It's such an elitist excuse, isn't it? "We practice the SB community's equivalent of Goop-level pricing for cheap Made in China stuff but don't you worry if you can't afford it, just get yourself some cardstock and do it poor people style!" I'm not advocating for some bizarre socialism scheme were December Daily products should be government-regulated in terms of pricing but the overall attitude of "you do you(r budget)" cheerfulness while inundating social media with CT members using the expensive stuff only, creating classes around the ever more expensive stuff, etc. is starting to smell like bourgeoisie spirit. If it were TRULY not about the stuff, she'd go back to her original DD model and just snag some stuff and put it together, right? I get that nobody on her "design team" could do that, but the DD FB guidelines clearly state you shouldn't use other product lines. I know we all know why, but for her to continue saying it... bleh. Is this for real? Is there seriously a Facebook group guideline that says you can’t participate in December Daily unless you buy AE product?

For the very first time I contemplated doing a December daily album and now I'm like meh...nothing is jumping out at me. This is my first year of DD and I have bought an album and that’s it. I won’t be spending a penny with AE until I see what’s left in the shop because the flat rate shipping for internationals is a lot. Don’t be put off - I imagine there is quite a few of us winging it this year! I might even go as rogue as to not use anything Christmas themed at all……!

The song ‘hell no, to the no no no’ just keeps playing in my head on repeat whilst reading through this thread.
Don’t forget ladies, it’s not about the stuff, it’s about the stories - but they gonna charge you $59.99 for the main kit anyway.

So I am loving the sneaks from AE as it seems really traditional (I love love nothing more than a traditional christmas) but I really like the Elle's Studio kit as well but there is a lot of pink in it, A LOT. Do you think they will both go together??? Or will it be one kit or the other? I don't particularly care for both kits put together with the sneaks we've seen from Ali's main kit so far. But I don't think they'll clash a lot. I just think you'll be a doing some work to mix and match for each page. What I wouldn't do isn't what you shouldn't do. This is really a matter of personal taste. I feel like the biggest clashes will be the different lettering styles and overall aesthetics rather than the colours (you can just avoid the navy elements when using the black and dark grey stuff from Ali and so on). Good luck with your decision! Agreed with all of this. I don’t find Ali’s style to play well with other manufacturers because of how dominating her hand lettering style is.

Thanks ladies for your responses. I think I understand a little better now. For example, felt numbers. You're not printing actual felt. It's paper that looks like felt. You can change the colour, size etc. I can see where that would be advantageous. Thanks.😊 There will also be a selection of people who purchase them with no plans to print them out and instead use them to create digital scrapbook pages.

I'm surprised I like the painted wood veneer! That's usually not an embellishment I care for. It looks to be the same process as the travel collection printed wood veneer which I purchased a few months back. They are so, so nice in person. Buttery smooth with clear, crisp printing. Easily one of the nicest embellishments I've purchased in a long time. in the DD FB group, someone from Ali's team said that the IACB notebook and journal cards, will be available digitally, they didn't ask about the stamp. This is awesome news, TFS! I can make my own notebook with the digitals and fudge it up and re-print as many times as my heart desires.

I really want that IACB notebook but I just know the perfectionist in me struggles with those types of products where you don't get a do over. But I really, really want it. I couldn't make out how it is bound together in the video. If it isn't stitched but just two staples, you can easily take it apart and run it through your printer if perfectionism is your Achilles' heel. Just don't feed the sheet the wrong way through the printer! (Provided it's the handwriting and journaling you're worried about) It looks like it's stitched as if you look closely, you can see all the holes for the thread. 😫 It's probably for the best as no doubt that set will be near enough $50.

Of course, the one item a lot of people will want, the IACB stamp set is only available in the bundle.
If I was to purchase anything, it would be the 4x6 Holiday Phrases stamp, fabric patches and the Geralyn cards.
I really want that IACB notebook but I just know the perfectionist in me struggles with those types of products where you don't get a do over. But I really, really want it.

I am not interested in paying for content but I don't mind supporting people's content by being a Patreon.
By that I mean, I am a $1 Patreon to a guy I discovered through Tiktok last year. I really enjoy his content about his travels and his day to day life in a culture that's different to mine. I choose to support him with a small amount every month so he can continue to create content.
I have no interest in paying X amount per month to access someones videos but I don't mind being a supporter with a dollar or two a month.

So funny that you asked! My 22 yr. old graduated, has a job (nurse) and rents an apt. with here college roommate. They adopted a cat a few weeks ago. The cat has been with us until my daughter gets the paperwork turned into the apt. I have never had a cat or been a cat lover. But I don't want my daughter to take her cat home! I love him! And he loves belly rubs. I asked my husband an hour ago if all cats like that (he grew up with cats). So fun to read this thread and learn about cats. I was clueless. Cats have wildly different temperaments and I have no idea what influences it. My mum's cat would sooner claw your eye out than allow a belly rub. He just about tolerates a scratch behind the ear when it suits him but quickly lets you know with a swipe when he's had enough. For that reason, I would personally never own a cat. They're so unpredictable!

Interesting that there is no mention of non-EU countries that require the collection of VAT. I've just added something to my cart and went to check out and there is no VAT being added.
I changed the shipping address to France and it added the sales tax, though.

Although, I might get that buffalo plaid from Simple Stories to avoid AE & co. all together... I could combine it with that PinkFresh loveliness... aaahhhhh! The one issue I'd see here (and I hate to point it out because the Simple Stories holiday binders are really great value) is that the company tends to like a subdued look. The colours look more vintagey IRL, generally. And since these collections are releasing in September, you're stuck waiting several more weeks before someone unboxes it and shows the items on camera. Not sure this would be a perfect fit for Pinkfresh. Maybe if you covered or painted the inside pattern paper? I have the Simple Stories buffalo plaid flip book which I'm planning to use in December and I think it's gorg. The black is strong and the white is more of an off-white but that is typical of Simple Stories albums. It's repeated on the inside, though, so I cannot comment on the inside of the 6x8 album that uses the red. I wish that the buffalo plaid album continued onto the inside so it could be used all year around.

Ahhh that makes sense, that’s probably what I’ll end up doing 🙃, just to supplement my AE stories kit as I’m wanting to have a go at PL next year, for my sins! papertreerings I'm in the UK too - did you know that Hey Little Magpie stocks the Elle's Studio monthly kit? I don't think you can sub, though that might be an asset - you can choose whether or not to buy. I don't know how long behind the curve they arrive though. You right that you cannot subscribe through HLM. In terms of availability, they're usually pretty good and available for sale a few days after it launches on Elle's Studio. There has been a delay this month though for some reason. No idea why the August kit isn't in stock yet. I assume it's because they're waiting for the Christmas line and they'll launch it all together.

I am from the U.K. and you can expect to wait up to 5 weeks for a delivery from SC or any of the Inked brands such as Ali Edwards. I have a package from Ali Edwards that hasn’t arrived yet that was shipped three weeks ago. Thank you, so you SUB? I don’t think 5 weeks is actually that bad, I was thinking months and months 🙈😂 I am not subbed at the moment but I was a few months back. The only thing that bothered me consistently was that every month, on the first, the new kit would be revealed but I still hadn’t received the previous months kit. That was annoying. But I only don’t subscribe right now because I find the kits inconsistent. I just sign up now when I want that months kit and then cancel my sub when it’s shipped.

Not from the UK but I know I have read *LOTS* of complaints about the shipping times. Like, a lot lot. Thanks, that’s what I’m worried about. Kinda sucks the life out of you when you can’t play at the same speed as everyone else 🙈 I am from the U.K. and you can expect to wait up to 5 weeks for a delivery from SC or any of the Inked brands such as Ali Edwards. That canvas pocket is a complete no for me. I would never purchase it out of complete principle for many of the reasons mentioned. The quality is awful - the fraying would drive me nuts and it's completely off-centered. I am not prepared to fund anyone's lifestyle when the product is poor quality with the inevitable high price tag. The ethics - sewing machine and cotton growing labour as mentioned by joblackford for something that is so pointless. What is the point? To put two paper tags in with some journalling on? Come on. What a complete waste of resources. Big hard fat no. I want to see less plastic but I don't want it to look like this.

Some Elle's Studio sneaks in my email this morning! On sale August 25th at 8AM pst. Special introductory price until September 6th. THIRTY. FIVE. addons. Seems extreme but I don't remember how many there were last year. Subs get either an extra 10% off or having it ship free with their September subscription. There are some bits in this that I'm really vibing with. I love Elle's Studio chipboard stickers - it's just right for pocket pages. Hate the scripty font puffys but I don't get on with that type of embellishment in general. Some of the cards look cute. I'm hoping that some of these Christmas bits end up at my online store of choice here in the UK.

Personally, I don't like having stuff out on my desk. I don't have a huge desk and I have to use it for my iMac, Cricut and have space to work so I keep my desktop relatively clear and use Ikea Kallax units and a cart/trolley to organise my supplies. I use these Sistema split storage containers for labels. I've organised my labels by colour in this way for a while and it works well for me. I cut all my own labels on my Cricut so they're all the same style, just different colours. I have two of these containers - one for blue & green tones, one for pink/yellow tones. You could have as many or as few as you need and pull out the container that works for your project. I use 6x4 photo cases similar to these to organise embellishments by category. If you choose to organise in this way, the categories you decide on will depend on how your brain works and the size of your stash. I labelled them both with my Dymo label maker. I like mini plastic crates like these in my cart/trolley to organise chipboard, kits etc. I imagine you guys can get something like this in Target in lots of colours. I wasn't really sure how I could use my cart to it's full potential until I bought these. I've found they fit perfectly and provide an area to store things that I want to be able to see easily whist crafting. For example, I have one with chipboard as I use chipboard all the time. So when I'm crafting, I can just pull it onto my desk and flip through and pop it back into the cart when I'm finished.

The realistic alternative is that they stop selling to the EU/UK completely, though. Of course it would be great if they collected VAT at the time of purchase but when you look at the rest of the US scrapbook retail, they just can't be bothered. We're not big enough business for them to invest the time/money/whatever resource into implementing the right systems. I have never had a problem with paying customs and duty when it's been necessary. I would much rather that than the reality of the alternative which is that we cannot purchase from the US at all. AE/SC are the only remaining places I can purchase from in the US. Without them, my hobby would be pretty much over. So I unfortunately can't join the camp of grumbling when you do get taxed by your own country. I would be shouting bring on the taxes if it meant I could purchase albums from Citrus Twist again, or the occasional kit from FYC. Oh I agree. It's not the taxes that bother me so much, it's the extra steps needed to get my order every month. If AE charged me the taxes straight away it would be much easier. I am grateful that I can still get products from the US as otherwise my hobby would be difficult to keep going. I agree with that too. Paying up front would save time on what is already such a lengthy process. I get particularly miffed when it takes AE or SC six days to send me a shipping notification because that's another week and a half I've lost before it even sets off on it's journey. Trying to stay soooo patient though as local options are limited. It's such a shame we rely so much on the US for scrapbooking supplies.

sleepingbooty Do you know if this thread is up to date? Is it just Paper Person that you cannot purchase from in the EU? I've checked the other 'main retailer' sites and it seems to be mostly the UK that they won't ship to. I'm shut off from Paper Person and FYC as a EU citizen. Which other main retailers are you looking at? Citrus Twist and Everyday Explorers only mention the UK, so not sure if you guys were on their list.

Then I have to pay €2 customs fee + 23% VAT on everything, that includes the purchase, shipping and customs fee. So, for example, last month's kit which originally cost me 26.31€ now cost me an extra 8.51€. I have to go through this process because Inked has not registered to charge sales tax on orders from EU customers. If they had then I would pay them the tax directly and my orders wouldn't get stuck in customs every month. The realistic alternative is that they stop selling to the EU/UK completely, though. Of course it would be great if they collected VAT at the time of purchase but when you look at the rest of the US scrapbook retail, they just can't be bothered. My items arrived yesterday. I bought the Brandi Kincaid Kit-it arrived in a nice white box with red stars-but no 4 x 4 binder. No big deal, the contents were worth the 5.00 but it was stated on the description the binder was included. I did start a conversation with customer service. Yeah that’s not okay! It’s listed as included so I hope they send it to you, rather than passing you off with a refund. 1 - 4x4 Matte Coated Chipboard Album 2.5" Spine 2-Hole D-ring Binder Outer 5.5" x 6.5" Gold 1.26" x 2.52" Bookplate 31 Page protectors 24 - 4x4 Double-sided Journal Cards 1 - Columbia Mini Ink Block 1 - 2x3 Stamp Set 1 - 4x6 Puffy Sticker Sheet 1 - 4x6 Sticker Sheet

I know the feeling! For some reason I was not at all interested in this album when it first came out but I picked it up when it went down to $15 before this week’s sale. I figured that the 3x8 page protectors pack of 20 on its own sells for $12.99 and this album includes 31 pps. So that calculation won our in the end, but the color is really nice IRL. Agreed. I grabbed it in the sale a month or two back as it's been discounted for quite a while. The colour is gorgeous and the page protectors inside made it a bargain at $15. I kept umming and ahhing about buying another and then of course they sold out! I was tempted by the $2 sale too. I bought the travel pouch and the 'not the stuff, it's the stories' pouch because I need more pouches like I need a hole in the head. I just cannot resist a pouch! Those along with a couple of cheap DD stickers will wing it's way to me in the UK, hopefully in time for December.

I'm coming along for the ride this year gals. It will be my first December project. I'm not sure I can quite commit to daily but I'm going to do something! I like that green album, I'd never use it but it looks pretty from far away heh I'm feeling it too! I am really excited for the album offerings this year. The 10x8 is definitely a step too far for me but I can see why it appeals to people. It is such a nice size for putting on your lap and flipping through with family or friends.

Is it just me or is Heidi really taking control of the planning of her sons wedding?
I’ve just seen a post on Instagram stories of gifts shes made for the groomsmen and she’s signed them from her? Surely any gift for the groomsmen would come from the groom, not his mother?
That would be seriously overstepping the mark in the weddings I’m used to attending.
