My daughter told me that restaurants in our area are so desperate for servers that they are paying $10/hr plus tips and they still can't get people to work. They could be making 3 X the amount of unemployment but they don't want to work. Many of our restaurants have to close at times because they don't have enough staff to open; they've reduced hours and cut the number of days they open each week. Minimum wage here is over 10 am hour, and includes tips, what is your minimum wage? That doesn’t seem that desperate to me. Around here our restaurants are suffering because they are allowed to open with 25% capacity then the Governor shuts then down for a week or two, then let’s them open again, then shuts them down. Several restaurants are stuck with excess food they or they don’t order and have the opposite problem. We have had several restaurants close off and on or just close permanently. I can’t imagine trying to run a restaurant in our area right now. They are constantly having to lay off staff and rehire. For servers, minimum is $2.13/hr plus tips.
We're back open at full capacity unless a business wants to limit itself on their own.

Many of our restaurants have to close at times because they don't have enough staff to open; they've reduced hours and cut the number of days they open each week. How many hours are they willing to offer the employees? $10 is great but not if you’re only working 20 hours. And lots of these types of jobs vary the schedule from week to week with little notice so it’s hard to work two jobs and coordinate the two schedules. If you’re working four hours on tires day from 4-8, it’s hard to work before or after that and tips are lower during the week. There are lots of considerations and any time in the past I worked retail or food service, I could expect to be called off without pay at the last minute if the employer was having a slow day. At the restaurants my daughter was talking about, making $100/shift in tips is a slow day. $300-400 a night during the week is normal. And I know it's true because my daughter has worked at those places and has friends who work at all of them. These aren't chain restaurants, they're upscale local places.

The Bistro I work at has been trying to hire and when setting up interviews has been told "well I can't start until September when my unemployment runs out". There is a trades employer who is getting the same story so it is true that many people are not going back to work for the very reason of unemployment benefits. My daughter told me that restaurants in our area are so desperate for servers that they are paying $10/hr plus tips and they still can't get people to work. They could be making 3 X the amount of unemployment but they don't want to work. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. This is another "we have to save the planet!" sci-fi book, but the genius of the storytelling is that our hero has amnesia and is alone on a spaceship, figuring out what's happening along with the reader. The story becomes really great midway through (I won't spoil it), and then has a completely delightful ending. 4/5 I'm currently listening to the audio version and it is fantastic!

I’d open a case with Etsy as you have no idea when she plans on fulfilling your order now. I agree with this. It's just downright rude to ignore a message asking about a purchase, especially one that costs so much.

I'm sorry you're going through this; it's no fun.
I had the same thing happen to me almost two years ago. I ended up having a lumpectomy - I had very little discomfort and have no scar except for about a 1/2" under my arm where they took lymph nodes to biopsy.
Because my oncotype score came back too high, I had to do chemo but I had very little side effects; I did cold-capping and kept my hair. After chemo I had to do about 36 rounds of radiation, and again had no side effects or burns. I now have to take Tamoxifen for another 9 years because my tumor was fed by estrogen - I'm not too happy about that but it's what I have to do.
Try not to stress or worry too much before you have to, because you may end up worrying for nothing. I wish someone had told me that cancer treatment doesn't always mean you're sick and throwing up, or that not everyone gets horrible burns with radiation - I was terrified for months and it ended up not being anything like I imagined.

This week I listened to Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner. I wanted to love it, but I didn't. It wasn't bad, it just didn't suck me in like I was hoping it would. I gave it 3.5 stars.
Did anyone else happen to listen to the audio version of this book? The narrator was really good except for the way she pronounced double "T" words - cotton, button, etc. Cotton became co-dun; button became buh-dun. Drove me crazy! I can't believe she was allowed to do this in the recording.

I don't think there's a set time for their sales, I just watch their emails and get their texts. They're having Anthro Day this weekend but it excludes furniture and decor - not sure if what you're looking is in those categories.

I've had it for at least ten years, maybe more, and I always paid the full rate. I tried a few times to get them to lower it and was never successful. I never listen to regular radio - hate it - and I listen online at work too so it was worth it to me. About a year or so ago I gave it one more try and got them to lower my rate to $5/mo. I recently renewed at the same rate.

Several months ago a lady here dropped her truck off to be serviced and later that day she saw it out on the road. She followed the person driving it and he pulled into a Lowe's parking lot. When he went inside she used her spare set of keys to get in it and drive away.

Yep, very familiar with them. If I can't shake the feeling sometimes I'll end up taking another Maxalt, or even just some Excedrine and a coke, and then I'll feel better.

I started watching it last night and got through the first two episodes. I really like it - it reminds me of The Killing that was on AMC a few years ago.

I finished The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins - I found it to be very "Desperate Housewives". I gave it 3 stars.
Now I'm listening to Jennifer Weiner's Big Summer and am enjoying it.

Yippee! I was just wondering when this would be coming back on. I have missed it. I think I'll rewatch Season 3 first since it's been so long and then start watching Season 4. Has anyone read Margaret Atwood's book "The Testaments" which is a second book in this series? I did and I'm wondering if any of it will be included in Season 4. Well I just couldn't resist. I thought I was going to rewatch season 3 since it had been so long, but instead I just dove right in and watched season 4 episodes 1, 2 and 3 all in one sitting. I love this show! The second book "The Testaments" so far isn't part of this season and I'm glad. I really liked that book but it starts (the book) 15 years after season 3 ends. I like it much better (the show) continuing right after season 3 ended. I don't think, at least for myself, that the show is that much darker yet. It's always been brutal. I am really confused about one part of the last episode-episode 3. I'll put it into a spoiler in case some Peas haven't watched it yet. Okay, so first we see June being taken and then dropped off and told to walk forward to her new placement. She walks forward towards a bridge and there is her former lover-darn I forgot his name-the father of her child Nicole. They embrace and tell each other they love each other. He tells her that her first born daughter is there (sorry, again for some reason I can't remember her name today) and all will be well. So I figure great, June will live with him and her daughter and she's lucked out this time. But in the next scene she's in the van with all of the other handmaids and Aunt Lydia and they are trying to escape. What happened to living with her former lover? Aunt Lydia told June she would be going to a Magdelene Colony, she was never meant to be going to a new Commander's home, or Nick's. It seems Nick arranged for her to be dropped off so he could see her before she got in the van with the other handmaids. He told her that "Hannah's back home. She's safe" meaning back home with her "family".

I read the threads that interest me, skip the rest. I don't skip posts because of avatars but I will admit some of them may influence the impression I have of the pea. Particularly the cartoon avatars people make. Uh oh! I used to have a real photo of myself but it was becoming dated after a few years so I switched to a cartoon No, not yours - it's some of the ones that I *think* are made here, and not all of them.

I recently purchased Tommy John's Comfort Smoothing Bralette and I'm in love! Unfortunately you have to order online but they have great customer service. I originally ordered this style and another, I didn't like the other and when I went online to initiate the return process I was offered the choice of an immediate credit for an exchange - exactly what I wanted so I could get another of the style I liked. I haven't tried Third Love so I can't give an opinion there.

I have a friend in Canada and she laughs every time she hears about this hell. Is it done differently in Canada? Yeah, what do they do?
I didn't have to stop my meds ahead of mine. And while the prep wasn't a joy, the procedure itself was nothing. I'm glad I had a colonoscopy because they found 3 very small polyps and removed them - otherwise they would've been undetected and grown.

I can see how doctors run behind when patients make appointments for one thing, and then bring up three other ailments while in the exam room. Multiply that times many patients per day... Still it's annoying. Our time is valuable too.
Years ago when I first got in to see my neurologist (it took 6 months for an appointment) people would tell me to pack a lunch because I would be there a while. I thought they were joking; they weren't. I've been in her office for 4 hours at times, sometimes more. She moved her practice and over the last year or so things have gotten better - usually 2 hours is the longest now (in and out the door.) It's not fun, but she's the only person who has been able to get my migraines under control so to me, it's worth the long wait.

I think after I start the car? Purse/bag on the passenger seat, foot on the brake, key in the ignition, seatbelt, car in reverse.. I think that's how it goes, but if something's NOT right when I do it, I definitely know!

I haven’t started watching this series yet because from what I can tell it is drastically different then the book, for those of you that read the book did you find it frustrating or hard to watch? I don’t have a deep seeded passion for the book, but I get frustrated when things are super different from the source material or they combine characters or drastically alter a character. The True Blood shows are a good example, I had to stop watching the show because it was just too different from the books. This one might be different because the first book had such an ambiguous ending and I can’t believe they are still working with the original source material. This is one of the few cases where the series only enhanced the book. The first season stayed very close to Atwood's version, it only fleshed out the story more and made it easier to understand what was happening. The first season ended where the book did.

Please know that we all truly care about you and want you to be okay. Personally, I think of you often because I remember the struggles you've had with your father. Talk with your doctor tomorrow and take medical leave if you can. Working in what you feel is a toxic environment is not good for you right now. (((hugs)))

Did they run out of money and have to shoot everything on a shoe string budget? Quite the opposite - they had an obscene budget for each episode. I think D&D were bored with it and were ready to move onto another project and just rushed through the last season. The mistakes that were made? The Starbucks cup missed by... EVERYONE! Such a shame and so disrespectful to an amazing series. I felt in the end that most characters ended up where they should, but Bran on the Iron Throne? No. Just no. Who should have been there? I don't know. Jon didn't want it. Maybe Tyrion. He would've made a good king I think.
