Truckers are mad that DC traffic hasn't welcomed them with open arms. One trucker was hurt that "two women in a blue Hyundai" flipped them off while driving by. Apparently they expected honks of approval and big parties.
This is what happens when you get your "news" about the Ottawa coverage from livestreams that only show what you want to see. If you watched the Ottawa coverage thinking that those people were warmly welcomed and it was all just a happy time, you'd be surprised to find out that most people are actually upset when you show up and create havoc where they live and work.
So delusional.

Also, the Beltway will always win.

There are 5 main ideas so it's rather short. So sickening they are Holeeeeeee shit. The White Nationalist vibe is strong. We cannot let this party run the country. Even the Rs who “know better” are terrified of the yahoos who don’t. Trump really opened Pandora’s Box. I admit that I didn’t have a fucking clue about how many White Supremacists there were. It’s like they are coming out of the woodwork, like roaches.

No one gives a f&ck what your cause is. If you slow traffic on 495 for any reason - including driving on the beltway when you don't have to - people will curse you, give you the finger, and wish damnation on you and your descendants. Eta: And, because we are due for snow tomorrow, I am sure Ted Cruz is either back in Texas or in Mexico now.

I wonder how many times some of these truckers flipped people off and didn’t think it was a terrorist threat on their part?

I was checking some of the convoy posts on IG. The PeoplesConvoy2022 sends people to the FreedomConvoy2022 since Peoples fizzled out, but Peoples most recent post has now switched. They are saying that Russia attacked Ukraine because the US supplied Ukraine with biological weapons which is a war crime and the place is also crawling with Nazis. Based on "Russian intelligence". And the comments are all whipping themselves into a frenzy against Biden, anyone who voted for them and the fake mainstream media. These people walk amongst us folks. Lawd help, their cheeze haz done slid off its cracker.

I'm so grateful Ted Cruz was there to join the truckers in protesting their horrible tragedy.

Uh oh!! Oops ... 'Freedom Convoy' truckers thought Bitcoin was safe — but their funds have been frozen anywayMatthew Chapman March 15, 2022 On Tuesday, VICE reported that Bitcoin donations to the Canadian "Freedom Convoy" truckers have been frozen and seized — despite the fact that they had thought using the cryptocurrency would keep their proceeds secure. "As Canadian protests against vaccine mandates rose to become a cause célèbre, millions of dollars in donations flew to a Christian crowdfunding site. But that site got hacked and also had to freeze millions of dollars meant for the self-styled 'freedom convoy,' after the government enacted the Emergencies Act to cut off protesters from the financial system," reported Ekin Genç. "In that moment, Bitcoin entered the arena hoping to be the lead rescuer of the protesters from financial troubles, with the organizers of Bitcoin fundraiser HonkHonkHodl raising more than $1 million in the cryptocurrency. It was a big moment for Bitcoin, and the ideals that its proponents see in the cryptocurrency, like censorship-resistant money." Unfortunately for the truckers, the use of Bitcoin, organized in part by HonkHonkHodl organizer "NobodyCaribou," turned out not to be as untouchable as they had hoped. "Many truckers now can’t cash out their donated bitcoin due to financial sanctions, with some of the bitcoins being seized from NobodyCaribou by the authorities. The lead protesters and fundraiser organizers are now facing a class-action lawsuit that wants to give all the donated bitcoins to Ottawa citizens who were in the vicinity of the protests," said the report. "J.W. Weatherman, a pseudonymous lead Bitcoin donor whom NobodyCaribou reached out to for help, brainstormed an action plan via a 25-page public Google doc, and eventually a coder volunteered to help divide 14.6 Bitcoins into 100 separate Bitcoin wallets to be distributed to the truckers. But for the truckers to access the funds, NobodyCaribou had to approach them individually and hand out a meticulously-detailed explanation on how to claim the Bitcoin as well as the codes necessary, all carefully placed in envelopes." www.rawstory.com/freedom-convoy-2656961286/

Now the truckers may actually have something to protest about instead of making stuff up to protest. CBS Sunday Morning did a piece on this several years ago. Some were already testing the technology. From Changing America. link“ Self-driving semis may revolutionize trucking while eliminating hundreds of thousands of jobs.”“I think the most surprising thing there was that everyone we spoke to basically said ‘yeah, this can be done.’” “Story at a glance *Autonomous semi-trucks are being put to the test in the U.S. *The idea is that autonomous trucks could remedy a host of problems in the trucking industry. *A recent study found widespread implementation of self-driving trucks could affect as many as 500,000 jobs.”

Is it good for society? Sure, it will save businesses $$, but what will happen to people who relied on this type of work. But having said that, businesses have a right to make money. I am just concerned about what will eventually happen.

And there will be a rough patch for some while that happens. We don’t see a bunch of horse-drawn carriage makers sitting around decrying the loss of their jobs, right? A robust social safety net would make everyone’s rough patches a lot less rough, but we as a country aren’t interested in pursuing that, so …

On the CBS Sunday Morning show about technology & jobs a couple years ago some expert said 45% of the jobs that exist today will not exist in 20 years. They will be replaced by jobs that don’t exist today. If you think about there is some truth in what he says because of jobs that were done way back when don’t exist today. In a way this is the way it’s always been. People like to claim the challenge to the US job market are jobs being shipped overseas. But the reality is, the real challenge is technology. And very few people want to talk about what will happen. Which I think is a mistake. I think it needs to be talked about and start to prepare the current and future workforce for what will happen.

No offense to the charming, capable people out there who just like driving for a living.

I would be happier with that social safety net, but you are right; it’s not happening any time soon.

And what will they do in Ca? Have a pitty party where they started? Just what we need here then again with our gas prices that should deter them if they are running out of money. It doesn’t sound like they created the same chaos they did in Canada at least.

They're clearing lacking leadership and a clear message. I wonder how many trucks will actually make it to California. dcist.com/story/22/03/28/trucker-convoy-leaving-dc/ It’s unclear what is prompting the move. Organizers say they want to head to California because of a series of bills being proposed related to the pandemic. The plans were first reported by the Daily Beast.“We’re not done here, but we’ll go to California and raise awareness on this along the way and hopefully gain more people like we did on our way here,” convoy co-organizer Mike Landis said at a Sunday night meeting. “And then once we stop this we will come back to finish this job.”
The Speedway’s racing season also starts Saturday and the venue will likely need its parking lot back to accommodate spectators.
Several observers say the movement has fractured as several have been frustrated with the results. Monday, it appeared some of the truckers headed to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to support a Republican candidate for governor there while others packed up the camp back in Hagerstown.

On their IG, they posted an image of several California bills they think they're planning to fight. In the comments, several commenters said it was time to bring the guns. I was reporting those comments. I'm not surprised that violence is their answer, but still disturbing all the same.
