Now, that is cute. I love goats, especially the babies. But the screaming goat-- not so much.

I've lately seen a few commercials with a screaming goat. Is it supposed to be funny? I don't get it.
Color me stupid.

If you buy it, it's yours to do with what you like. No need for sour grapes from someone who could have asked more and gotten it.

DGS is being baptized tomorrow. I've been so looking forward to this! But... I came down with a terrible cold (nonstop coughing, fever, aches, the works). Looks like I'll be staying home.

... because I hate the way some people drive.
I can't count the many "near misses" I've had while driving lately on the highway due to other drivers drifting out of their lane while texting, talking on the phone, talking to their passenger, or just "bullying" their way across several lanes because they suddenly see the exit they need and they want to get over.
Really, people, there are others on the road; take that into consideration.
Ok, vent over.

It really doesn't sound as if she's able to take in enough fluid to make up for the vomiting and diarrhea. Is she urinating much?
I'd be inclined to take her in again.

Is it possible to add a third position? Realistically, it sounds as if (with her family situation) she is more suited to a junior position. As much as she wants to perform, it seems that personal issues are in the way for her.
Has management thought about a lead position (I would say that you would be qualified) with one or two junior postitions? Maybe it's time to have a sit-down with the owner.

When I interview job candidates these are the kinds of questions I like to hear:
Is the culture more collaborative or independent? What are the educational opportunities in your organization? What do I need to do to be the best fit for your team? What is the process for conflict resolution within your team? How will I know if I am meeting expectations?

This is crude, but my first thought is "who is she screwing to be able to keep her job?" Yeah, an immature response.
But really, it makes me sick that a person who is in a leadership position can display an abysmal lack of self control and still remain in leadership. Certainly, that school district can do better.

Dear IT
When you update a server, and the server will essentially render my home based staff unable to work from home until the machine is brought in and fixed, please let me know ahead of time. It sucks to try to log in remotely on a Monday morning and find out you can't. Oh, and don't be rude when my staff brings in their machines to be fixed (as instructed) Grrrrrrr.

I've never seen one in a waiting room. Hotel rooms, yes, but not at the doctor/dentist. Wouldn't bother me, though.

DD is married and would never have wanted to wear it, but I keep it anyway.

Yes - quite a few unfortunately. Both jail and prison. Forgive me for asking what might seem a silly question - we use the terms jail and prison interchangeably here, they mean the same thing. Obviously from this post, in the US it does not. Is one state and the other Federal? Where I live (Midwest), jail is usually a year or less incarceration, and the jail is located in each county, so the inmate stays locally, unless there is an overcrowding issue.

Yes, several. For the majority of them, you wouldn't know it, even if you got to know them. Just stupid, youthful mistakes.
I also had a high school teacher who turned out to be a serial killer, a former co-worker who was convicted of murdering her husband, and one of my friends' dads robbed a bank. You wouldn't have guessed it from any of them.

Medical office coding and hospital coding are different. Hospital coding is definately not dying out. In fact, it's hard to find coders to hire. Most hospitals require 2-years experience but if you look around you may find a coder trainee position. Absolutely. Hospital coders are hard to come by. The hospital where I work finds it nearly impossible to fill a coding position. Even though there is a lot of automation in coding now, a coder still has to look over the automated codes and make sure they are accurate. Computer assisted coding is still in its infancy and has a long way to go before it's very reliable. Coder training is quite varied. If you are looking into coding/billing in a medical office, some of the shorter courses of study are sufficient. Just make sure that the training will adequately prepare you to take a certification exam, such as a CPC. If you want to get into hospital coding, you would probably want to take a more involved course of study, such as an RHIT program (2 years). Along with coding classes, you would take anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, health care statistics, and some computer classes. It's really not that scary-- it's very doable, and a lot of schools have distance classes that you can take at home. Plus, the extra training gives you some knowledge that would allow you to branch out into other areas besides being a staff coder. For example, I started out as an inpatient staff coder, and now I split my time between coding team lead and working with our IT department on maintenence and testing of coding software. Where I work (Midwest, 250 bed hospital) hospital coders start out at about 15.00 an hour and the scale goes to about 25.00 an hour. Also, not sure of the settlement that you have worked out with STBX, but is it possible to get support while you train for a job? When friends of ours split (he left her for a "newer model") it was in their settlement that he pay for her schooling and provide spousal support for two years, along with child support. This gave her some time to train for a job that would enable her to be self-sufficient (she had been a SAHM the whole 18 years they were married). Good luck to you, and here's hoping that Mr. Globetrotter gets bitten by Karma sooner rather than later.

Thank you, OP, for broaching this difficult topic. And thanks for everyone who has shared their stories. Very brave of all.
I have decided that sex is just one part of the complicated thing that is called marriage. DH and I have rarely been on the same page sexually. We have learned (over time and sometimes painfully) to work it out with loving compromise. Not ideal, but it's what we have to do.
Each couple has to prioritize what is important in the relationship. It is different for each couple. And then you factor in health status, societal pressure, and life stage, and, well, it is often difficult to navigate.

Another vote for Trip Advisor. There are certain things we need from a hotel, and I narrow the search by that criteria, then read the reviews.

I totally understand. When I think about the person I was in my 20's and 30's, I cringe more than a little. By the time I hit 40, I stopped pretending to be who I thought I should be and (over time) became who I really am.
But oh, when I think of the damage I must have done back then, I am more than a little sad.

When we bought our house 15 years ago, our must-have list was short:
At least 3 bedrooms A 2 car garage In our school district A basement (we get tornadoes) Larger than the 800 square foot house and the yard smaller that the 1.5 acres we had A mortgage we could afford
When we found our house we weren't seriously looking, just went to an open house on a whim. The decor was horrible, but I fell in love with the layout and the potential it had, and it met our needs.
Now that we're in a different stage of life, I think our must-haves would be different, and our list would be a bit longer.
