talk to me after the procedure. He just kept saying I’m so glad you came to see me. I had a very large (50mm) polyp that he feels would have been cancerous in just a year or two. It’s especially scary since the age used to be 50 just a few years ago.
I now get to go back next year so the doctor can check again and he also highly suggested my siblings go ahead and get one if they are over 40. I called them both before I was even home! My brother just turned 45, so it’s time for him anyway.
Anyway don’t forget all those checks! This summer I’ve had my mammogram, Pap smear and colonoscopy. Teacher life in the summer!

My boys introduced me to it a few days ago and it’s pretty fun. They give you a list of 16 words and you have to select 4 that would make a category. Today’s was pretty straightforward, but they can definitely be tricky. www.nytimes.com/games/connections

I’m always a little early. I’m supposed to be at school by 7:20, but most days I’m there by 6:50. I just like to have time to get my life together. If I’m supposed to be at the doctors by 9:30, I will probably be there by 9:20. I often find myself waiting a bit in the parking lot if I’m too early. For me, running late or even me perceiving that I’m running late causes me stress.

My current school is 15 min from my house. I would be willing to drive 30 if needed. I like having time in the car to unwind. Thankfully I don’t have to drive through traffic though!
