I teach junior high ... I am so amazed that I haven't had Covid yet ... we wear masks but I'm exposed to so many people every day I am double vaxxed but no booster yet ... soon ...

I work in a restaurant in an area where no one masks. I’m definitely going to get it, but I’m vaxxed and boosted.

I had it in Feb. 2021 (and am not ruling out the possibility that I had it in Jan 2020), but despite being vaccinated I would not be surprised in the least to get it again.

Definitely. Sooner than later.
We’ve contained it fairly well at the school where I work. With that said, the last week of school, we had to quarantine an entire bus on the last day. We also had a teacher case in my building. Our first since this all started.
It’s rampant here. My college-age dd got it. She was just six months out from her second shot, and was planning on getting a booster once she got home for break. She came home on day 11 and stayed in her room the rest of the day and next before she emerged.
We’ve all stuck around the house this week, with older dd and fiancé with us for about 24 hours on Christmas Day. Dh has had some cold symptoms (stuffy nose) for a few days.
We took home tests this morning and are both negative. As I speak we’re driving to see my parents and sister. I am nervous because I don’t think it’s necessarily wise, but at the same time we’re doing our best.
I’m work in an elementary school. I’m very worried about staffing when we return. We’re not prepared to go remote, and neither are our students. We’re not set up for it like we were last year.

I have allergies, so maybe one of the days I had nose issues was Covid. When I tested positive in Aug, the only symptom I ever had was some nasal congestion. Had DH not ended up in ICU with Covid, I probably would not have tested because it felt like my normal allergy issues. I suspect many more have had it and don't realize it due to very mild to no symptoms.

I imagine a whole lot of people have had it without realizing it. Then there is the whole subset who have/had it and won’t get tested because if they don’t get tested they don’t have it.

I work in a school. I had Covid after the first three weeks of school. That is with opening my window and wearing a mask and being vaccinated. Students do not have to mask and they just voted to make quarantine optional for students. I would guess that 90-95% of students do not wear a mask. I fully expect to get Covid again after Christmas break.
I wear a mask, I am fully vaccinated and boosted. I don't think it matters when I'm exposed to as many students as I will be in January when they don't wear masks or quarantine and there's a more contagious variant. So my sick days will be gone if I get it again since I had to use some in September when I had it before.
My children go to another school district where masking and quarantining is also optional. They have not had Covid yet, but I am expecting them and dh to also get it. They have students in the building that have parents who won't test their children for Covid so I'm sure they've been exposed many times. Luckily they're all vaccinated now.

Yes.
I think I had it in Feb/March 2020, before there was testing available too. I was pretty sick.
My ds was sick Feb/March 2020 with an unknown (but not flu or Strep - he was tested for those) viral infection that turned into pneumonia. Again, before they were testing for covid widely.
My dd just had covid after doing all the "right" things. Was still pretty sick, and her lungs haven't been the same since (hasn't been to long yet, tho).
Though the rest of us tested negative during that time, I'm almost certain we will eventually get it.

I don’t feel like I’m going to get it. Maybe I’m too optimistic but we have to be vaxxed to dine out, attend events etc. and to fly anywhere so I feel like my exposure can be controlled to an extent. Right now anyway.

I'm testing tomorrow because I had "allergy" symptoms on Thursday/friday last week that turned into fever of 102 and chills and major fatigue for 3 days. Tomorrow is the soonest I could get a test in my area.

I think anyone that has to go to work, and not work from home, will eventually contract a case.
We are retired and do very little outside our home, so we may dodge the bullet. ...However, last week I went to the church to help the secretary stuff bulletins and he exposed me!! I wore a mask the entire time, though the secretary and minister did not! I am getting my test tomorrow morning. I *THINK* I will test negative as I have no symptoms whatsoever and the 3 staff members at church who were exposed have all tested negative.
We are both fully vaccinated and boosted.

No masks and quarantine is OPTIONAL??? May the Gods be with you! That's pretty much how I feel. I have school wide testing to do in January and hope to make it through to help with that before getting Covid. None of the public schools in my county are requiring masks. There is only one private school that is. Also, many of the public schools in the two counties around me aren't requiring quarantines if exposed in school. The board checked with the districts around us and only 25% were enforcing a quarantine. The email I get from my kids school says to check with your doctor and decide what to do. There is no follow up after that. They keep saying that it didn't spread last year (when they were all masked and social distancing) so we are keeping kids out of school needlessly. Comparing apples and oranges in my opinion, but of course they didn't ask me.

It’s a toss-up. I’m not working right now and my husband works from home, Our oldest works for county government and is a full-time student, Work is stringent with precautions and his classes are going online for the first two weeks. Our youngest is in school out of state, so he won’t be in/out of the house again until spring. I do the shopping and go to the gym, but I am masked with a KN95 when I go. We haven’t socialized or eaten in restaurants since summer.
My husband and I are vaccinated and boosted. Our kids both got boosted yesterday.
I’m hoping we dodge the covid bullet, but we’ll see. 🤞🏻

I'm vaxxed and boosted and kind of resigning myself to the fact that I'm gonna get got, even though my circle is small and everyone I spend time with unmasked is vaccinated, boosted, I stopped going to gym in person, stopped eating in restaurants. I'm a teacher and this shit is rampant, so I'm guessing mid-January. I already made homemade chicken soup and put it in the freezer for when I go down. Sad. Didn't have to be like this, an d I hope my fat ass doesn't die or get long COVID.
I don’t know if you meant this figuratively or not, but I’ve never imagined you being a fat ass. In my mind your an athletic, lean woman.

I am pretty sure I had it at the very beginning when it was still new and there was no testing. In February 2020, I went to Vegas with some family, and ended up sick my last day. At the time, I first thought it was allergies from all the smoke that is every where. But I ended up being sick off and on for about 3 weeks, and was just starting to finally feel somewhat back to normal in late March when everything shut down. I lost my sense of taste when I was sick, but at the time, I had no idea that was a symptom of Covid. I have been vaccinated and will get my booster at the end of the first week of January. I wear a mask, and while I do think I will at some point get Covid, I hope that the precautions I take will make it a mild case. I do think at some point, everyone is going to get it. There are too many people who refuse to get vaccinated, and it's just going to keep mutating. I will get boosters as long as they are necessary. I’m pretty sure I had it as well in mid Feb. we had spent 9 days in Jamaica and had layovers in Chicago and Miami. 4 days after getting home, I ran a high fever, had a cough, and was sicker than I have ever been. I ended up pneumonia for two weeks that I couldn’t get rid of. I was just short of being admitted to the hospital when I finally turned the corner. That was the first week of March. Interesting enough, I also started having blood clots that I could feel in my veins in my arms at the same time. DH got sick but it was much more mild. I figure I will get it again but hopefully it won’t be bad.

Yes. My friend who is a microbiologist has said since the beginning of all of this that it isn't a matter of if you get it, it is when you get it.

I don’t think it’s inevitable. I am on chemo right now, and will be indefinitely, so we are avoiding all crowds, groups, anywhere there will be other people. I’m really sad about it, but what else can I do? I

I live in Chicago, where there’s a mask mandate.
I’m boosted, and yet I currently have COVID, along with my husband and little Pancakes. We escaped several daycare outbreaks, only to succumb to my moronic BIL who brought it home from workout classes while he was staying with us before Christmas.
Even when you’re careful, there’s others around you that aren’t.

Is this the same friend working at Walter Reed who, early on, you said swore up and down that COVID wasn’t a pandemic? And who you kept quoting to dismiss those of us who were concerned?

Yes, I believe I will get it. I am a housewife, so my personal bubble is very small, but DH works with many very conservative science deniers. Our state still mandates masks indoors, so DH does have some level of protection, but I still think that he will be exposed by a coworker, and I will likely get it from him. We are both vaccinated and boosted, so I'm hopeful that we will have mild illness.

yes. i double vaxxed... we just recently have booster available to us so it's in demand and tough to get spots appts.
the guy i am seeing, his 21 year old DD has been sick last week - her test came back positive/his was negative. since then, he has symptoms and has been laid out.
i had booked a dinner reservation and hotel room for my guy and i for new years eve - even though i need to, i haven't brought myself to cancel it yet. literally considering going alone cuz i am so disappointed.

I think I had it in Feb 2020 but am preparing for the chance of getting it again. I think it is kind of foolish for anyone to think they couldn't get it. DH and I both work from home are vaccinated and boosted and DD is vaccinated but too young for a booster. Our big exposure is her dancing 5 nights a week. Her studio requires masks for everyone but that is not fool proof.

I dialed back the Christmas plans I had in mind before omicron hit, hoping to at least avoid it for now.
I worry about long COVID. I will continue to do everything I possibly can and hope for the best, but it may very well not be enough. As long as so many continue to carry on unwilling to make any changes to their behavior at all, we're going to always be surrounded by it, making it hard to avoid, I'm afraid.

I have better odds of not getting it compared to many, but I imagine I will get it eventually.
DH and I both work from home 100% of the time now. We are vaxxed, boosted and mask wearers as is the majority in our area. But, my kids are in college and working out of the home and we see them a couple times a month.

I’m vaxxed and boosted and before I was diagnosed with EGPA on Thanksgiving, I would have said I wouldn’t get it. However, now I’m spending a lot of time in hospitals at appointments AND I’m getting chemo to wipe out my immune system, I’m terrified to get COVID and despite being careful feel like I will eventually get it at some point. . EGPA? What is that?
