Guess they will miss SOTU address Mar 1st, this Tuesday. They will be in Indianapolis. Scheduled to arrive on the DC Beltway Saturday evening, Mar. 5th. thepeoplesconvoy.org/I haven't had the news on the past few days, I thought they were in DC last weekend. Two of my daughters are going to DC this weekend to visit my college freshman for her birthday. I guess traffic will be a nightmare. |

There is a much larger convoy called The Peoples Convoy, that will near the Kansas and St Louis routes we had planned previously by the morning of February 28th,” the organizers posted on Facebook. they must be close; I live 50 miles west of St. Louis just off of I-44 and saw people getting ready with flags, etc. on overpasses this morning. My first thought was "don't you people have jobs?" because I was driving on I-44 on my way to work when I saw them starting to camp out. I hope the trucks (and the onlookers) don't gum up traffic in the area too much. |

They are within their rights in making their voices heard. They are out of bounds in supposing that they can re-create the chaos that Canada’s truckers caused in Ottawa.

It has been on the schedule since the school calendar came out last summer. Do you know which highways they are taking to get to DC? I looked around a little and didn't see the proposed route on any of the sites I visited. |

It's amusing enough that they call themselves the "Freedom Convoy" considering the country we live in, but it's even more ridiculous given what's going on in Ukraine and Russia. This morning CNN showed a CNN reporter talking to ordinary Russians on the streets and all of them said they were afraid (yet they were brave enough to talk to a reporter) of their government. CNN also showed several different radio and TV stations on their last broadcast as the government forced them to close.  It's like the Christians here who think they're persecuted.  elaine I haven't yet seen actual route info but I'm looking. I asked my dh to ask around at work so he'll get back to me on that. |

elaine I've found two maps after googling around for a bit, but it seems to be two routes. The biggest one that's coming from California shows the convoy coming across the country by a southern route, into Georgia, then turning left on 95 and coming straight up to DC. But, I thought this convoy was coming straight across the middle of the country? Then another route has another convoy coming down 270 from PA. Guess I need to keep googling because I'm confused. lol. Either route leads to the Beltway though, unless they want to come up 95 to 395. wow, that would be a mess because where would they go when they got up to Alexandria and Arlington?

I'm assuming they'll travel 70 East to 270 South. I know other convoys are also supposedly meeting up to come in via 95 as well. Even a group coming down 15 to merge onto 270. This weekend will be interesting. My friend who lives in Myersville said several trucks with signage were sitting at the rest area on 70 (where they caught the DC snipers). |

Most of the convoy wasn't at Pilot, but the Hagerstown Speedway which is on Old National Pike, so they've surely disrupted life around there already. Since school is out there around noon, I'm guessing the school and police think the worst will be around the afternoon time frame in Hagerstown. Depending on your DDs timing, if it looks bad, she might take Old National Pike (Old 40) into Frederick, then make her way to 355 South. It would mean smaller roads, lights, lower speed limits, but if there are miles of trucks, with their bad attitudes, on the highways, it would be less stressful. When I saw 81 on some of the sites, I was worried that they would come across 66 (and right by my house) on the way to 495. I guess that they will be going by my mom’s place in Rockville instead. Good thing that I wasn't planning on driving to see her today. |
