I'd rather not, am fully vaccinated and boosted, but it feels like it is futile to expect everyone around me (the public, not family,) to manage to follow the masking mandate, so I suspect that I will at some point. I had a cold last week, but tested negative 4 times, so apparently it wasn't Covid.

Yes. It will come from me going to work, I truly don't expect to avoid it forever.

Well, I am super curious about second timers with this variant. I had Covid in Oct 2020, and am still dealing with multiple long hauler Covid issues. I am vaccinated and booster and hoping to avoid a second round of Covid. The first time was pretty scary. I’m in Texas and wear my mask when I am anywhere with a crowd of people. Anyone had it more than once that you know of? Yes. Unfortunately multiple people. Just today a good friend told me her son has it for the second time. The good news is his symptoms are much, much milder this time.

I started feeling poorly on Wednesday and cancelled Christmas Eve lunch at my brother and sister-in-law's house. I tried to get a test on Thursday, but no luck. I got my hands on some of the home tests today, and before the 10 minutes was up, I could see the pink positive line. I've placed a call with my doctor to see what the next steps are.
I received the 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine on 4/1, but hadn't gotten the booster due to a breast MRI on 11/30 and a scheduled mammogram on 1/3 - the vaccine can lead to swollen lymph nodes in the armpit on the arm you received the shot in, and I didn't want to take any chances.
My mom, who lives with me, surprisingly tested negative today. She has a compromised immune system, so I am shocked she doesn't have it. We're going to do another test tomorrow to rule out a false negative.
We were up in Rochester for a bunch of appointments at the Mayo Clinic the week before Christmas, so I think i must have gotten at some point during our travels.

My college freshman is having a bummer of a winter break - so far her boyfriend and her closest high school friend both came home from school with Covid and she hasn’t seen them yet. Seems like the common denominator is that both were waiting to get boosted when they got home instead of getting boosted at school when first available. But who knows. She’s moping around here is all I know.

Hopefully not! I wear my mask everywhere and am vaxxed and boosted. If I was to get it, it would probably be from someone who was exposed to it and gave it to me.

My mom's doctor has arranged for her to get a PCR test this afternoon, as they are more sensitive than the at home tests. She should also get the results tomorrow. So far, it appears to be mild, I'm just super tired. I do have some post nasal drip that I need to keep an eye on because I have a tendency to get bronchitis really easily.

I wasn't really that worried about it until Omicron appeared and seemed to be wreaking havoc, but now I'm just feeling certain that it's inevitable. I probably shouldn't have watched the first episode of Station Eleven- that' surely didn't help!

Sending best wishes that it doesn’t develop into bronchitis for you.

I had it right before Christmas. Didn’t get my booster as I had a tetanus shot on 12/1 and Dr. told me to wait a couple of weeks before getting my booster. Dh had his booster before Thanksgiving and remained COVID free. Watch your cough. When mine became productive and I started coughing up yucky stuff, my Dr. Rx’d a Z-pack to help me avoid pneumonia. It worked and I recovered in time for Christmas. Thankful that it wasn’t too awful, stuffed up head, runny nose, low-grade temp and coughing for a few days. Ds 26 also had it but he had a higher fever, sore throat and some congestion but no cough. I was a lot sicker with pneumonia about 15 years ago.

Yes, unfortunately. I am waiting for a PCR test tomorrow….. starting feeling poorly late in the day Boxing Day (typical cold/flu symptoms) like many not the Christmas break we had hoped for…. Had to delay DD return from uni as she was positive….. so between her coming late after isolation and now me isolating we didn’t get much of a visit.

There is always a chance. But ds is home schooled and sees a 1:1 teacher 3x a week, both masked with 6' between. Dd is taking college classes online.
Dh is a teacher but we are in Ca where masks are mandatory and kids are spaced and he doesn't get close. His district has a solid policy for returning and great covid tracing. Even when he does outside activities kids are masked (don't have to be but they choose to do so).
I shop early to beat crowds. Don't eat inside restaurants. Always wear my mask. I have been at the Uni Hospital as far back as 2 weeks ago and zero symptoms. They do keep possible covid patients outside.
We avoid crowds but still go out.
3 of the 4 of us are boostered. Ds isn't eligible yet due to age.
So if one of us got it, I would be a bit shocked.

Sending best wishes that it doesn’t develop into bronchitis for you. Thank you, elaine and purplebee. I typed most of this response while waiting for the doctor ordered test. I guess I misunderstood the doctor's office when they called - it's a rapid test that should have results within the hour. The nurse said it will most likely be positive though. I posted a picture of my positive home test on Instagram, and my anti vaxxer, multiple MLM shilling cousin was telling me about how there are a ton of false positives in the rapid tests. I tried to be nice in my response, but I couldn't help but massively roll my eyes at her. 🙄 Then again, she and her family, along with one of her sisters and her family, got covid last Christmas. Her other sister got it this year, and she made a FB post thanking everyone who brought food and stuff while she and her family were sick. She included their parents, and the two sister who got sick at Christmas jumped in the comments complaining that their parents hadn't helped them when they were sick (despite the fact they live further away). 🙄🙄🙄

My family got together Christmas Eve (14 of us), all vaccinated and all but a few boostered, all mask wearers, and all tested negative and were feeling fine beforehand. DIL started with symptoms this morning so she tested and both she and my son are positive. My niece is sick but can’t get ahold of a rapid test today but we’re presuming positive. The rest of us rapid tested at home and my youngest and their girlfriend tested positive. The rest of us are negative and asymptotic so far. I’m a nervous wreck right now because my DIL is pregnant, but her OB is prioritizing her for the antibody treatment so I’m trying to hold my shit together. Oh ugh, I am sick for you. Everything crossed that no one else gets sick, and that all the cases are mild. Please keep us posted....fingers crossed on the antibodies for your DIL too. Thank you! I’m glad that you didn’t get it and that C and his partner came through ok!

My nephews family was hit last week. 3 year old positive, and 8 month pregnant mom - I don't think Dad ever bothered to test, just assumed he had it. The worrying was the worst! All had mild symptoms and recovered - so hoping your family will have the same! Thank you; that’s reassuring! We’re up to 7 of the 14 testing positive now. :-(

Probably. I am in Florida and work at a university with blurry COVID policies. Vaccinated but not boosted because I came down with the flu the day before my appointment. Hopefully will be boosted next week.

I feel confident about not contracting Covid. I am a teacher and I am required to maintain 6 feet from students. I am vaccinated and boosted. When I do get close to a student I make sure that it is brief. I also have never had to be tested as well. I do get out often but I always wear a mask and stay away from other people as much as possible. People where I live are compliant with mask mandates so this helps.

Welp, I tested positive today. Not sure where I got it. I’ve contacted everyone i’ve seen since 12/18. Fun times. My household hasn’t quarantined away from me. We’ve spent lots of time snuggling and sitting together. I did a rapid at home test. Tomorrow I will go have a PCR done. I emailed my principal and school nurse to see what I have to do and what I do about my kids who attend my school.

The six foot thing is impossible with the littles. K-1 need hands on help with stuff every day. Once a week I have the unmasked special ed preK students climbing all over me. Even keeping a distance, though, ventilation is a concern. Are you able to keep your windows open all year?

Our building is only 10 years old with high ceilings and the halls are open to the 2 floors. My library is large so I don’t open windows. Only one teacher in my building has contracted Covid but she is unvaccinated due to either religious or medical reasons. She is required to test weekly. We do have 1 sped student who does not wear a mask so those teachers are provided with N95 masks. We have a population of about 550 students and a week doesn’t go by when a student contracts Covid (usually more than one). I have taught preschool in the past so I understand that it is definitely more hands on. For the most part the students are good about wearing there masks and I strictly enforce this. Some teachers are a little more lax.

Although vaxxed, boosted, diligent about masking and avoiding gatherings, with Omicron being so contagious I think chances are higher that it will happen.
DB, SIL and Niece joined us for Christmas after everyone tested negative on rapid tests to be as safe as possible. Since then DD22 has had a coworker test positive yesterday and 2 others were testing today due to symptoms. I think this could be how it gets to us.

I was sure I wouldn't get it, but then tested positive yesterday! I've been so careful with masking and staying away from people and large gatherings, but somehow managed to come into contact with it. The ironic thing is that I was scheduled to get my booster the day I tested positive! Hubby tested positive too, and he's fully vaccinated and boosted. Our symptoms have been fairly mild, but I'm still pissed I got it!!

I do now with Omicron around. Before that I was fairly confident we should be able to avoid it. I have 3 young grandchildren though so I'm more worried for them.
