Welcome to October! We are on the downward slope as far as this year goes. I still have my Whatchamacallit blanket going and I don't see me finishing anytime soon. And my skull blanket has been more steadily worked on. I'm excited to start my shawl with my vacation yarn. My friend had gifted me a swift. But this past week I finally ordered a yarn winder to go with it and I am waiting for that to arrive. And I'm really starting to get excited about my Advent project. JoP and I are going to be working on it together and our goal is to have it done by Christmas 2022. I post a picture of the woodland Santa below so you can see how cute he is. This is the first year where I have absolutely no Christmas gifts on my hook and it feels really good to me. No deadlines. No pressure. Is anyone else working on crafty Christmas gifts? As per usual, I would love to see what you're working on, so please share.

Hi jeremysgirl. Cute Santa I am on the last section of Letitia's holiday blanket, then it's the border. I had a mad idea a few nights ago that I should add a section of golden(the mustard colour) stars to top it off. She missed a trick not adding stars! Realistically I'm probably not going to do it as I have so many projects in the wings. Tinna's Amma project starts today, so I'm looking forward to seeing the creations people come up with. It's so interesting that the same basic pattern can lead to so many varied results Deramores the UK wool company, sent me this link, another type of Christmas blanket. I thought I'd share if anyone is looking for a Christmas project. www.deramores.com/products/the-night-before-christmas-blanket-crochet-along-pattern-kit-intermediate?variant=39369420341305

Thank you for starting our monthly craft threads. I am still knitting away on a prayers shawl - this shawl is much bigger than I thought it was going to be and I feel like I am never going to finish it. When I knit a prayer shawl, I try to send positive vibes to it while I knit but I am afraid (since this is taking so long and I am getting tired of it) that I am sending some negative vibes...I keep thinking "When is this #$@(* thing every going to finally be done?" So, when I do finally finish it...I'm going to have to have extra prayers over the shawl to get rid of any negative energy it picked up Seriously though, I am starting to see the finish line - I have 40 stitches on my needles and I have to get it down to 6 before I cast off (decrease is ever 4th row, so that means about 136 more rows to go before I can cast off (I think). Call the Midwife is starting this weekend and a group on Ravelry is doing a CAL of the Call the Midwife blanket and I want to join in. I'm going to be crocheting it. I don't know anyone to crochet a baby blanket for so I am going to revise the pattern a bit and make it a prayer shawl as well. I crochet faster than I knit so I think this will be a much faster project that the never ending knit shawl I have been working on for months. Hopefully (fingers crossed), I will finish the knit shawl within the next week and post photos of it.
I thought I'd share if anyone is looking for a Christmas project. That is so pretty!

disneypal people who I gift to always say there's a lot of love that goes into your projects. Well I always think there's a lot of depression going into mine. Lol! But really when you think about it, I enjoy them. It is self care for me. And therefore self love. Which is how I reason it out that actually my projects are made with love. Any chance of a mental trick for that prayer shawl? I like that blanket. But it is too small for an adult. A shawl would be awesome.

I was leaving a decision about the border until I had to do it. I wanted to see the body of the blanket in person first. I like the idea of the stars better than the bells, it just a matter of whether I can adapt the pattern well enough. I could put, maybe, three bells either side of each corner and leave the centres blank. Decisions, decisions.

The bell border was pretty, just too busy for my eyes. I just did a plain border. It was such a busy blanket to begin with.

Happy October everyone! Thank you for cranking us up, jeremysgirl That Santa is just beautiful. JoP linked me to some other pictures of all the little features and they are adorable. I think working together on what will be a big project is a good idea and I look forward to seeing how you both get on. I love that Christmas blanket but thankfully I have no use for it so don’t have the urge to make it. I hope someone here does! I have no plans to make anything for Christmas but my DIL does fancy a pocket shawl so I might consider it. I am absolutely going to frog the Wilona shawl and put it back on the to do list for the future. I wasn’t enjoying it because I wasn’t in love with the colours. The yarn will hopefully look better in the item it was intended for. I’ll go and get some pics of what I’m working on.

I've made two of them for gifts last year. IMO, though, it calls for a chunky yarn. I tried with a worsted and it just didn't come together for me. A chunky yarn worked up great and fast.

Thank you jeremysgirl. I’ll check it out. My mash up version of Meow and Woof. I have about a dozen ends to weave in them it’s done. I am really pleased with it; I like the look of it and I like the feel of it. This is my yarn for the autumnal blanket. I am itching to get started on it!

Ooh the meow/woof blanket is awesome! That's definitely on my to do list. I just love it. I think when I do it, I'm going to do two kitties, one black and one gray. And then a white dog. Because those would match my animals.
And the colors you've pick out for the autumn blanket are awesome! Perfect for a fall theme.

I've favourited the Perfect Pockets in my Ravelry account but in looking for it I found this page yourcrochet.com/pockets-shawl-free-crochet-patterns/ Lots of lovely pocket shawls; I've saved about 10 of them and will definitely be making some. Apropos your dress challenge, jeremysgirl, I tend to wear dark pants, a thin top and a fleecy gilet/waistcoat/vest every day. Some of those shawls will easily take the place of my waistcoats and help me to use up my yarn mountain.

Just finished a Luna fox and ready to take pics of a 1.48th miniature French townhouse/shop that was a real pain to do. Waiting in the wings do do next is a Christmas free style embroidery in a hoop and I have just ordered some Peter Rabbit fabric and a panel to make Christmas wall hanging and some project bags. Need to keep busy as I am still badly missing my cat who died 2 months ago.

Happy October! After a too long hiatus, my sewing mojo has finally returned! Currently I'm working to make a dent in my UFO/WIPs. The hexagon quilt (official name is Spider Hexagon) was put away in 2015 after the IQF class. This week it's all come rushing back to me why it was put away. It has been a difficult quilt for me. Finally got all the rows put together last night...for the second time. The first time I managed to not read the diagram/instructions correctly and all the rows were misaligned. Now they are correct and today I'll cut and sew the filler triangles for the ends to square it off. There is supposed to be a double borders of small triangles added next, but I'm just going to do solid border strips. I'm over this quilt top! Next up will be the baby quilt that has needed quilting for 6 months. Backing and batting are cut so I just need to baste it and quilt it. Will be simple straight line quilting as it is a very busy design. I need to make another baby quilt after that and have some fabrics to use, just need to figure out the pattern. That Night Before Christmas blanket is amazing! I seem to recall JoP making a very similar blanket a couple of years ago.

disneypal, Your intentions for the shawl are positive and that is why it has positive energy even when you say a bad word while working on it. The overall energy is that it will give comfort to the wearer. Just remember that. Thank you for the thread jeremysgirl, I love looking at everyone's projects.

I bought some fabric at Aldi yesterday with the intention of cutting out the pattern pieces to make some project bags/zipper pouches but we had a huge Amazon delivery of kitten items so we've spent the day unboxing and sorting stuff out, in typical cat fashion Sushi has ignored the toys that arrived and played in one of the boxes I'm working on my Advent blanket and I'm in a good rhythm with the pattern now, it probably won't be done for Christmas.

Happy October crafting everyone!
My mom has been on a trip so we haven't had the chance to work on our "Santa Fe Five" baskets. We plan to weave together on Sunday so I should have progress to report next week.

I made a Bucilla tree skirt years and years ago, the sequins nearly did me in. I love it and I love that I made it but I wouldn't rush to make another one.
