I feel like we are living in completely different worlds sometimes. No one wears masks here. No mask mandates. No one asks about your vax status. No showing your papers anywhere. I saw Hamilton last week with 4,000 of my closest friends. No showing anything to get in. I only even think about Covid when I read threads on here. And you know what? It’s fine. I haven’t gotten it. I don’t know anyone who’s had a serious case of it or had lasting effects from it or has died. It’s lovely to not be afraid all the time 🤷🏻♀️ It’s fine until it’s not, and your incredibly dismissive attitude was truly unnecessary and offensive to people like me who have lost people and know people who are still suffering from long COVID. Basically, fuck off.

My region has a big spike in Covid cases-most of the folks in ICUs are unvaccinated. Covid hospitalization is up 57% in the last 3 weeks. I am wearing my mask-again.

I just fail to see that requiring masks is batshit crazy. Kindergarten kids are handling masking better than many adults. I never said masks were batshit crazy. I even said I wear them when I have to and don’t throw a fit about it, so I’m not sure what you’re responding to. I do think that if you react to an unmasked person with the amount of anxiety the OP seems to have, then you need mental health help. Boy, if you keep sticking your foot in your mouth, it’s gonna get stuck. Covid is on the rise again in a lot of places. And many people on this board have lost someone to Covid. Just stop.

I mean, y’all can keep telling me to fuck off and pretend it’s just me as opposed to like at least half the country if it makes you feel better. Right. And we know what "half" of the Country. No need to remind us, we all get it. But telling people they need mental health help due to wanting people masked and vaxxed is real rich coming from someone who 16 months ago was saying life wasn't worth living if you couldn't go to amusement parks, concerts, Broadway shows and sporting events. Seriously, be better.

Honestly, at this point, I feel like anyone who is blowing this off and moving on can just fuck off. I’m not living in fear, I have been vaccinated, but I also know this is not over. It’s only been a month since my sweet brother in law died from Covid. It seems so selfish to me when someone says they have moved on from Covid. It’s still here, people are still dying. You clearly don’t care, and the things you say show that.

In fact I know someone who NEVER wore one when out. Not one business asked her to put one on. Not sure why you all engage myshelly...her opinion has never ever changed about COVID and masks and travel. It's wasted energy trying to convince her. Just ignore her.

There are no mask mandates here but I wear one everywhere I go. I get strange looks. I don’t care. I don’t understand how it’s ok to attend a college football game sold out at 50,000 outdoors unmasked but move it indoors and omg mask. Yes I attended games that were sold out.
My son has it and we’re pretty sure he was given it through unvaxed people (my other child who is an adult). It sucks. He feels like garbage. I’m not living in fear but I’m not acting stupid either. Masks and hand washing and vaccines have saved our lives. And kept us out of the hospital. So I’ll continue to do those things.

It’s lovely to not be afraid all the time 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know what part of Texas you live in, but I’m guessing it’s a Trump county. I posted this earlier but it’s worth repeating. Although no one you know personally has died, many people in Texas are dying of Covid. Almost 75,000. Death rates in pro Trump counties are almost 3 times higher. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/texas-covid-cases.htmlwww.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/12/05/1059828993/data-vaccine-misinformation-trump-counties-covid-death-rateNo one is suggesting that you live in fear, just that you take it seriously and out of respect for others, wear a mask because it’s the right thing to do. Even if they’re not required where you live, you can choose to wear one out of respect and consideration for people in your community. I’m fortunate that I don’t know anyone personally who has died from covid or been hospitalized, but I still take it seriously. Not because I’m living in fear. I’m not worried about my immediate family, but I care about vulnerable people that we see and interact with everyday. My immediate family is fully vaccinated, 3 of us had the boosters and the other 2 will get theirs soon. Middle ds in college gets tested twice a week on a campus that’s 99% vaccinated. Youngest ds gets tested once a week at his high school and wears a mask. Dh works on health care and wears a mask everywhere to protect his vulnerable patients. I work at a school where cases are on the rise, we have 15 cases right now. I wear a mask indoors because the kids I work with only recently became eligible for the vaccines. I’m sure others have said this, but you seem to be missing the point. Masks are not about you, they’re about protecting others. And if you don’t care about your friends or neighbors, maybe start taking it seriously because hospitals around the country are overwhelmed. Maybe someone you care about won’t get the care they need or care will be delayed because the hospital is overwhelmed with covid. www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/some-hospitals-in-midwest-overwhelmed-as-virus-surge-worsens-in-region

Oh look. More right wing talking points nonsense. Wall Street Journal had an editorial then Breitbart, Tucker Carlson, McCarthy all followed suit. And not surprisingly pixiechick is now jumping on the bandwagon. Typical Republican strategies too. Whataboutisms, false premises, false comparisons, false equivalencies and taking quotes out of context. Maybe instead the Republicans should focus on getting their base vaccinated. The vast majority of the unvaccinated and covid deaths are now Republicans. Here's more context to Biden's comments. Biden said this after Trump again downplayed the virus, said we're turning the corner and "we're learning to live with it" www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/10/22/takeaways-final-presidential-debate/“Two-hundred twenty thousand Americans dead,” Biden began. “If you hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this: Anyone who is responsible, for not taking control — in fact, saying I take no responsibility initially — anyone that is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America.” Biden also referenced Trump’s comments to The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward, in which Trump offered a much more dire account than he was publicly giving at that point. “But he didn’t want to tell us,” Biden said. “He didn’t want to tell us because he didn’t want us to panic. He didn’t want us — Americans don’t panic. He panicked.”www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/11/30/biden-trump-compare-covid-deaths/The comparison between 2020 and 2021 is also inapt in that Trump was still president in early 2021, and the effects of choices made before Biden took over (such as Trump not really encouraging people to get vaccinated) lingered into Biden’s early presidency. The biggest wave of the coronavirus in this country, in fact, peaked around the exact time Biden was inaugurated on Jan. 20. Inheriting a trendline that showed 3,000 deaths per day, as Biden did, is a recipe for inflating your numbers. Both presidents presided over about 10 months of the pandemic. The World Health Organization declared that label on March 11, meaning Trump was president for a little more than 10 months of the formally declared pandemic. Biden has now passed a little more than 10 months in office as well. Thus far, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Biden has presided over about 353,000 deaths in a little over 10 months, compared to about 425,000 for Trump in his final 10-plus months. So there have still been fewer deaths under Biden than under Trump, in a similar time period. The best comparison to my mind, though, is not the raw numbers — which depend upon how bad things are, when waves occur, emerging variants, etc. — but how we compare to the rest of the world. Just as the best comparisons for Trump’s numbers worldwide were per capita and relative, so, too, are Biden’s. What we can say: Under Biden, we have accounted for a significantly smaller share of worldwide deaths than under Trump. The 425,000 deaths we saw in Trump’s 10-plus months accounted for nearly 20 percent of all worldwide deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Since Biden took over, the world as a whole has seen more deaths in his 10 months (3.07 million) than the preceding 10 months (2.14 million), but the United States has seen fewer. In Biden’s 10-plus months, the United States has accounted for less than 12 percent of worldwide deaths, which is down from 19.9 percent under Trump. That’s a decline of more than 40 percent in our proportion of the worldwide death rate.On the one hand, Biden as president is responsible for persuading Americans to get vaccinated; on the other hand, those people who are very disproportionately accounting for coronavirus deaths right now — the unvaccinated — are in large number those who won’t listen to him.

Biden ran on ending the virus. With that in mind he often puts public perception before following the science. His words and his experts words, don't always match up. What do you think that does to the trust of anything he says? How do you think that affects the decision process of those who aren't vaccinated yet? FDA's vaccine experts voted against the boosters. He knows better than the experts. At least 4 FDA vaccine experts resigned and more announced they were considering it. The CDC director, following the science, made an announcement about not needing vaccinations to open the schools. Biden dismissed that by saying she wasn't speaking officially. Not speaking officially - while sitting in front of a CDC panel. He lies about the vaccine and the fact checkers have to call him out. Biden is walking around maskless in places requiring masks. He's also coughing into his hand from his maskless face and then going to shake hands with strangers with that exact same hand. He takes off his mask to hang with the Carters indoors, putting them at risk and then puts it back on when he goes outside where it's not necessary to mask up. That defies logic. Not to mention science and safety. Biden said that he would not do mandates. He set a goal of 70% vaccinated in order to reach herd immunity to be safe. We surpassed that a while ago. So he changed the FACT that we DID hit percentage needed, by adding in children to the vax rates. That changed the "percentage reached" in order to "justify" mandate under threat of your job. Or threat of participating in society. He set a vaccine mandate because being vaccinated is so important to prevent deaths. So important to prevent deaths, that you aren't required to do so for 2 months. Allowing how many people to die in 2 months? Doesn't sound like a decision based on safety or science. It does sound like Biden policies contributing to the number of deaths. Requiring businesses with 100 people to have a vaccine mandate. It's so important to be vaccinated in order to prevent death that it must be mandated. That leaves how many people to die because they are in a business with less than 100 people? What do you think all that does to the trust of anything he says? How do you think that affects the decision process of those who aren't vaccinated yet? Sounds like Biden policies contributing to the number of deaths.

The virus and science changes and evolves. So do recommendations based on current situations and information available. By any measure, Biden is doing significantly better than Trump who downplayed and ignored the virus. Is the pandemic over? No, but the rest of the world is still dealing with it, too. And we would be closer to ending this if Republicans would simply get vaccinated. The vaccine resistance on the part of Republicans was not something anyone could have predicted, not to the extent that they're digging in their heels and refusing. The vaccine was developed under the Trump administration. As much as he loves to brag about himself, Trump's not bragging about the vaccine or encouraging people to get it. He got his vaccine in secret. Republicans are a major part of the problem right now, they need to take responsibility and stop pointing fingers at Biden.

Ontario’s mask mandate does include grocery stores. I find it odd that yours doesn’t enforce it. I was also going to come on here and say this. Ontario definitely DOES have a mask mandate in grocery stores and has for over 18 months . In every inside establishment in Ontario there is a mask mandate inside a store. For restaurants you must be double vaccinated and masked to walk you your table . Once seated you can take off your mask. If getting up to go to the restroom you must put on your mask. I can’t understand why people don’t get it if You live in our province . OP, the owners of your store are definitely not following the Public Health guidelines . It’s up to your manager to address these issues of non compliant customers. Like I said ....this is nothing new for Ontario. I don’t make the rules but I do follow follow them . Wearing a mask is no big deal! Pick your battles

I assume something really bad happened before I showed up. Last week we witnessed a co worker get yelled out at by an umasked women when she was asked to put on a mask. Her spit was traveling and it was disgusting. A manager and the owner had to come over to get the crazy women to calm down.

No, it’s not just the death toll that matters. And your numbers are wrong. Trump is responsible for 400,000 plus deaths and Biden about 380,000. Your numbers don’t add up to match the current death toll either. By your twisted logic with the accurate numbers, Biden wins because so far the death toll on his watch is lower. apnews.com/article/donald-trump-pandemics-public-health-coronavirus-pandemic-f6e976f34a6971c889ca8a4c5e1c0068www.politico.com/news/2021/01/19/us-coronavirus-death-toll-460436www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2021-01-19/us-coronavirus-death-toll-tops-400-000-day-before-bidens-inaugurationThe context of Biden’s statement also matters. Trump and other republican “leaders” set the stage for the pandemic response. I think perhaps Biden was a little too optimistic that he could change that, but he was wrong. Biden is doing the best with what he inherited in regards to attitudes about the virus, vaccines, masks, and other measures to reduce the spread of the virus.

And even knowing what is now common knowledge about Covid, the Republicans in leadership positions are STILL TODAY doing everything they can to push back against any and all measures that could help to stem the tide and slow the spread. IMO, that is all completely and totally on Trump because he’s the one who set that tone to start with and then refused to change course even after more information came to light.

Alright then. I'll remove my numbers, put your numbers, and just leave the quote from Biden since it still stands: In October last year Biden said: “ 220,000 Americans dead. You hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this. Anyone who … is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America.” 380,000 deaths under Biden's presidency. Think he'll hold himself to the same standards he set for someone else? The rest of the Biden words don't matter because Trump never said "he takes no responsibility for covid" as Biden tried to insinuate. Biden was called out buy the fact checkers for a number of untruths he told about Trump. And since this also still holds true. Yes, Trump contributed in a big way, but don't discount the fact that Biden contributed to these numbers in a big way too.

Yes to all of this. My husband showed me a graphic today that showed that covid numbers pretty much lined up with party lines, showing high numbers in Trump area and low numbers in the Democratic areas. Let's not forget that most people dying at this point are UNVACCINATED. Anyone can spew what ever nonsense they want about how Biden is failing to deal with the covid crisis but no one in their right mind could possibly blame Biden for unvaccinated Americans dying. He and the Democrats have done everything they possibly can to get people vaccinated. It is the Republican party who are fighting getting vaccinated, fighting vaccine mandates and spreading false information about the safety of the vaccine.

Biden ran on ending the virus. At the end of the day here’s what matters 1. Vaccine mandates work 2. Chances are good that Biden’s mandate will hold up in court

Since you normally go around the board pointing out everything you think is wrong like it's your job.
