Gatorade--for DS's lunches
Canned cat food. One of our cats is super picky and only eats fancy feast seafood pate varieties. It's getting harder to find it
Cars--we ordered our Hyundai Palisade in April. Still waiting on it.

Why did I open this thread? Now I have anxiety and feel the need to panic buy! 🤪 LOL I was thinking the same thing. Time to reassess my backstock items and levels. I know, right? Before the start of the pandemic I would routinely buy the super mega roll giant packs of toilet paper when it would be on sale, there was a coupon and Target gave a $5-15 gift card for purchasing three packs. I have three bathrooms at home, two at the lake cabin and one (plus an outhouse, LOL) at our hunting place, so 6+ to keep stocked. I had a LOT of toilet paper stockpiled, even more than I realized I had until people started mentioning it was out of stock everywhere last year. I didn’t need to buy any for over a year! I finally had to break down and actually buy some several months ago because we needed it. Guess I’d better pick up an extra mega roll pack per bathroom just in case, LOL.

I've noticed Gatorade also -lots of empty spots on the shelf canned cat food has been an on and off for us - we buy Meow Mix but not pate and sometimes I can buy it, sometimes it's completely out so I've taken to buying extra when I see it

Gatorade is hit or miss. So are certain wet dog food and dog treats.
Lots of empty spots on shelves at the grocery store. We’re not sure if it’s because of lack of product or lack of workers. We are hearing stories about how droves of grocery store workers have quit.
Fresh herbs. I haven’t been able to find basil in months. I finally bought a plant but bugs ate it.
Used car. We have one on hold we are supposed to pickup Monday, but DH is having second thoughts. We are not at a point in our lives that we can get by having only one car. The salvage company came and picked up my wrecked car last night, so I had to take DH to work and I’ll have to go pick him up at 8:30 tonight. I’m so afraid if he goes back to the drawing board on trying to figure out what car he wants we’re going to be in for a very very long wait. He says will manage just fine. Ugh.

There's apparently an Uncrustables shortage. That's the only thing my son wants for his lunches.
If you can't find Topo Chico and live in HEB land give their 1877 water a shot. It's good.

I've found shortages in grocery and big box stores depend on the days I visit and stores located in highly dense population areas. Weekends are horrible for shopping so I try to block time on Tuesday/Wednesday when there is a better chance trucks have arrive and shelves have been stocked. Living close to the border and ports seems to have a slight advantage compared to friends and family living in the upper regions that are more land-locked.
I went ahead and purchased two iPads that I plan on giving as Christmas gifts to my girls. Delivery was delayed by three days but everything is here so that brings comfort that they will get their one big gift they were both asking for.
Our Butcher Box subscription has been late by over 10 days which is starting to get irk-some.
I received an email at work this morning saying supply chain issues are going to continue into at least the first quarter of 2023. Mostly electrical components and some life science items (reagents, lab items - both previously mentioned in earlier posts).

I was at Talbots in Winston Salem yesterday, and I overheard the clerk telling a customer that they have been getting shipments in slow trickles, not the massive amount of boxes for each reset at once.
They apparently haven't gotten all of their September items in, but some of the October stuff is starting to arrive.
I was at two different Sam's Clubs yesterday, and both had limits on certain items. TP and paper towels were 1 pack per customer and bottled water was limited to 3 of each product. I only looked at the baking aisle in one store, but they had 3 packs of the large Libbys pumpkin puree for less than $7 a set.
I've had trouble getting the organic/simply Heinz ketchup at my local Publix, although at one point, their shelves were empty of ALL Heinz ketchup products.
It's been difficult to find regular strawberry Jello (or even most Jello flavors) in the refrigerated section.

Stock up on frozen vegetables - corn, beans and carrots - this year's harvest in Wisconsin has not been good due to this summer's weather and many, many issues at the canning plants with equipment, staffing and trucking. I anticipate higher prices and lower stock this winter.

I am always stocked up on toilet paper, and when the pandemic started, I had five "bales" of Kirkland TP in my basement (because it's my favorite TP, and I live 1.5 hours from the closest Costco, and I just always buy it when I go for my 3-4 trips each year!). I didn't buy toilet paper for over a year once this all started, but I slowly started rebuilding my stock in late spring by getting a bale or two when I could. I've had more trips to Costco than normal this year because of some large purchases we were making for the house/DH's office that were better deals at Costco, so I took advantage of those opportunities LOL. I am now back to my 5-bale pre-pandemic level, and if shortages hit again, I will not have to worry about purchasing any. And no, I did not feel guilty about buying this much. As I said, this is my normal state LOL. I have an irrational fear that Costco will no longer carry this particular paper! Besides, they were very well-stocked when I did purchase, and if there was a limit I did not exceed it. My DD is doing an inventory of our canned-food stock in our basement. She is rotating stock and identifying any product that would expire before the end of the year. Those items will be donated to the food pantry and replaced with newer ones. (I already did this once in June and donated any items expiring before the end of the summer, but we did not purchase any replacements at that time.) We are also cleaning out the freezer. Any meat that is "older" will be cooked and refrozen in Foodsaver bags, labeled with date and amount. This will preserve the taste/quality and make it easy for meal-planning. Any frozen veggies/fruits that have fallen to the bottom of the freezer and overlooked for too long will be tossed if the quality looks bad. We also have some packaged items in boxes that we are going to portion out and repackage in Foodsaver bags--taquitos, fish fillets, and such. I will photocopy nutrition information and cooking directions, and those will go in my recipe binder. I have found that the repackaged items take up much less room in the freezer than the boxes, especially after we open the box and use only a portion of the contents. I have cloth reusable bags that I put these items in, and they are labeled "chicken", "beef", "pork," "pre-packaged," "fruit," "veggies," etc. so it is easy to pull out a bag and see what we have to work with. We went through most of the rice I bought at the beginning of the pandemic, so I bought 25 pounds of basmati rice at Sam's last week. I will be packaging it into 2 cup portions with the Foodsaver. I really liked using it that way, and I will be doing that in the future. We used almost all of our canned beans--I am down to two cans of pinto beans and 3 cans of black beans. I realized that when I was looking for kidney beans this week, so it is time to restock kidney beans and pork and beans. I still have a pound of yeast in the freezer, so we should be good there. I will be buying more baking powder since mine has been open for a year and needs replaced anyway. I will buy an extra because it can be combined with oil and water to make an egg substitute for baking. www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/recipe-page.aspx?recid=872. At a dollar per can at Aldi, I see no reason not to make sure I have some. I will also be checking all of my other baking supplies to see what needs to be refreshed. I usually do this when I do my Christmas baking, but I don't want to wait that long this year. It's not so much that I expect shortages in any of these items, but I am concerned about having to shop if COVID gets as bad as some are thinking it might this winter. If I learned anything from the pandemic, it was "expect the unexpected." Nobody really knows what will be hard to find, so look at those things that you really rely on and make sure you have it.

twinsmomfla99 I did the same last year and am doing the same this year as far as baking goods. It was mid June when I was on my last bag of GF flour so I started to restock in July. Going to purchase a few more items from King Arthur next month. Last week I did a check of my pantry and made note of what items I need to start grabbing 1 extra of each week I shop to stock up on again. I only had 1 can of white beans go bad. Date was good but they sprouted in the can. Never had that happen. I am ahead 2 bales (lol) of Costco Charmin. We used to use Kirkland but during the pandemic it changed and irritated dd's skin. We go through a lot of TP due to GI conditions.

And yes to the Heinz ketchup. We use either Simply or Organic as it has real sugar nor CS or HFCS. But it has been back in stock in our stores.
I always have 1 large bottle in the pantry now as back up.

Interesting thread. I have heard that there are a ton of cargo ships waiting to offload at US ports. DH and I had a convo about whether the issue is lack of manpower, lack of space to store the goods until pickup, or lack of drivers to pick up the containers. Maybe it is all three or something else. My mom's next door neighbor quit his long time job with SSA and is training to be a long haul truck driver because it has become much more lucrative. His kids are all grown or nearly adults so I guess that probably played into the decision. Hell, maybe I need to go to truck driver school.
The only thing I've noticed, and I know this is so far out in the "not necessary items" field, is that when I was in Michael's recently, there was very little Halloween merchandise. I'm a bit of a Halloween crazy person and usually by the end of July, the stores are packed with it. Not much there and a lot of empty shelves with what was there so I guess they are still waiting.

I have not been able to find the Minute Maid fruit and veggie juice boxes, that my kids love, for months! I look at least twice per week when I'm at the grocery and or Target and there are hardly any juice box/pouches at all. Luckily my kids will drink water that I send in a thermos or I'd be panicking.
When school started back in August I tried to buy the Natural Meat & Cheese Snacks, It's like a grown up lunchable, it's a triscuit cracker with white cheddar and roasted turkey. They are NOWHERE, it's the only prepackaged lunch my first grader will eat and it can get exhausting making hot lunch every morning. Since I check the lunchable section weekly I can tell there are NO lunchables of any type.

My sister made a run to Sam’s for a few of those items, but still even there many weren’t available.

Has anyone else had issues with La Croix Pamplemousse? It's off and on, but for several months earlier this year I couldn't find any. I heard it was an aluminum shortage but all other varieties were available.

Surprisingly, distilled water is hard to find (I use it for a nasal rinse.) That, and canning lids. Ah yes, the elusive canning lids! Last year, my mom was desperate to find some. I remembered that I had a stash of pint jars that had been purchased for a craft project my oldest was going to do and changed her mind. I bought 4 dozen at Walmart on Black Friday a few years back for this (something like $4 per dozen, I think?), and they were still in the original packaging. I took off all the lids (she did not need the bands) and gave them to Mom, and with the boxes she still had from the year before, she was able to get through the 2020 canning season. I have been watching for these all summer for her. She found some at a local grocery store and scored 8 boxes. There was a limit of 2 per customer, but every time she was in the store, they still had them so she picked up another 2. They had them in stock for a couple of weeks, and once they were gone, they haven't had them since. DH was cleaning out the basement and found a box of quart jars with lids. These were left over from a few years ago when I made pickles at Christmas and gave them as gifts. I didn't even remember that we had them, and I have the lids in a baggie ready to take to Mom next time I visit. I found cheapo lids on Amazon that everyone says "don't buy these--they don't seal." Since I only need the lids for crafts, I don't care if they seal or not, so that is what I am going to replace them with. I also use the jars for storing things in the pantry, and I use the plastic screw on lids for that.

Surprisingly, distilled water is hard to find (I use it for a nasal rinse.) That, and canning lids. We buy boxes branded for use with baby formula, to use with the nasal rinses and CPAP machines. The price is the same. And since several of you have mentioned it, I just added a box to our grocery cart order. Thanks! I remember it was hard to find for a time last year as well. For those missing Gatorade have you tried looking for the powder? Lots of companies make electrolyte powder drinks too, DH uses them for training so let me know if you need help finding any!

I think maybe the companies just didn’t inundate the market as much as they used to? Here are the collections from a source that usually has the biggest selection I can find. Not that I’m trying to enable you But it really does seem like a lot less than usual, especially since not all those listed are even full collections and it seems a lot of brands aren’t represented.

There is local baked bean company. They can't start the production line until they hire 2 more people. However, according to the facebook comments, they can't find anyone because they pays minimum wage and treat employees like trash. Grandma Brown's?? I work at Wegmans. The customers are constantly asking for them. Do you know if there is something going on with Wegman's brand coffee? We buy the large can, half caff and it's been out for weeks. For some reason the small cans are in. I know I read something about coffee being affected, I can't remember, I want to say had something to do with issues in South America - not sure if it is pandemic related or more climate. I don't actually go to store, so not sure, but haven't heard anything from my shopper. I did hear from friends about home improvement projects being stalled because of waiting for things like vanities and other furniture-type parts.

Specifically, crystal cat litter for automatic litter box. Sold out/out of stock most places unless you want to pay scalpers prices. I jest, but barely. The bag I'd normally get at Walmart for under $5 is is 2 for $25 online/Amazon right now. Yikes. When we first got the kittens I ordered a lot to get the free shipping knowing it wouldn't go to waste so I'm good for a couple months. Hope it restocks by then.

For the past couple of months, we have been experiencing a shortage of all types of half and half of all things . All brands in two different chains and locations. It is strange because they seem to have plenty of milk.

I also work pretty closely with supply chain and logistics in my job and we're definitely seeing issues.
The lead time on the integrated circuits used in some of our products are up to 170 days, our production facilities are affected by covid cases with either reduced production capacity or complete shutdown depending on the severity of the situation and the local government guidelines. There were covid cases not too long ago at Yantian port in China which stopped containers from shipping, there is a global container shortage, we're seeing more than usual blank sailings of vessels, we're having to ship some of our stock with alternative carriers paying significantly higher shipping rates, and seeing an increased number of containers being transshipped (sent via another port where it changes vessels instead of being sent direct) which has blown out our typical transit time from around 16 days to up to 7 weeks. We're also facing port congestion, particularly in NZ where vessels are being diverted to other nearby ports, putting pressure on rail and trucks to get the containers back to our DC in Auckland. It's also really hard to get containers out of Australia, pre-covid I could get stock to NZ in around 3-4 weeks from requesting a vessel booking to stock in the NZ DC, now we're waiting a minimum of 6 weeks, and often closer to 8 or 10 weeks just for a vessel booking.

I'm having a hell of a time finding cake boards. I put all my cakes on 1/2" thick cake drums. And the company that makes them is having issues....I can't find 12" rounds anywhere. I may have to resort to gluing thin ones together to make a thicker base.
Combine that with 2 years of weddings all trying to happen at once? Boards are needed!

My BIL works for a company that manufactures things that they sometimes need to send overseas. And right now they have something that needs to be put on a ship. The shipping company told them that they cannot tell them when a ship will actually go out. It could be a week or a month or more. However, they did tell them that they have a container available right now, and if the company wants to be sure they'll get on the next available ship, they need to send the items to the shipping company so they can be loaded into a container to await the next ship. And, oh, by the way, that's $500 per day in storage fees while you wait for that ship to be available. Yikes.
