Monday 10: Found some things in the laundry today. Straight into the recycle or rubbish bin 2 teatowels 2 tops saved from spray bottles- does anyone else save these planning to buy refills next time, only to realise the refills are never on sale and are more expensive than buying a whole new discounted bottle!? 3 empty candle jars 3 empty decorative bottles I keep thinking I'll re-use all the pretty jars but I hardly ever do, so out they go.

I have several different kinds of jars that I thought I’d use. I even bought Oui jar lids but never made those cute desserts that I thought I would. So tomorrow there will be several jars going into the recycling bin.

Where are you guys donating your items? Our Goodwills in Los Angeles are not open for donations. I have a box of stuff to take to Vinnies/Goodwill later, but also putting stuff on Fbk Marketplace for free or super cheap.

Loving the idea of just finding a few things at a time😊 Slow 'n easy does it... Yesterday I cleaned out the bottom of the linen closet and all the hotel/sample shampoo, lotion, and other toiletries. Threw out 51 items, including the plastic cosmetic bag that was holding all the items (many of which had leaked). This stuff was over 10 years old for sure! Mmm, leaky lotions! I remembered I should record what I had counted yesterday... and then I realized I must’ve been doing the Min game in a dream last night! Does decluttering in one's dreams count or is it just your subconscious trying to remind you to get busy?... I started to clean up the bag, but I didn’t see myself using it and decided it wasn’t worth the effort!

Recycled an empty shoe box that’s been sitting in the bottom of my closet for too long. Also recycled some junk mail.

Today got rid of 10 stamp sets. They are on the buy/sell page if anyone wants them.
Tomorrow (yup I’m in the future) 14 bottles of acrylic paint. I have 6 remaining in my stash now.

11 Oui jars. Cute little things but they’re taking up space and not being used.

I got on the ladder to check the stuff higher up today. Oh, what an adventure amongst the dust bunnies... *atchoo* August 11 and leaving: - 4 items that rolled over from yesterday's count - 2 pillow cases - 2 ski undershirts - 1 set of winter PJs - 1 polar fleece vest - 2 dish towels that just won't absorb water properly Rolling over 1 item to tomorrow's count.

11 Oui jars. Cute little things but they’re taking up space and not being used. I love those little jars! but luckily we didn't much like the yogurt inside so I only gathered a couple. At least if you regret getting rid of them they're easy to get again. For me it's the "very useful" 2 piece boxes that my favorite photo paper comes in. They're perfect organizing trays to use inside drawers. And so I have about a dozen of them. I think I need to let go...

I've already told myself that one of these last day or days of the month I'm going to attack my "but it's a great box!" collection. I'll never use all of these - even if my ebay selling booms - there's still far too many. Plus I usually try to ship in either a poly envelope or a padded envelope if at all possible!

Good luck to everyone getting rid of "but they'd be perfect for..." items. It's hard but when you're ready to let go, you just are.

Boxes add so much weight, they're almost never cost effective to use anyway, even if you have the right size, which I never do. I should recycle most of mine too... "but it's a great box!" I have been using some of my shipping boxes to kill my lawn and make new gardens, some are used as donation boxes. It looks like Give Back Box is still doing its thing even during the pandemic (or at least I didn't see anything saying it wasn't). You can use any old shipping box to send stuff directly to a charity in your area by post. Big companies cover the cost of shipping them. givebackbox.com/faq

Good luck to everyone getting rid of "but they'd be perfect for..." items. It's hard but when you're ready to let go, you just are. We're all experts as seeing POTENTIAL... it's the crafty brain at its finest. (I cleared out the craft room of a deceased relative who saw potential in so many things. It was so taxing to throw out giant bags of empty tampax tubes, film canisters, moss, pinecones, takeout salsa cups, and millions of other small things she'd collected for miniatures she never actually made... it was depressing in so many ways...)

I mentioned before that I have a friend that I text with everyday that's doing the challenge with me. She's quite the minimalist and has gone over her house with a fine tooth comb many times. I love her texts. The things she's tossing are recipe cards, brochures, and random pieces of paper. She's awesome. I want to be like her. Her garage is so clean and tidy, too.

Elsabelle one day I hope that’s me. Until then I keep decluttering. I’m already light years ahead of where I was 2 years ago. My cabinets used to be overflowing. Now I have room in all of them. When you sit back and look at what you are using regularly it’s a small fraction of what you have and you can often times go without that once in a while thing. It took me 2 years to get here. Some days I want to throw it all away and start over.

I must have missed this thread when you started, but I’ve been on a bit of a purge and would love the incentive to keep going.
1-Murphy bed 2- heeley shoes 4-more shoes 6-kid books 7-outdoor table and chairs 20-ds’s toys from a room clean out 29-clothes purge from ds’s room 30-scrapbook embellishment 31-scrap paper
I got rid of quite a bit more scrap stuff, but wasn’t counting at the time. I discovered a thrift store is taking donations so I took a load today and it has motivated me to keep going now that I have an outlet to get rid of it.
ETA- I’m a bit out of order, so I’ll catch up and continue correctly.

Today I went through my baking cabinet and got rid of a couple of items. Then I went through my stamp pads and got rid of any colors that were close to others. I have some of the new CTMH pads and some old so I tried to get rid of the old style that were similar. I also went through all my 6x6 paper pads and got rid of 3. I have 3.5 left.
I also downloaded the Mins game tracker so I can keep track. I have been getting ahead of myself some days.

We're halfway through the month and I can no longer deny that I'm avoiding going through my closet and dresser.

I've had a busier than expected week at work so I've definitely fallen behind on decluttering, but I did manage to remove some old solar lights from my garden that no longer work.

Can I claim my daughter's efforts as my own lol. I've just dropped off four sports bags full of old school uniforms, books and basketball gear to the Salvos. She was inspired by my effort this week and finally let go of some things she's been holding on to since she finished high school almost two years ago.

day 3: 11 art and science kits to donate and 1 box of assorted junk in the bin from the craft cabinet on-going total = 24I've fallen behind and this is day fourteen and I should have 105 total - I'm not there yet. I have added 3 books that I finished and won't re-read, 2 pillowcases that were surplus to requirements, 8 broken photo frames, one pair of pyjamas that were too big, and one apron (the ties had so many knots I had trouble untying it everytime I wore it). so that's 15 more added to the 24 is 39 I see I have my work laid out today as I need to find 66 unneeded items...I think I'm going through my sticker folders

35 sticker sheets, Jolees (why did I have 2 sets of the Vatican? I've never been and am unlikely to go), etc...
4 sheets of paper
5 pieces of trash
and I've gone though the hanging folders that hold the majority of my 'themed' scrapbook stuff
so...adding 44 to my previous total of 39 brings me to 83 and DD is donating a zippered pouch of crochet hooks so 84
I'm still behind so I need to go through something else today
on-going total - 84 Day 14 should be 105
