I know most people here disagree with , or possibly/probably hate me. While that's not my wish, it is what it is . People ask why anyone voted for Trump and what they feel now. So here goes.
I'm a traditionalist. I'm a conservative. I don't hate foreigners and I don't want them deported. I want a faster, easier path for citizenship. Citizenship. If you want to work and live here legally, I'm all for reform and faster ways of making that happen if you're not a criminal.
I'm for helping the elderly , disabled, and those who've had hard times. I'm a child of divorce with a sick child. Obama care was a positive in that regard.
I'm also a Catholic and I have ideas some people think are stupid or may despise. That's your right and I can accept that.
Where those who wonder why I don't vote Democrat lose me is simple. I'm tired of hearing these things: I hope you die, you're shit head, You're a cunt, I want to throat punch you, you're a disgrace, you're a pile of shit.
Again, free speech and feel free to think that.
But I have to say that 1:2 Americans are not vile people. You don't know what strangers think and people who work in EMS, law enforcement, law, medicine, etc, are quite likely to lean right. No one corners the market on jobs, as much as you may think they do.
So if you are of the opinion that simply being a conservative makes someone as some like to say a "cunt", you will never change their mind.
Not a flame out . Not a whoas me. People have always had difference of opinion. Not every Republican backed Kennedy's assassination. Not every Democrat wanted Lincoln shot. The fact that people can now no longer consider that people's decisions are completely wrong or right is sad.
Many here say "they won't come back", "they won't stand up for themselves". You want dialogue? You want change? Maybe don't say you want every Trump voter dead or rotting in hell. Just a thought.

Not in reference to the other thread, but it has been said countless times here that our issues are mostly not with conservatives, but with Trump supporters. There is a distinction.

So you voted for Trump because of the things people are saying during an insurrection months AFTER the election? I didn’t realize conservative thoughts were so clairvoyant.

What is happening in the capitol building now is totally an expected result of being called a mean name on a message board. 🙄

You are not a conservative. You are a Trump supporter. You voted for someone who had no business ever being voted in. Ever.
There are conservatives and Republicans. Then there's Trump supporters. You cannot be both.
I don't care if you think I'm being mean. I have no nice words left for anyone who voted for Trump in November.

Are you saying that you didn’t vote for Biden because you disagree with Biden supporters? So, out of spite you voted for Trump? I voted for the future of the country based on the candidates speeches and actions.
If you voted for Trump because of abortion, please own that. I don’t agree with it, but I can at least understand that choice.
eta- I don’t hate you personally. I do hate Trump more than I have ever hated anyone. I hate his children, McConnell and others like Hawley and Cruz for enabling and encouraging Trump. And I have some strong feelings of resentment for the Trump supporters for what has happened to our country in the last year. And hatred for the supporters who are rioting and breaking into our Capitol. I hate that they are holding American flags while cheering, celebrating and high fiving the chaos, destruction and violence they have created.

And there you have the thought police. Nice. I voted for Bush, who was equally the Antichrist. Got called the same names. I don't support Trump. I oppose unmitigated migration, ever increasing hand outs, taxation, and cancel culture. Be as mean as you want. If the goal is group think ,one policy and no dissent, good for you. You think all dems support AOC? I'd don't support Trump, but I don't support Biden even more. I don't think he's fit and I don't want Harris. Am I a racist? No. Disagree? Ask your party why she was the first out of the running. It wasn't because she was a woman....

Thanks for trying to offer some clarity. I do wish we could have an actual conversation and get to the root of the problems, but that’s not going to happen on a board..
Prior to trump, 2012 election and before, did you refuse to vote Democrat because of the name calling? Has it always been happening, in your opinion?

As the only dem in a family of republicans in a fairly red area, I don't think I've ever heard someone say those things, but I don't doubt they have. I can also tell you that I don't think I've thought or said those things about anyone (well, maybe Trump and McConnell). I think there is a lot of common ground with most people, but if one more Republican talks down to me I might call them a cunt. You can't carry on a conversation with someone who is convinced they have all the answers.
I am a Catholic too -- but I think voting according to one's religion is a huge mistake. Imposing my personal choices (or the ones my religion dictates) is unfair and unjust. I also can't stomach the conspiracy crap. If you actually believe that nonsense, we have nothing else to talk about.
One more thing. If you get your information from blogs and/or Facebook, you (general you, not OP) need a lesson in critical thinking.

I'm not American so ignore me if you wish...but being Conservative/voting Republican in any previous election has not been met with this reaction - consider why that is. I don't think people generally have a problem with people voting Conservative, but voting for Trump...voting that way this time...has had predictable and terrible results. The writing was on the wall - 10 feet high. THAT is the issue I believe.

Sorry, but but your statements I don’t support Trump and I voted for him are contradictory. By voting for him, you did support him. And after a disastrous 4 years, you voted for him again? If you’re concerned about the lives of unborn children, what about the lives of 350,000 Americans who died of covid, in part because of Trump’s incompetence?

I’ll use your own words... “If the goal is group think, one policy, and no dissent, hood for you...” Do you really believe that to be opposite of what trump is doing? Because in reality, it’s not. You’re only allowed to hold one view—and that is to have loyalty to trump. Not the constitution, not the Republican Party, not to the United States of America, just trump. Trumps policies favor the wealthy only, rape our lands, increased the deficit by billions, and we’re going to see more tax increases in the next years because of his policies. And well, you can hear—directly from trumps mouth what happens to dissenters. Why was Kamala first out of the running?

Also disagree that Bush was the antichrist. Apples and oranges. I did not vote for Bush, I disagreed on many issues, particularly the invasion of Iraq, but I did at least respect him. And I wasn’t embarrassed every time he opened his mouth. He also led this country through a national tragedy with courage, compassion, empathy and true leadership. Qualities that Trump has never demonstrated.
Not only that, but every day of Trump’s presidency, I would have preferred Bush over Trump in a heartbeat. Especially during the last year. Bush never faced defeat in a presidential election, but I can guarantee that he would have conceded 2 months ago and we would never be where we are today if he were the outgoing president.

As a rape survivor for years by my step father however I wish you would reconsider your position. They don't care. BABEEZ trump all. You can point out the MILLIONS of cases of rape/incest/endangerment of the mother. You can point out that NO OTHER HUMANS have the right to use the organs of another person w/o consent. You can point out that God is the most prolific abortionist in history (if you believe in him). That's why I say they will vote God, guns, gays, greed no matter how putrid the person sporting the (R) label. Also the level of cognitive dissonance it takes to say "I don't support Trump." and "I voted for Trump."

Sorry, I lied. I read your post again and have a few more questions. If you’re opposed to taxation, how can you support Trump? His tax cuts only benefited the ultra wealthy. More assumptions on my part, but if you are teacher, it’s unlikely you benefited from Trump’s tax cuts for millionaires. I’m also wondering where you get your news? Genuine question. Where did you hear about Biden’s positions on immigration, hand outs, taxes etc. May I suggest fact checking your sources? buildbackbetter.gov

It is also wrong to say that you don’t support him but that you voted for him. That is the very definition of support, you have literally empowered him.

teach4u define traditionalist. That and terms like it always gets me. At what point in history would be the best to halt change because it's "the best" or the best for me. Because most places in history have traditions that hurt or at best ignore a wide range of people. Old ways aren't all the best, fair or even kind ways. Always reminds me of "not in my backyard" once your in, no change please. Also, you'll never vote dem because of the names you've been called? By that logic I'll never vote Republican again either because of the names I've been called in the past four years. Truth is, I'll never (most likely, never say never) vote GOP again because of what they have done, the lines they've crossed while willfully hurting people for no other reason than who they are. and for money. and their God. Just my reaction to your thoughts, no direct attack intended.

I didn't vote for Biden because I don't support abortion at will and without parental consent. I own it. Own it!! But why can't I own my choice? Why do you have the right to choose for me or anyone else. You choose what you want, let others choose what they want. I don't think abortions should be randomly used as birth control. But that is my choice, therefore I do support choice for everyone. I do think it is a discussion between a woman and her doctor.

Sorry for all of the questions but I don’t discuss politics with any Trump supporters in person. Even my dad, who has been a solid conservative for all of his life, almost 80 years, did not vote for Trump.
Anyway, I’m wondering about your statement about Kamala Harris. Why do you think she dropped out of the race? If you don’t like her, what do you disagree on, besides abortion?

Anyone who is truly politically conservative, and understands what that actually means, isn’t a Trump supporter, nor did they vote for him.
If you (general you) voted for Trump, you aren’t really a conservative, or else you are a grossly misinformed one and shouldn’t be voting until you read up a bit.

I didn't vote for Biden because I don't support abortion at will and without parental consent. I own it. Please tell me how any anti-abortion candidate has done anything to stop abortion? You know when the numbers of abortions go down, when Democrats are in charge because they support access to health care, birth control, and education. Pro-life politicians are lip speak. They just have to talk about it to get one issue voters like you to vote for them.
