jeremysgirl if someone said I requested the description of that blanket to be made for myself I would tell you they were lying. UNTIL I've seen it. Damn, that's vibrant. Stunning! Love!

Progress Report: I got about 4 more rows done after taking this photo - but then discovered a mistake and will need to rip 3 of them back out - so this is about where I am at! This is the pattern: Our "medium terra cotta" dyed reed turned out a bit more pink than the pattern calls for and our "dessert sand" is a little more grey, but all in all I am liking the colors and the design!

jeremysgirl I ADORE that blanket! Honestly, that would be motivation for me to learn how to do yarn crafts. How big will it finish? Is it difficult for someone who has zero idea how to do anything with hooks/needles? jennifercw I love your baskets! They're very cool! The colors on the one you're doing are great! Everyone else- I LOVE seeing your projects! I'm on fall break so we're crafting in this house. Yesterday we (my 10 year old and I) made a few kaleidocycles. They're for next week's art class. Need to have a demo for them and know how to do it myself! I'm totally flying by the seat of my pants with art class. LOL. They're really fun to do! hattifant.com/hattifants-kaleidocycle/I also spent time reading Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King. I started it back at the end of summer and just haven't been reading (the book before- The City by Koontz, took me 3 years to finish and it was a good book!) so my goal is to finish it this week. I was on p.133 yesterday and read to p.301. There are just over 700 pages. My 10 year old designed a "lazy castle" in Tinkercad and we're printing that on the borrowed from school Makerbot today. It's a 14 hour print! She was setting it up at 6 this morning. This looks fun as well! I'm all about the paper crafts. www.madamecriativa.com.br/blog/bolas-de-papel-trancado-para-decorar-festas-ou-arvore-de-natal-decoracao-natalina-economica

This one is more difficult than the Christmas blanket I did. I would not recommend this one for a beginner.

Good morning. I started a new shawl last night. With my vacation yarn. My yarn winder finally came in last night's mail so I was able to ball my new yarns. I took that pattern that lainey posted and altered it a bit so the shawl would be wider. The original pattern was a one skein little shawl. And I wanted something bigger. No surprise eh? I am always a fan of big shawls. Here's how it's beginning.

I am attempting to get a head start on next year's Arts and Crafts fair items. (my county level Extension /volunteer group puts one on every year. Booth rentals and kitchen sales are main fundraising sources for the year. Ext. Members can put things in the "country store" for a 10% fee of slaes rather than getting a booth). It is Christmas ornaments I am using scrap water color pad paper for.
Also trying to scrapbook some and get a start on county fair items.

Here's how it's beginning. I'm glad you said that was going to be a shawl, because it looks like the beginnings of a bikini to me! As for those colors, I love them!

Thank you everyone for sharing your beautiful creations. I'm being rubbish. Again. My sunburst granny square quilt is falling by the wayside after 'only' 125 squares. I need at least 3 times that. Now that the light is fading early and I'm working longer hours again, and trying to catch up with the stuff that I haven't been able to do since March, my crochet is suffering. I can't even find a place big enough to lay out the squares I've done so far to photograph to encourage me. I shouldn't have taken on such a big project, should I?

Pop them on the bed, you can have a play with the placement of the ones you have done. 125 squares is a lot! Given the demands on your health this year I think you are doing brilliantly. Even if your time for crocheting is squeezed atm, maybe schedule a couple of slots that makes you feel you are going forward. Maybe a cuppa and your hook and yarn while you watch Bake off or strictly? The thing about a big project is you start off all gung ho, then there comes a point where it is a major stress and a struggle, once you work through that and you can see a finishing line, you pick up speed again. And when it's all done you can sit back with a big smile and say, I did that! Hugs, you are being too hard on yourself. You are doing great

Is there any way you can just set that aside and work on something else for a bit? I usually have 3 projects going at once because it seems I'm in the mood for one or another and my brain likes to change things up a bit. It of course takes me longer to finish but this way I don't ever get bored with a project.

I did lay them out on the bed and have a play but the pattern of the duvet cover underneath showed through and then I forgot to take photos. I'll do it again when I have plain bedding on the bed. Even the under-sheet is patterned at the moment. lol jeremysgirl I was desperate to start and am still enjoying doing it, it's just that there are other more important demands now. Another thing that has just occurred to me is that I'm also going to bed earlier because I'm getting more tired, so I have less evening. I suppose that's the cumulative effect of the chemo, and it will get easier too. I just want to have something to show you all!

Aww... RedSquirrelUK be gentle with yourself. Chemo takes a lot out of a person. If you're tired, you're tired. And we will all still be here cheering for you when you finish. It's going to be lovely.

It's going to be lovely. Yes! This! When my mom was having chemo, some days her biggest accomplishment was getting out of bed to the kitchen to sit at the table for something to eat that she didn’t even feel up to eating. Be gentle with yourself!

Yes, I'm doing my best. I've done my hours this week and I'm only working 2 hours this morning thankfully. Maybe I'll do some crochet later. Thank you, everyone.

I am almost done making a blanket for my nephew's 2nd son, he's almost 6 weeks old now. I'm going to NH at the end of the month, so I can take it to him then. I've only made 3 blankets so far, and they've all been gifts. The 1st for my DD then one for each of my nephew's sons. I might make something for me someday. My next project is going to be to attempt circles/squares to make a blanket that will have some black squares and some with Jack Skellington faces. I keep picking projects that are hard to make. Thank goodness for pictures on patterns and youtube.

@patter is that an apron? I love it! If so, I made one similar from muslin for "valley days" that I chaperoned for my DD a few year back. We had to dress as pioneers and I bought a dress on amazon (wasn't about to try and make one) and made the apron to go with it. I love the design and it's got SUPER deep pockets on the sides!
