This happens here all the time. Normally we already know where the tornado is because we're watching news/radar coverage on television or our phones. Sirens could be going off and the tornado be on the other side of town. It blows my mind how closely they can pinpoint a location these days.
A couple of weeks ago we had one pass over my office and we were all gathered in our foyer looking out the windows at the trees whipping around. Obviously it wasn't on the ground or we would've gone into interior rooms.

Last week I finished The Invisible Husband of Frick Island by Colleen Oakley and I thought it was pretty good. It was a cute story. 3.5

I hardly ever see divorce or those other stories. I think it has to do with your algorithm they put you in. Or as they call it "side".. MY side is 50ish,cats, food, MN, make up, democrats and food. ha. It depends alot on what you like and for how long you watch the videos vs scroll past on your FYP. Well there you have it - I need to quit getting sucked in!

I like watching the funny videos and the ones with dogs, but most of it is all this other crap. I saw one the other day where a lady was putting on her makeup and doing a play-by-play of what happened when her kids were with their dad. She needs to save all that for her lawyer and the judge.

I only signed up on Tik Tok a couple of months or so ago to follow a story that was going around FB. Before that, the only thing I had ever heard about it was that kids used it to post videos of themselves dancing. Oh no... not what I'm seeing at all.
I never expected to see people spilling all the dirty details of their divorces, affairs, work situations... people with terrible illnesses or who have lost family members through any and all manners of death. Custody battles.. on and on. And I get sucked into watching it all! Is anyone else surprised by the amount of oversharing?

I think he's cheesy and kinda gross. I mean, he's cute, but what he's doing is a big turn-off - in addition to his age.

I agree about the baby. That little guy would have a far better life being loved by a family in a town that was unaware of his history. I don’t ever see John and Laurie reconciling so then what? He gets custody. And then to have explain that the brother shot his mother. Give that kid a gift of a fresh start. I agree. How many times does the kid have to be uprooted? He's had his mother taken away and gone to a new family (Dylan's), and now another new environment with Laurie; then he'll eventually go to Jon? That's going to be one screwed up family dynamic. He would be so much better off with Dylan's parents.

I'm gonna have to do a rewatch before the new season airs - I've forgotten a lot of details. I'm really going to miss Deb though.

The One Hundred Years Of Lenni and Margot is available today in the US! So is Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I preordered both and now have to choose which one to read first. I've just started Malibu Rising!

The cemeteries where my family are buried have people who cut the grass. My brother weed eats around my dad's headstone every few weeks and my mother changes the flowers regularly. They do the same for my grandparents and uncle who are buried next to my dad. I live 2 hours away so I'm not there to do those things. My dad's parents are buried at another cemetery where they do more than just cut the grass so there's no need for anyone to go trim weeds, etc. My mom changes their flowers seasonally.

I read The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz - Jacob Bonner, a one hit wonder novelist now teaching a writing program has a student who tells him he's writing a novel that is guaranteed to be the next big thing. HUGE, Harry Potter level. After Jacob hears the plot, he agrees it is nothing like he has ever heard before and it haunts him years. He wonders why it's never been published and goes off googling and discovers the student died without ever publishing the book. So Jacob takes the plot and writes the novel as his own... This was somewhat an edge-of-your-set book as it alternates between Jacob's life and chapters in the the novel he wrote, so you are slowly making your way to finding out what was the amazing plot secret. 4/5

Mainly you're welcome; every once in a while no problem.
There's a lady in our community who posts on every neighborhood/community outlet and when people say thank you to her, she replies, "welcome." It drives.me.bonkers! I'd be happier if she did a simple YW, but leaving that "you're" off makes me cringe.

My area is bonkers right now. Houses are selling before they hit the market or the day they are listed. I would sell and get a slightly larger home but there are no homes to buy. My house is only 5 years old and I'm happy with it so I'm in the process of refinancing on a 15 yr mortgage.
I don't trust Zillow at all. They show my address as the house next door; the square footage is wrong (for either house); and the price per square foot is way off.

I would tip, and generously. We’re lucky businesses like that have survived covid. I don’t think it has to be your typical percentage but i would probably do $150 for what you describe. I would for this reason. These types of people suffered during covid and I would tip something to show my support.

I listened to Hunter Biden's memoir, Beautiful Things and it was captivating. Hunter Biden made me cry. I knew he and his brother Beau were close, but I didn't realize how close. I also knew Hunter was a drug addict, but I didn't know just how deep his addiction had him. I truly hope he has it beat this time. 5 stars
Now I'm listening to Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. This book is so fun and the narrator is fantastic! A man wakes up in a spaceship millions of miles from Earth with no idea of how he got there or why, and his other two crewmates are dead. This is the same author who wrote The Martian so it's lighthearted and wildly entertaining.

Everyone else has said most of what I was going to say so I won't repeat, but I want to add:
It wouldn't hurt a thing to send your MIL a text in the morning to say your husband is doing ok or whatever his condition might be, and then another update in the afternoon. She's worried and waiting until 4:00 in the afternoon to hear something is agony.
Do not tell your husband all of this BS. When my dad had his heart surgeries, the doctors told us what the body goes through during those surgeries affects the patient's emotions when they come out. Things that normally wouldn't be a blimp on their radar would be extremely upsetting. They advised us to try to keep things on an even keel; no stress. Let the drama go and focus on your husband's health and getting him well.

It's funny how time has uncolored the views of Courtney. Back when she first got together with her husband everyone thought she was gross, a slut, also while condemning her mother for allowing her daughter to marry a man so much older than her daughter. Now things seem so different and it's easy to see she was taken advantage of and her behavior is a result of her upbringing, grooming, and environment. I feel sorry for her. Her mother threw her to the wolves... who sends their child off to be abused by a 50-60something man? And then to have to read "kill yourself" messages from Chrissy while going through that? I hope she's in therapy now.
