Yes cigarettes and a general burning smell was constant for months after I had Covid. I’m very glad to be done with that!

There was a thread about this about a couple weeks ago. Let me see if I can find t, and bring it back to the first page so you can read it. There were some great books listed on there. Thank you. I did a search but didn’t see any.

What was your favorite read of the year? I read 89 books this year and The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer was my favorite book. I’ve got the other 5 star reads in the picture below.

Cooking. I love the act of putting a meal together and watching others enjoy it. During the week I’m tired from work, but it still love to cook. I do bigger meals on the weekend.

I had a few things I needed to grab this morning, so I ran to Walmart at 8:30. I was hoping it would be early enough to avoid too big of crowds. It was pouring rain so that helped thin the crowds too. I was in and out in 30 minutes and got everything I needed. Win for sure!

Some things we’ve been doing so long- but I’ve also been a pea so long (24 years!) I kind of forget but these are ones I can think of: Pickle ornament - I bought one after reading it here and every Christmas Eve the girls are timed to see who can find it first and they open the first gift Appetizers for Christmas Eve dinner And now doing a December daily scrapbook last year and this year Will come back to add as reading others will probably jog my memory! Oh appetizers for us on Christmas Eve too. I’m fairly certain that one came from the Peas for me. I’ve also been a Pea for about 24 years before I was married or had kids, so it’s hard to pin point for sure.

I had not heard about wrapping stocking gifts until 2peas but I have not implemented that. Our stocking gifts are usually really small, like lip gloss or chocolates, so it doesn’t make sense to wrap those but I’ll bet the kids would enjoy unwrapping them. I’ve picked up a lot of things from the peas over the years but not necessarily holiday traditions Oh I even wrap the ridiculously tiny things.

95% done. Kids want to go shopping for their cousins tomorrow so I will probably take them but it won’t be too involved.

I text with my sister several times a week and see her and her family a couple times a month. They only live an hour across DFW from us.
My brother I only text ever once in awhile. He lives further away.

My kids are 15 and 19 and when they were tiny I remember some Peas talking about how they let their kids have free reign to open their stockings on Christmas morning to give mom and dad a little extra sleep.
Then a few years later other Peas talked about how they wrap everything in the stocking. I did it one year and my boys loved it.
Anyway even though my boys are older, those two traditions live on. In fact I’ve been asked by both kids separately if I’m wrapping all the stocking stuffers!
Anyone else have any traditions from the Peas?

I have an SE and it’s fine for me. I mostly use my watch to check text messages, set and disable timers, keep my daily calendar reminders, and track fitness. All of that can be done on the SE.

I’ve recently discovered I freaking love pickled onions. Weird but I had them on some tacos and then my town just got Cava, so I had them put them in my bowl and now I’m buying jars at the store.

They pop up on the middle of shows. They are usually around 90 seconds but might be shorter in shorter shows. They aren’t super annoying but I do miss ad-free. I had to change to with ads when I wanted to add ESPN+

Agree. It’s the 12 days between Christmas and the Epiphany. As a kid, we never took down Christmas decorations until January 6th. Now I usually take them down before going back to work which is usually slightly before Jan 6th.

I went to check out our newly renovated library and was pleasantly surprised for a new maker space. What a great energy! Included 3D printers, laser printers, sewing machines, a full Cricut setup, including the press for T-shirts (can't think of what it's called). I started to learn 3D printing and the filament is free to use. Many laptops and a huge Surface Pro is available to use with the software needed to run the machines. The folks that run the space are paid by the library and many have design backgrounds. Wouldn't that be a great job? It was so fun! That sounds amazing. My town has 30,000 people and no library! Our leadership feels libraries are outdated and that no one uses them anymore. There have been many, many arguments about this in various Facebook groups for the town. I sure wish they would put some money into a library with a cool maker space like this.

I have it and do not really expect anyone to accommodate me. I am olllllllllllld, though, so I have had to just deal with it. I will say that it is very distracting, though. I had an office mate who typed “too loudly,” I won’t listen to podcasts where the host smacks their lips (IMO), and someone who is constantly sniffing without using a tissue makes me crazy. Well, I make myself crazy thinking about it really. I has gotten better since my hearing has worsened, sadly, so I can always turn my hearing aids down or take them out. Maybe get him some comfortable ear plugs? Hope that helps. He tried the ear plugs and they didn't help unfortunately. I just really want to help him and not have it be an issue while he's visiting. Has he tried AirPods? My dh says the airpod pros work well for him. Sometimes he has them in with nothing playing and sometimes he has something playing softly in them.

My DH and my DS. Both are triggered by loud breathing and eating sounds. They both have their air pods in pretty much 24/7. They also leave the room if they get triggered.

I love love love them. Probably to an unreasonable degree especially since I’m neither a talented singer nor dancer. I just enjoy seeing live shows and watching talented people do their thing. I’ve been a season ticket holder to Broadway Dallas since 2018 and love seeing all the traveling shows.

I usually work 7-4 everyday. I’m a teacher so I get a 30 minute duty free lunch but I work through lunch every day. I usually end up putting in an extra 3-5 hours sometime during the week or weekend. So somewhere between 45-50 hours a week.
When I was a regular classroom teacher I easily worked 50-60 hours per week.

Our insurance (both Texas teachers) is pretty awful. DH had an allergic reaction to some medication he was on and had to go in. Wr drove there and he was there for about 3-4 hours. $1800

DH and I met at 18 and started dating at 19. Pretty sure none of my short term boyfriends before DH think of me that way. I definitely do not have one that got away.

I did read the book and thought it was ok, but did find the subject interesting. As someone that grew up in Oklahoma, it’s always interesting learning about a piece of history you never learned about in school.
I do plan to see the movie. I didn’t realize it was so long though!
