DH is terrified of my purse. If I press the issue, he might (gingerly) bring it to me.

I think money represents a lot of things, so if someone thinks that money would make them happy, they really need to get at what money represents to them.
Is it security? Nothing is ever secure or constant. Is it status? Public opinion is fickle and changes with the wind. etc., etc., etc.
At the end of the day, my opinion is that in order to be truly happy, we need to be able to live with uncertainty, change, and who we are as a human being. But that is just one old lady's opinion.

About two weeks ago I was folding up a heavy folding table and it slipped across the floor, over my foot and tore half my big toenail off. That sucker still hurts!

I always wondered at the blonde Baby Jesus in nativity sets. If he had hair when he was born, it would have been dark, right? I guess it's all in the artists' interpretation.

I would eat them. As others have said, they at probably smoked and pretty well salted.

DH applied for disability this past summer and we received word that he was approved.
Back story: He was severely burned as a small child and has had ongoing issues with his right leg through his life. Although his last job was a "desk job" he had issues with pain, arthritis, and infections in his legs since his injury. Last year he decided to retire early due to his health and, as a result, received reduced Social Security retirement benefits.
Although I am still working, with our reduced income we were just making it (no complaints, we have what we need right now). We know that he will eventually have to have the leg amputated, and we were at a loss as to how we were going to be able to afford to modify our home to accommodate his needs when the time comes.
But now, the disability payment he receives will equal what he would have received if he had retired "on time" and we will be able to bank the money to be able to finance the modifications that we will eventually have to make. It is truly a blessing to us and a huge relief!

Slivered almonds on top are good too. I use cream of celery soup instead of the mushroom soup because DH is mushroom-phobic.

So after work today I took a little nap.
My phone rings and it's DD. I look at the time and it's 6:25. I wonder why she is calling so early in the morning to chat. It isn't until after we hang up that I realize it's evening an not tomorrow morning. Yeah, I think I've lost it!

If someone is rude enough to ask me I tell them, "I'm voting by secret ballot." lather, rinse, repeat.

Get into a diabetic class, and take someone with you. It's well worth the time, and very informative. Makes the diagnosis much less scary and teaches you how to manage.

Jasmine, our 10 year old cat is a couch potato. She likes to play now and then, but basically enjoys being a lady of leisure. She hates it when we have company and does a great disappearing act.
Sheldon, our other (younger) cat is a typical male adolescent. He likes to be obnoxious, especially to his "sister", Jasmine. I swear he grins when he gets her to hiss at him.
