My husband works for a major food distribution company. Food manufacturers are having lots of problems. I know they are always out of chicken lately and plenty of other items also. He has also said the lack of truck drivers is a big issue currently.

My car has been in the shop for two weeks (backed in to by a new 16 year old driver in Costco parking lot!). They are having a hard time getting the parts to fix it, siting transportation issues with the trucking company.

i told my girlfriend who just bought a condo that i wanted to go to ikea for new lampshades and a couple of other things. she said they had ONE black and white herringbone lampshade (which will not work for what i want). she said empty shelves in various spots throughout the store.
when she asked, they said "supply chain issues". so no ikea for me i guess.
i have not really noticed anything else being slow. i live in canada we don't have the lightening fast shipping many of american neighbours are used to, other than amazon prime.

Vehicles, not many options and you pay full sticker price
Furniture - we ordered last month and the couch should be here in January. The chair in February
I had a rock hit my windshield and needed a replacement. They had one left in stock at the dealership and said there’s a delay getting more.

I was with ds shopping for dress clothes the other day and the stores seemed to have limited supply of dress shirts. At one of the stores the salesperson said “they are stuck in California on a ship or something”. I don’t know how valid that is.

Last week I went to Whole Foods first thing in the morning and their deli meat was empty, minus some roast beef.
DH was at Costco on Friday and they didn't have boneless/skinless chicken thighs, but when he went back on Sunday, it was in stock.
They've already said smaller Butterballs will be an issue this season.
Sam's Club stopped carrying my damn Hazelnut creamer, so now we have to hunt it down. That seemed to be an issue prior to CV, so not sure it's related at all, just annoying to me.
Green leaf lettuce has been horrible for a while, it's so touch and go and doesn't last.
Turkey sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast burritos...
Fairlife milk
I've already started buying Thanksgiving meal stuff that I can. Nobody better lay a finger on my cranberry sauce.

My car has been in the shop now for two months with no ETA on when the parts will be available. So there’s that. Just curious, but what kind of car and what type of repair? My 2018 Honda CRV has been sitting at my local dealership since July 15 waiting on parts to repair my rack and pinion system. Thank heavens the dealer has given me loaners to use. Problem is they’ve all been small cars that won’t fit things that would fit in my CRV.

At one of the stores the salesperson said “they are stuck in California on a ship or something”. I don’t know how valid that is. My dad and brother in law had an awful time finding dress shirts for my niece's wedding. We have been looking for a new vehicle (my Jeep Renegade is way too small for my boys now), and we all know how the car market is...

You can also get 3 gallon jugs. We use the pump adaptor on it that he pushes with his hand to get water into his sports sippy cup.

I work closely with the supply chain & logistics divisions in my work. We have had a bit of trouble sourcing interstate trucks from time to time, and having several states shut down their borders and everyone requiring a permit to cross borders has caused delays. It's still better than peak season though.
Then we've had a couple of customers who have had positive COVID cases on site, which then means any of our local truck drivers who delivered to that site have to quarantine until they get a negative test.
The biggest issue is the enormous delays in getting stock from overseas or interstate via sea. Trying to get a slot on a vessel is difficult, trying to get a container is even harder. And I was told yesterday that the cost of containers, particularly along less common shipping routes, has sky rocketed. eg. instead of $600 per container it has gone up to $18,000 per container in some cases. I don't know if those figures are accurate, but I do know that we are now buying stock from our competitor to sell to our customers instead of shipping it in from one of our own factories in China!

Two books I been waiting for to hit the shelves were right on time. Today I stopped at Chick-Fil-A and they were OUT OF CFA sauce!! The horror!! haha... and the gal was telling me they can't get in enough nuggets, they usually run out before the end of the night. My chick-fil-a ran out of nuggets the other day

NBC evening news did a segment this evening on the truck driver shortage.
I've been able to get almost everything I want but have added a few items each week to my shopping list to restock the pantry. I had an overflow pantry last year but I've let it dwindle. The only thing that is perpetually out of stock is gallon jugs of bottled water at Walmart.

Trader Joes's is out of pita chips! A "production delay" means we won't get any before next week.

I've been doing a good amount of grocery pickup lately so I can't comment on what the shelves look like. However, I have had quite a few items look like they are available but really aren't because the shopper can't find them. I did have a hard time finding Gatorade this summer.
When we went to buy a second fridge this summer the one I probably would have picked first wasn't going to be available until October or November, but my second choice was in stock at another location so we went with that one.
Oddly, the one thing we expected to wait up to 18 weeks for was DS's first passport, but we applied for it during the first week of August and it was delivered to us during the last week of August. I'm a little mad I paid extra to expedite it, but maybe that was the reason we got it before November/December...?

Most of the supply chain issues are not due to lack of product but inability to transport. Ports backed-up (previously stated), lack of enough warehouse and truck drivers, etc.
I am ordering Christmas gifts now so I won't get caught at the last minute and not able to get the gifts my girls are asking for. Then again, they are teen/young adult age so their ask is for the bigger technology items.

Things I buy that have had empty shelves lately - Caffeine Free Diet Coke, 9 lives canned cat food, Meijer brand cat litter (and my cats are not happy if their food or brand of litter is changed!) That reminds me---my MIL mentioned that she had to change her cat's food because what she normally buys hasn't been available. I don't recall what she used to buy, only that she's buying Friskies now. So perhaps she was previously buying 9 Lives as well.

Hmm I haven’t seen any delays at all in the Bay Area, but this is concerning.
I bought a new car a couple months ago, inventory was tight but I got the exact car I wanted We bought dress clothes for my son last week at men’s warehouse and also no inventory problems

I buy sugar free creamer at Aldis. None. The next week I went back to check, and there was nothing, no flavor, no sugar free, no fat free, nothing. I was at a Price rite and they had it, so I grabbed three.

There’s still a shortage of shipping containers, which affects loads of imported items, even if they’re ready to ship. www.ft.com/content/90cf1470-8999-4a7e-8390-441305139928Today I called a company in NY to ask when the color I wanted for a tension rod (for curtains or shades) would be back in stock. The owner said with the pandemic he never knows what he’s going to get or when, and even if the overseas manufacturer has it in stock, it may be delayed getting here. (First world problem; I got a different color.)

I work in the energy industry and am on a task force dealing with supply chain problems. Many of our suppliers are facing shortages due to covid outbreaks at production facilities. Today we found out there is a rubber plant in Malaysia that’s been shut down by the government due to a large outbreak, so those components will be in short supply for goodness knows how long. Even items that can be produced are still facing shipping delays dating back to that freighter in the Suez Canal backing things up. It’s a mess and it’s going to get worse.

We ordered a lazy boy chair in May, it was supposed to be here in Jan. A few days ago they called and said it will be March before we get it. Toilet paper and paper towels are limit one at Costco, and all they have is the Kirkland brand. Hopefully we aren’t going to have another toilet paper shortage. 😳

I have noticed that a lot of places are having a tough time keeping an adequate amount of Topo Chico in stock. Also, I couldn't get Gatorade a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if that has resolved itself. I couldn't care less about the Gatarade, but I gotta have my Topo chico! We’ve had issues finding Gatorade for several months now. Furniture. Contacts — my daughters contacts took a couple of months. We still have random shortages at the grocery store which I believe is due to truck driver shortages more than product shortages. Outdoor furniture. Blackstone style grills/griddles.

I've been reading a ton of news articles about the current and impending supply chain issues. I don't want to set off some sort of panic-buying spree around here, but I am curious if you either have experienced delays or are involved in any industries where you have current delays or future delays projected (all of the publishers I follow, eg, are predicting delays on winter books). I've noticed both that my clothing orders have taken longer than expected (a few took two to three months) and that some of the online retailers who normally have fall clothes in early August are just now rolling out fall clothes (and still have their summer clothes up, not on sale, on their websites, with more limited fall offerings than normal). Any other delays you've noticed or know about? Yes! It’s been hard to get specific supplies for our work!

I just a quick check in the app and it looks like most are available at our store but not seeing clearance prices so maybe that’s why we still have them but they get used year round here. We bought ours last November.
