Can we get off the AE butt kiss train already PL scrappers of YT? Please?! Same. I don't even watch most PL videos that only use AE products. I like a mix of products. To be fair, I might feel that way if someone only used one product line but there's so many PL Youtubers who only use AE. And if they love it great, but I skip those videos/scrappers.

A few things that irk me: ~~~why do 'designers' insinuate that 'themed scrappers' are somehow less skilled/less creative than 'non-themed scrappers'? They wear their 'non-themed scrapper' title like a badge of honor. For the love of Gawd, woman...you are scrapping Christmas photos; it's OK to put a tree or ornament on your page in lieu of flowers! If you don't want to, that's fine too...but stop bashing people who like to use things other than the generic embellishments like flowers, labels, and cameras. ~~'visual triangle'...I think I have PTSD from hearing so much about this stoopid (with two Os) design concept. Make your page; put the stuff where you think it looks pretty. Now, on to my confessions: Nothing...I got nothing. This is my hobby; no guilt allowed! The thing that irks me the most about the visual triangle is the youtubers who know you need a triangle or three things, but don’t actually seem to understand the design concept behind it, as in, you’re supposed to put your focal point *inside* the triangle, not just randomly put groups of three things around the page. I mean, you can do that, but that’s not a visual triangle. The same person I’m thinking of also calls it the rule of threes, which is a completely different design concept (well, she’s probably confusing with the rule of thirds). Shimelle is one of the few who actually explains design concepts correctly.

Confession: today, April 19, is my first dip into starting to work on the 2PR December Daily thread + prompts. To get into the mood, I've been playing Christmas music... It's a bit weird, I admit. But it takes time to prepare everything, especially when summer and autumn are pretty busy for me. Oh my goodness, you are dedicated! And we appreciate it, thank you <3

Fonts should be easy to read whether on a card or journaled. I hate bouncy modern calligraphy fonts that are hard to read. Or so swoopy that you can't read the word. I hate words that are broken and stacked (?) TH AN KS CON GRA ULA ATI ONS yes! especially when they're broken in weird places, not syllable-wise, and/or in places that make other words... HO ME and CHR IST MAS are 2 of the worst. All that HE LL O die is missing is a big N. Use a black and grey scheme for the florals, add bright red Nuvo drops and boom, Wednesday Addams is a crafter!

I came across this doing a search for something else--what a thoroughly enjoyable read! Thanks to everyone who participated.
I've been a scrapbooker/paper crafter since 1994. It's very safe to say I have a huge stash. I don't get rid of stuff too often and the word 'purge' is distasteful to me, so I don't use it very often. I also have hoarder tendencies. This is because I am a hoarder. I think lots of people are. I'm not a hoarder like on the TV shows, but it's in there. I let my scrap attic get out of control sometimes. In fact, it was out of control for half of 2020 and all of 2021, partially due to moving my work-from-home office up there. We cleaned out what I like to call my "Monica Closet," which was full of deferred decisions, and that created just a huge mess. I got overwhelmed and left it for over a year. Yuck.
I also got a new job and career and work in an office now, so I got very involved in said job/career and all my creativity went into that for at least a year. I wasn't very interested in scrapbooking or any other kind of paper crafting. That allowed the mess to continue to sit and in some cases grow, as I threw stuff up there and walked away.
Anyway, so I have a huge stash and hoarding tendencies. I fortunately also have a huge space, so it's not been a big issue. I didn't buy much of anything in the second half of 2020 or for most of 2021, which is good. Even up to about May 2022, I didn't buy much in 2022, also good.
Then I fell in again. Soooo, I have made quite a number of purchases. I discovered the hot foil machine at my local scrapbook store a few weeks ago during one of their clearance sales. I had heard a little about it from YT videos the prior few weeks so it was on my radar. Then I went to the clearance sale, and there it was. I cashed in the points I had been saving for probably at least 4 or 5 years and bought it, with enough left over to buy a bunch of accessories as well. I have added other accessories and hot foil plates to my new collection since then.
Things are back under control upstairs now. I still have a few areas to straighten up, but I can work up there and not be overwhelmed by the mess now. Ideally, I like a full but functional, organized and reasonably tidy studio. That's a delicate balance, though. Easily tipped into chaos.
I am sure I have pet peeves. I can't think of any that haven't already been mentioned. Wait, yes I can. I have been a consumer in this industry, as I said, since 1994. I have been "adjacent" to people who run or ran industry-related businesses. I have a really good understanding of how it evolved, since I was there and saw it, and occasionally was involved in it. It does irritate me when relative newcomers come in and make comments that are completely inaccurate about an industry history that they were not part of, to make themselves sound like authorities. That is extremely irritating to me for some reason. I have a hard time not correcting the misinformation, though I count it as a win if I just roll my eyes and move on. There is one person in particular I am thinking of, though I won't name her because she otherwise seems like a lovely person. She has been mentioned on the thread already.
Another pet peeve that is not really a thing anymore, I don't think: The way Bella Boulevard didn't take out the centers of their Os and Es and such. Every single time I look at their stuff, I then look to see if they are still doing that. I know there have been changes because of the owner's illness and I do like their stuff overall but I cannot abide those filled-in Os and Ps and little Es and on and on.
All right. That is enough from me. Thanks again for the fun read!

I just read through this thread again. I’m getting old! I made a few comments when it was new, but completely forgot I participated, more than once.
I like to go to weekend crops, but I don’t want to socialize. I have my earbuds in 80% of the time. I also can’t do them too close together. It usually takes me a month to unpack because after weekend of uninterrupted scrapping, I’m over it for a while. But mostly, don’t talk to me. 😂🙉

I've just went through 2 cups of coffee reading this - you all are so entertaining and so lovely. Thank you sleepingbooty for starting this thread. ScrappinMyLife, it's hard to understand the way some people think; how could they have removed those pages from your sb? Why wouldn't they have just asked if you could send them a copy? So sorry that happened to you. Lilacgal, oh yes! That elephant pp from BG! I used it to make covered wooden letters for my great-gr dau's name. I did like quite a few of BG's papers. Chendra, I was never a fan of the ever-present brushstroke script either. Maybe in small doses. Jenna, loved the "storytelling" about your cat! Artbabe, my supplies are not put away in pretty, coordinated furniture either. I try to organize and label but I still have a bit of a scavenger hunt now & then. Seveerb, The "finger wiggles" are kind of off-putting. Don't know why, maybe because they look dismembered? But I'm a complete sucker for a cat in a video. Wordfish, I love Bella Blvd. but that was sort of an odd design choice to leave the chads in the letters. But I bought 'em all the same. A few things I don't care for: 1. felt on l/o's 2. puffy stickers - I can't really say why I don't like them (I love the foam Thickers); they just feel weird to me. 3. the color purple - so hard for me to use.

* I take way too long to create pages - like if I was able to measure the time probably around 8 hours a page from the time I select the photos until I glue on the last embellishment. The 8 hours is usually over the course of 5 - 10 days - an hour or two per sitting. This is me! Sometimes I start on a page, then decided I need something custom on the background, then I sort thru scraps of paper looking for the correct color-then maybe I have a stamp to use, then look for embellishments.

Do you mean sunnycamom? I don’t know why she deleted her account. Thanks, I didn't know that was her. I don't think she went out in a blaze of glory (or a flounce) so hope she comes back. Edited to say I rarely go to the NSBR side and when I do I am usually rebuffed with extreme prejudice (kidding I love that George Costanza quote, more like I get few replies there) so if something happened on NSBR I probably missed it.

ScrappinMyLife, it's hard to understand the way some people think; how could they have removed those pages from your sb? Why wouldn't they have just asked if you could send them a copy? So sorry that happened to you. The pages were removed at a Family gathering. I brought a scrapbook to show, and it is passed around with whomever looking at it. I know who did it, but can't prove it, and that person likely went and sat in the living room alone to look at it, decided they wanted certain photos, so they probably discreetly slid the page out, rolled it up and put it in their purse. Typical narcissist behavior on their part. I didn't know the pages were missing, until the next time I was looking at it or show off the album. Backtracking to when I last showed off the scrapbook, helped me figure out who it was. They will deny it, if confronted about it. Lesson learned.

ScrappinMyLife, sadly sometimes it takes something like that to see what a person is really like. But yes, a lesson for the future.

I like to go to weekend crops, but I don’t want to socialize. I have my earbuds in 80% of the time. If I go with a friend, I am happy to chat. But I will admit here, that the one weekend crop that I went to and ended up alone (my co-scrapper couldn't make it at the last minute) and I got to work uninterrupted with my headphones in was pure bliss.

I LOVE the quality of a CM album. They look so pretty all lined up in my bookcase.
Ok you can laugh at me now. I still have a power punch, old scrapbook magazines, mm magnet tiny lettering, my BH Sketches nicely spiral bound and some unopened Sizzix sizzlit lettering dies.

Today's confession is that I still sometimes regret messing up a PL card. Happened this week. Stamping gone wrong. I tried saving it but it went from bad to worse. I ended up tossing the card aside and starting afresh with a different one and a different design idea. And the extra confession is that messy/messed up doesn't always cut it for me. Some things are uneven and unexpected but look fine and leave my scrappy soul feeling at peace. I move on and over time even forget these were initially ruh-roh moments. But some things just bug me and I have to take them out of my album. I live in the grey zone. Not quite perfectionist all the time but also unable to always go with the flow. On the upside, I love the new (less ambitious) card design I came up with as a replacement. Scrapbooking is more of a back-and-forth process with ups and downs for me rather than a goal-focused, eyes-on-the-prize hobby. C'est la vie.

I'm sunnycamom 😁 long story short, I was attacked personally and hurt by a few peas so I bounced. An IRL friend told me crap was being said and lies spread so I created a new account but it took admin 5 or so days to accept my account (there is at least a 48 hr wait now) so I could clear the air and defend myself.

My scrappy confession…I’ve made fewer than ten pages in all of 2022. I’ve also made next to no videos for my YouTube channel. I think those two may be related. I kinda want to shift directions on YouTube from process videos to more educational type videos - like basic supplies to start with and the difference between all Nuvo Drops. My mind feels all tangled up.

Reviving this thread because I have 2PR-sinned. After trashing the newest Crate Paper collection, Moonlight Magic (deservedly so), I just ordered the ephemera pack and a couple of PPs. And then I ordered even more floral Crate Paper by adding several things from Gingham Garden to my cart.
What's wrong with me? It's almost like I enjoy being annoyed by the amount of generic Maggie Holmes-ish floral stuff in my stash. Crate Paper really brings out my masochist side.

Crate Paper really brings out my masochist side. This was too funny! I am struggling with the same. I basically hate most of what gets picked for BOBW kits with Shimelle, then I watch the BOBW lives (which I love) and see what she does with that stuff and then I want it really bad. It's like I can't see how good it is until Shimelle does something with it. Kind of ticks me off at myself, why can't I see the product is awesome (looking at you purple thickers) until Shimelle uses it?
