It's a form of art journalling.
Art journaling is an open-ended form of art on loose paper or in a bound journal where the focus is on the process of creating and of self-expression rather than a particular end result. Drawing, mark-making, writing, painting, and collage are often components.
Some of the more 'paired back' junk journals that use less mixed media and instead lots of different types of papers can be used for memory keeping.

I'm a bit on the fence about February. I like the bright colours but it's all just so childish. I might pick up some of the individual components if they ever became available in the shop. I'm in trouble. I'm running out of PL cards. Like, big time. I have enough until I'd say... April? I don't know where to get my cards next. I know you live in a small space and I can't remember whether digitals are an option for you or not but I'm definitely leaning towards only purchasing and using digital cards for the same reasons as you. Are you able to rely on digitals? I am very fortunate that we have a UK supplier of the Elle's Studio kits so with those and my paper pads, I've been safe so far. But without them, I'd be pretty stuck. And they don't meet my style perfectly either so it's not a long term solution.

I too am sorry for your loss mom - sending some love your way from across the pond. 6. Do you have a notebook where you keep a running list of things you want to do scrappy wise? I haven't but I am going to think about it. The Trello app seems to be a popular place to keep lists but I haven't looked into it. It's interesting that you mention Trello as I use exactly that to manage my scrapping projects. I don't do an awful lot of scrapbooking compared to some others here but I still find it very useful. 2019 was an incredible and crazy year where I had my wedding, honeymoon and multiple other trips and occasions I wanted to document. Little did I know just how much time I was going to have to document those projects in 2020! I started using Trello to help me get all the noise of the projects I wanted to complete out of my brain and into a place where I could compartmentalise it into chunks. I could have used a journal but I'm used to using digital project management software in my full time job and I wanted all the benefits of digital like being accessible from multiple devices and it being easy to edit and change. I would definitely recommend Trello. It's ideal for planning and organising if you can separate out your to-do lists by project or weekly/monthly. It works on a concept of 'Cards' (projects) that you move from one 'List' (group) to another (I use 'to start', 'in progress', 'up to date', 'parked' and 'completed') as the project progresses. I've attached a screenshot of what part of looks like for you to give you an idea. This is the Workspace view - you can click on each Card to bring up it's to-do list, attachments, notes etc. In the screenshot you can see how it shows the outstanding number of items on the to-do list even at this overall view (ie. 43 out of 46 completed for 2021 Album). I use it to record all the to-do's which is anything from purchasing an album, selecting images, backing up images, planning spreads, doing the spreads and adding in ephemera (which is particularly useful as I always forget to do this!). I love it and would be in a right pickle without it.

I really like it from an aesthetic point of view but I don't think I'll buy any of it. I have Geralyn's Pinkfresh Keeping it Real barely touched and this sort of feels the same.
As I only scrapbook the highlights of my life, I don't really have much use for collections that lean towards 'life is hard'.
I can use the occasional oopsy if I'm telling a story of something that went wrong on a trip but I don't have a use it beyond that.
I'll maybe get the ephemera when I'm placing an order for something else but I think that will be it for me.
Happy Heart is certainly pretty but not really my vibe.

This issue with SC and the missing kit components really boggles my mind.
I just cannot believe that they are running that close to the wire every month. This isn't the first time that Inked have experienced delays. Why are they not planning and creating kits much further in advance?
I guess there is no incentive to get your shit together when you can just take people's money and make them wait.

It allows you to create a paper 'attacher' that you adhere to ephemera so you can include those items in your albums without punching holes in the item itself. I find them useful for items like postcards or leaflets. Oh interesting thx. Could be handy for sure. I’ve been using the Citrus Twist adhesive page strips. I love the CT adhesive page strips - my stash that I've been hoarding since they decided to stop shipping to the UK a year ago is dwindling!

Why they don't get her to design for the DK or allow her to create the occasional overpriced mini kit for SC (not just the super themed stuff for AE like DD or WITL/DITL) is beyond my understanding. Ditto, I would eat it up like the most delicious snack. More IACB for SC would go down a treat too.

PSA for anyone who is into 'attachers' - SC have a die set and stickers in their shop. I almost jumped at the stickers and then realised they are flipping expensive for what they are and instead I am going to make some on my Cricut. Please explain this attacher die. I don’t get it lol It allows you to create a paper 'attacher' that you adhere to ephemera so you can include those items in your albums without punching holes in the item itself. I find them useful for items like postcards or leaflets.

My goal for January is to finish my 2021 album - I've only got a couple of spreads to complete.
I haven't scrapped in months because I am an event-based scrapper and with Covid, I pretty much caught up and had nothing to scrap. But with Christmas having just passed, I do have some spreads I'd like to make.
I'm not going to start on a 2022 title page or album until I have some photos to work with - I'm not feeling super confident for the month of January as I think we're going to be going back in to a lockdown here in the UK. We shall see how it goes - it might be February before I have anything to scrap from this year.

Hey penny - welcome back. It's great to see you around here again. I can sympathise with going quiet - I often come here to read but I can sometimes drop off from posting for a few months when life gets hectic. I can't answer many of your questions as I print all my photos from home, I do 6x8 pocket page albums and I don't dabble with templates. If you like the aesthetic of Paper Person, I can suggest In a Creative Bubble's digitals and I have been really enjoying Pinkfresh's recent lines too - they did a collaboration with both Kelly Purkey from PP and Geralyn from IACB. There is a lot of crossover between all their styles.

Does anyone do PL just based on events that happened that you want to document? Sort of like a traditional scrapbook album but in pocket style? *raises hand* This is how I have always done it. 2022 is my 7th year of documenting and I have always scrapped by event whether that is a birthday, a day out, a weekend away or a 2 week vacation. I keep it all together in yearly albums. I have no real interest in documenting day to day life - I can do that through separate projects such as WITL or Positivity Passport. My plan for this year will be to continue as I have for the last six years - using as many 6x8 Simple Stories albums as the year requires to tell the stories from these events. Basically, my scrapbooks are my highlight reel of all the fun adventures I go on with my husband and our dog.

I am on the fence about the DK kit. I quite like that 'new beginnings' card as I like to use cards with sentiments like that as my title page. I would buy the digitals for that card.
I hate the stamp - it's useless for my style of documenting. I like the stamp sets that are mostly sentiments and don't have fillers like that butterfly.
I hate the butterfly acetate pieces. And I cannot stand useless AF chipboard sheets with mostly text only shapes.
So I'd buy the digitals for the cards but thats it.

I had one and rarely used it. I have a pdf that I found online that the labels with colored edges. Print and punch, easy peasy. pin.it/1AgmrOWWhen I did use it, this is what I used it for but I found it really fiddly lining it up. The perfectionist in me couldn't deal with not having them perfectly equal. I also only used one size of label and it was a waste of card and ink printing the two sizes I didn't need. I prefer to print and cut on my Cricut so I sold the EK punch.

Of course that ticket set I missed out on isn't offered lol. Oh well. I'm glad that she has other digitals available, I do wish she offered physical product but I understand how much more of a pain in the ass that would be. Me too. I think she would do so well if she expanded into physical product - there is a Geralyn sized gap in the market for sure!

It's disappointing to see another small store go, although given she wouldn't ship to Australia this last year I can't say I'm really affected by her decision. I wonder if cutting all International customers played a role here. I used to buy nearly every month from FYC, despite the expensive shipping and long wait times. I can't help but agree. Sad to see them close but Elise left a sour taste in my mouth a few times and she chose to cut off shipping to my country so, shrug. Very happy to see some new content in the IACB shop and I can now purchase some of the FYC x IACB digitals and all the funds go directly to Geralyn.

I am in Portugal. My orders didn't used to get flagged by customs because SC/AE never put the real value of the order on the envelope. Now, it doesn't matter how little the order cost you always have to pay VAT, so all orders are stopped in customs, unless you have paid the VAT upfront. SC didn't have this option before but as of September they have started charging the VAT so that we can get our orders more quickly. How do they calculate the sales taxes? with SC it's never the same amount :: last month $12,65 and this month $11... Every month the sales taxes will be different? I'm a little lost with that. Were the orders of the same value? Sales tax is a percentage of the order total so if they were the same value it should be the same.

I'm really curious about how Inked will handle DD orders from NZ and Aus folks - whether they already ship via UPS/FedEx for international orders (those services are still running) or if they will have to switch carriers (which may cost them a lot more) or if they will cancel those orders (which no-one wants!) As an international, I can say that parcels for my nook of Europe are handed over to UPS. UPS then hands them over in Chicago to USPS who'll provide the final leg of the international travel before handing it over to the French La Poste. Tracking number galore! I'm assuming UPS will hand the parcels over to a different carrier for NZ, Australia and the other places no longer serviced by USPS. Maybe UPS International? This is the same for the UK (for anyone wondering). UPS transfer it over to USPS in Chicago and it's handed over to Royal Mail once it lands in the UK.

I thought the Black Friday sales for scrapbooking in general were pretty poor last year. At least that is my memory of it anyway.
The problem with SC is that they discount a lot of stuff throughout the year that they don't have anything new to discount during Black Friday, and they never seem to want to go into clearance mode where they sell everything off for a dollar.
They have junk sitting in their warehouse that they never price to clear. They're still trying to make money on it all.
An example of this is that only a few weeks back they were still trying to palm off Happy Mail kits that have been sitting in the warehouse for YEARS for like 8 bucks.

- Are SC's stamp sets photopolymer? They are simply described as "clear." - Do stamp sets still ship free when using a (% off your total order) discount code? Yes and yes! I ordered a stamp set last week with a discount code and it shipped free. I believe it's widely known that they are photopolymer but in terms of evidence, the stamps are listed as photopolymer on SB.com here.

So it is a bit like a credit card. Do you pay extra for the service? I am with the other posters that I don't buy things (except my house/vehicle) that I don't have the money for at that time. I'll use my credit card for the points, but I pay that card off every month. It’s a interest-free shop now and pay later credit service, providing you pay on time. If you miss a payment, interest and charges applies.

Glen Coco is a male and isn’t one of the Mean Girls. Sorry. Never assume. Though I knew/should have known because he got candy grams (whatever that is) 😁 I agree with the other ladies! Grab yourself some snacks and watch Mean Girls - it’s iconic!

I really like watching the items I have managed to snag then sell out. It makes me feel very smug. Not a nice side to myself I know, but very satisfying. Same. I know Ali isn’t for everyone. I know her prices seem (are) outrageous. I know I could make most of the items myself. But I don’t want to. Having a selection of curated products to document December is truly one of the things I look forward to every fall. Some spend money on shoes. Some purses. Some jeans with more holes than not. We all have our thing. So yeah, I spent $8 on 6 tiny paper windows. #shrug I am genuinely chuffed for anyone who manages to get what they want, no matter how much they spend. Infact, this is the perfect time for the use of the phrase You go Glen Coco!
