I replaced my shredder, so I am looking forward to cleaning out my file drawers. We had to replace ours recently too and DH has enjoyed shredding so much he's gone looking for more things to shred just for fun.

Found my 15 items today. Kid puzzles and bubbles, candles, some toiletry items, a basket, a jar, and a vacuum attachment to an old vacuum. We are nearing the middle of the month. How are you all doing? So far this is embarrassingly easier than I thought it would be. And I thought I did pretty well getting rid of clutter before.

Elsabelle, so much easier than I thought. Every day I think I won’t find anything and then I find a treasure trove of things. I’m also being really ruthless and getting rid of a lot of just in case and duplicate items.

one dead pen one placemat and one napkin that had seen better days one more book that I've finished reading one broken bath brush
five more items - I'm still behind but I'm getting there
on-going total - 89 Day 14 should be 105

I've had more days not cleaning out things that I expected, or hoped, but progress is still progress. I tackled one very overgrown garden bed and weeded the whole thing. I finished cleaning out my desk drawers today and got rid of a bunch of pens and pencils that are not worth keeping, a stash of paperwork, some post it notes that don't tear off the pad properly, and pulled out a screen protector for my DH's phone so I can actually replace his damaged one. We have hard rubbish starting Monday so I dragged our old outdoor setting to the front of the house, and when my DH is free I'll get him to help me put it on the nature strip for collection.

Just do what you can. I've been doing some long overdue yardwork, too. It's exhausting. I've taken down a large blackberry bush. That sucker is stubborn.

Trying to catch up on this challenge today:
Aug 11: Kids toddler tunes CD that my DS has outgrown 1 bottle of No More Tear Stains dog eye cleaner (no longer have dogs) Noise amplifier that came free to my FIL from AARP (FIL moved out five years ago) Set of coasters (we don't need 4 sets of coasters in one room - yes, I kept the other three - shameful!) A stack of outdated coupons 2 travel size bottles of shampoo four bottles of dog shampoo (see above) Old mix of ear cleaner goop that my vet gave to me probably 10 years ago (yes, again, see above - why was I keeping this stuff?)

I found today’s 15 items in a drawer of scrap tools and supplies. It’s an assortment of deco scissors, embellishments, a half done and never to be completed mini album, and other odds and ends.

I donated almost all of my mini albums last winter. If I haven't used them by now, it's not going to happen. Chinagirl828 Not much feels better than finally weeding out an area!

Playing catch-up for the past 4 days + today : 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 16 - 1 (rolled over item) = 69 I was waiting until we got around to our weekend project of prepping for two small proper office spaces for autumn and winter since we're both going to be working from home most of the time to continue downsizing. Oy. Vey. We've been at it for two hours already and it's the worst puzzle ever! We have nowhere to put furniture or boxed stuff. No outside, no garage, no basement. It's like playing a game of giant Tetris, just moving things around constantly! Right now, we have four chairs stacked in the shower along with two boxes on the toilet seat. This pandemic is so not compatible with small living. So far, I've already set aside the following items for selling/donation/trash: - 17 MoYou nail art plates - 4 nail stampers - 2 nail stamp scrapers - 5 nail stamp polishes - 4 5 cookbooks - 10 14 17 random books - 1 2 pairs of shoes - 1 stack of papers - 3 greeting cards - 1 bunch of wood veneer shapes - 1 bunch of cork shapes - 1 bunch of camera chipboard shapes - 1 half-used Project Life mini kit from forever ago - 2 bottles of nail polish - 2 bowls - 1 box of expired medication - 6 sheets of alpha stickers - 2 sheets of pattern paper Updating the list as the day unfolds and more stuff is unearthed.

I cleaned up our cat food shelf today. We lost one of our cats recently so I got rid of the last couple of tins of food that our other cat won't eat, and also disposed of some old cat medication. In my mind I was going to achieve so much more today

Chinagirl828 Sorry about the loss of your kitty. It can't be easy to clear their old stuff but I hope it was therapeutic.

Aug 12: (yeah, catching up did not go according to plan)
7 bottles of wine (given to a friend who will actually enjoy them - rather than them gathering dust at my house) 1 broken measuring cup. It was plastic and must have had a hairline crack because I noticed the milk I filled it with the other day was leaking out onto the counter 4 empty tubs of play d'oh. Maybe I wanted to replace the colors at some point? I don't know. Don't ask me why I was keeping empty play d'oh containers.

I've lost count, but I am still going through things. Scrappy things. Clothing things. My things. The boys things. All the things. I have a car load ready to be dropped off at either 1) a friends house 2)women's shelter 3) a resale shop

I hit that hall cabinet today and tossed 16 items. I can’t remember all of it but I know there were badly painted terra cotta pots, candle holders, a bathtub stopper, and several other useless items.

I got to 73 items yesterday. I needed 69 to catch up. That leaves 4 for today so 13 items to find. 3 rolls of washi tape, 2 hair ties, 2 pairs of house slippers, 2 CDs, 1 planner dashboard, 1 lamp shade, 1 Christmas ornament, 1 wax seal stamp head. Done for the day, woohoo! Also, how is there still so much stuff in my place? Where is it coming from? Are there house elves hiding stuff whenever I go on a declutter session?

Yesterday I got rid of sequins and glitter and a couple spices. I have already gained a couple items today from more sequins. Off t find the next area to work on.
Today I went through my ribbons and washi and got rid of more. Even more importantly I emptied out a storage bin that they were in so I can remove that large bin from my craft area.

I kept the box of brochures and flyers from work over the years for later in the month and tackled part of it today. That's 23 ready to be recycled! I'll carry 5 over to tomorrow.

Just going through one drawer of makeup brought my count to over 100 Then finding a giant box of old letters helped me bring it to at least 150. And yes! I count each letter I thrown away as one. They're harder to throw away than the old makeup!

All right, this is my first check-in, because, well, life happens. I'm working through catching up and have gotten enough items to take me through the 14th, and have cleaned out a lot of old makeup/toiletries, broken and unused hangers, along with some odds and ends. I have grand plans to get to some memorabilia this weekend and hit my numbers that way (as I highly doubt I need to keep all my certificates and awards from every school activity or sport I participated in). Well done everybody, we are all doing great!

I also took out any cards dealing with travel and with school to use over the next month. I’m trying to not only get rid of stuff but to also use stuff. I’m feeling like I’m winning over here today. My life is all in order until tomorrow. 🤣

Today I’m knocking off 90 things that I’ve been procrastinating forever. I put my dd in charge. Today is the art bins that have been housing each of my kids’ artwork. I am going to invest the money and send them off and made into books so technically 90 things are leaving today and 3 will eventually be returning. Whatever doesn’t make the cut will be tossed and I’m opting not to have the artwork returned. Luckily none of my kids were very artistic so I’m not tossing the early works of future Picassos. Anyway this is a big step for me to purge something nostalgic.
