No. I didn't say that. You did. 99% of the people who voted for the candidate for governor in my state because he pledged to take CRT out of the K-12 schools can't either. Starting with the fact that it isn't taught in K-12 schools. Period. So, why don't you cure me of my ignorance over why truckers are protesting over something taught in law school and explain it to me, because it sure seems like they don't understand it from where I’m sitting. Should my buddies and I start protesting about some material taught in truck driving school that has nothing to do with us in our everyday lives? Should we close down thoroughfares and unrelated businesses because we don't like what they teach in a trade school (analogous to law school which trains lawyers, not our children)? I honestly can't express strongly enough how much I hate Youngkin and the people who voted him on with the campaign he ran here in NoVA emphasizing his belief that parents should be the people who determine what is taught in schools and how it should be taught. I have had a number of conversations with right-wing women in one of my social circles who go on and on about CRT in our local school district - FCPS - and I can vouch that it isn't being taught here. Lies 🙄🙄🙄 You know CRT is being taught in every district in the state, duhhhhh. That’s why this amazing governor of ours started that hotline! To save the children fo Virginia! 🙄🙄🙄 Meanwhile, miles from the governors mansion, we had a school burn down and so many others with such incredibly poor infrastructure that we went without heat in one of my buildings (100+ years old) for two weeks! But who cares as long as we stop the spread of CRT…that isn’t being taught 🙄🙄🙄 I gotta stop before my eyes get stuck! |

On top of long-term subbing full-time, I have 21 hours of live Zoom classes per week. Most of the other 24 students in my program are in central and Southern VA, and it sounds even worse where you all are than it is up here in NoVA. I hate that I can't even talk/vent here about some of the issues I’m facing in the classroom, because I can't trust leaving a digital record that could be used to punish me by the loony-tunes pitchfork-waving right. I even said something about the stupid hotline in my above-post that you quoted, and then deleted it because I wasn't sure how it would be used. |

I looked at the route they are taking and wondered why they did not get on I40 all through Tennessee and the approach DC from the south. Perhaps because I40 is always congested with trucks, IDK. I am not sure why ---- but I did ask on FB how many truckers were *actually* there and someone replied that there was about 7 miles of truckers and from the one overpass I saw, it isn't unreasonable to think that could be right. I also read where 2 fighter jets from Cannon AFB 'flew' them in as they came into town. No clue if that is right but people are talking about it. |

I initially thought that there were only a couple of handful of people cheering them on (from what I could see when I went to lunch) but I have now seen videos and photos and I bet over 1,000 people were lined up on the side of the roads. Apparently a campground outside of Amarillo even had a 'party' for them, giving them food + somewhere to take a pit stop. I have been staying away from most US news as it stresses me out...so I was under the assumption that the caravan wasn't as big and was dying down (going on comments from 2Peas) and it just really surprised me. |

I guess the good thing is that news seem to be ignoring them as there are so many more pressing issues. I haven’t really thought of much else but Ukraine. I believe in free speech. I believe in free assembly. I am very tolerant of those who wish to express views I disagree with - but what the ever loving hell are they thinking?!?! People are dying in Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands are being forced from their homes. The damage is terrible, the stories are heartbreaking. Oh you can give me the whole we can care about 2 things at once bullshit, but they look like fools. Utter and complete fools. Hell will there even be any mask mandates in place before they get to DC? The restrictions are being lifted as omicron has peaked. The timing of this could not be more ridiculous. Go the fuck home and send your gas money to people who are now homeless and fighting for their country.

I have a FB "friend" that lives in the NE section of my state. She works just over the border in OK. She proudly posted a video of the trucks on I40. I don't remember if she stated it or it was in the video but it was 7-8 miles long. I40 rolls through the state just north of me. I had planned on heading up to do some after work errands tomorrow evening. Most of my stuff would not have me on or going over 40. Wonder if I need to rethink my timing of going up? I want to avoid all of that like the plague!

They are staying in Vinita, OK tonight. I've wondered if the convoy was ready for what is not in Vinita. It is a town just short of 6,000 people in 2010. There is a pedestrian overpass there. The top of the overpass has a McDonalds and a cold sandwich shop (sort of like a subway but not) On each side of the interstate is a gas station/convince store and bathrooms. That is ALL there is. Assuming one person per vehicle and 1100 vehicles.... yeah they had that place wiped out in minuets! Makes it easy to stop for gas and snacks no matter which direction you are traveling. I stop there going to my daughters as is is pretty close to half way. They have recently remodeled and it is a nice place to stop, get gas, a snack and a drink but they do not have the amenities for such a large crowd. Even just regular traffic can wipe out their supplies. |
