I have worked on my DD since like day 8. Just not in the mood. So I packed it away for now and will bring it out later in the year when I am not so burned out on Christmas. I wish I'd done that. Instead I just slapped it together and it's my worst DD ever. I feel a little better that it's on a shelf, but man, you'll be able to tell when you go through it that it was just not a good holiday for me. Maybe that's for the best though. Honestly, this wasn't a great holiday for me either and I finish this years book I will be super surprised. Nothing terrible went wrong but there were a lot of little disappointments that added up. I am even debating starting completely over and just using a 4x6 or 3x8 album and scrapping what I've already done in 6x8. But I am going to sit with that a little before I commit to that. I have come to the realization that for going forward, I think I want to use a 12x12 album and just add to it each year. Being empty nesters, it's getting harder and harder to have enough 'new' stuff to include in a 6x8 album. Who knows though...when I see all the pretty stuff I might just change my mind again!

What’s a good method for securing a smooth chipboard piece (Felicity Jane number) to a piece of vellum? It’ll be a pocket, so I don’t want to staple (concerned tags will catch on the inner staple bits). This chipboard seems very sturdy, so I don’t want to risk sewing through it destroying it/breaking my needle.
Adhesive. Is wet glue good on vellum? I have an insane sticky kind in a tiny bottle from sc.com. Otherwise I have dot runner and that huge pink Scott glue gun thing. I also have some of the sc.com version of red line tape. I have never used it, so don’t know if it’s as good as the real stuff.
Help!

It’ll be a pocket, so I don’t want to staple I like the look of staples. To avoid them catching, I put some washi tape over the back of the staple. And I have the ACOT version of the red line tape and it's very good. I actually like it better than the real stuff because it's easier to get off the backing. I also use glue dots like they're going out of style. In fact, I think they have gone out of style because I don't see anyone use them but me. I have both the micro and mini glue dots (on rolls that come in boxes).

I feel a little better that it's on a shelf, but man, you'll be able to tell when you go through it that it was just not a good holiday for me. Maybe that's for the best though. Its funny, I was all in at the beginning but then when December rolled through I just kept staring at my supplies. No incentive at all. I didn't do one last year. It was a super bad year for my family. But I thought I was ready to dive in this year. Nope. I think a lot has to do with the fact that I scrap on my dining room table, and in December we use that table a lot more. Its a pita to keep putting stuff away and taking it all back out. (and I am a messy crafter!) So then I thought, well I will just do it after Christmas. So the day after Christmas I pulled it all out, and had zero energy for it. So I did exactly what you did. I just slapped it together. It sucks, haha. I even saw my dh looking at it and then just sitting it back down. Usually he will comment about it. I thought about going back to it. I can actually think of a lot of things I didn't include now and that bums me out. But its done. In January I need to look forward!

Belated Happy New Year everyone! Just catching up on the thread and still a few pages to go.
I'm still working on my DD album. December was a crazy month at work and I hardly got anything done for my album. Also didn't do as many outings/events as I'd hoped, although I had a nice Christmas Day and then a friends to stay at the end of the month.
I still have 8 days to go in my album unfortunately. Definitely won't be my best but I still do enjoy looking back on things later. Now I'm just keen to finish it! I still also need a few more prompts so will be going back and having a look at those as well to get some ideas.

I e been meaning to ask how those big transparent trees from AE worked out in DD. I haven’t really noticed them popping up in Instagram at all, but it was an item that sold out. Has anyone seen any cool uses with them?

Has anyone seen any cool uses with them? I ordered them, but haven't used any of them. I'm just not super inspired by them. We kinda did alot of tree stuff a couple years ago when they were in product play, and I have really only seen one use of them that was outside that box. I don't recall where I saw it, but I only look here, blog and a very little on FB... but someone used one of the chipboard frames from the Stories of Chrismas Past (most under-whelming product and class.... I hate that I bought it) anyway, the trees were situated such that they looked like a little forest, with the chipboard frame on top, and some other embellies to kind of make it look like looking out a window. It was pretty cool!

My 2022 December photos finally arrived! Perfect timing since I have a 3 day weekend. Diving in tonight, wish me luck. Also, Ali posted a flip through of her mom’s DD 2021 album. It’s really sweet and a good reminder that these books are not just for the here and now. Even if you feel a page wasn’t your most creative, in the end, it’s the stories and memories that truly matter.

Neither my kids or myself are comparing how my pages stack up against random Ms.Scrapssogood. My family thinks I’m SO talented (lol) and I get so much joy from the process. Nothing else matters.

I've been busy printing out photos for my PL album now that I've finished my JYC/DD album. I've shared here before that I don't have a particularly large Christmas stash and there weren't any lines that appealed to me this year so while I picked up a couple of the FJ die cut packs on sale I didn't really have much else to work with. I've just worked through my stash dropping cards and embellishments into page protectors so I can make sure I use them, and decided to count what is left over. I have 6 PL cards (2 4x6 snowy scenes and 4 3x4 which I'll easily be able to use), and 15 die cuts/stickers/chipboard/acetate embellishments. I've got a handful of word stickers (2 snowy/wintery words on one sheet, and 6 more generic phrases on another which I'm going to work on using up as I make my last pages).
I'm so incredibly proud to have used so much of what I've bought and am really hoping I love a line next Christmas!

I managed to get a jello salad story into my JYC book without having to make or eat one myself. I couldn't leave it out! I think I have both last year's and this year's books done now. I proofed this year's book the other day and found a few missing stories which also helped me to fill the last 4 pages (trade book page count has to be divisible by 6). I ended up working on my year review book, my nephew's year book, and 2 JYCs all at once, filling in the last few weeks of stories so it got pretty confusing. I'm hoping to return with fresh eyes to look them over and get them uploaded when I see a decent coupon. (sorry there's no page outline - it's a 5x8" page) 12filler jello copy by jo.blackford, on Flickr

I actually really like Jello but I haven't eaten it in years because I'm vegetarian. I need to have my husband figure out how to make it for us without gelatin.

I lost my mojo. This has never happened before. I think it’s because I have a large project waiting in the wings that I’m super excited about. I have all but 2 pages assembled and in the album. Next is journaling and embellishment. I could just skip that part but I won’t be happy if I do that.
Next year I might go back to a straight up pocket page album. Nothing fancy. No out of pocket spreads. Super simple. Of course I say that and then when the time comes I go hog wild.

Has anyone seen any cool uses with them? I am one who ordered and then when it shipped was told they ran out . They gave me digitals for free. I ended up printing some on vellum grouped together and then embossing them. And I did also printed some on cardstock and used my silhouette to cut them and used on a gift for someone. I’m still sad I did not get the plastic ones but I did end up using the digitals.

I packed up all my DD supplies and put them in our Harry Potter closet under the stairs. I didn't quite manage to finish 2020 before we moved and didn't even start 2021 or 2022. It actually felt good to pack everything away, label the box, find it a home, and know I'll pull it out in the future when I'm feeling Christmasy again. Just giving myself a break and if I never get around to 2021 or 2022 that's okay.
Love hearing about everyone's progress. Congrats to anyone that has or is finishing.

I ended up working on my PL last weekend (got it finished-yeah!) so didn’t work on DD 2022 much. Since November, I have done my 2021, 2020 (even though I already had that year done, haha), and 2016. I was sick of my stash at that point, so ordered a Paper Person Christmas kit to refresh my enthusiasm. I make my own albums with recycled vintage books (don’t come for me please!), so I am planning out 2022 and still have momentum to get it finished. I have 2018 to do as well, with an Elles Studio Christmas kit from this year. The colors are pretty basic, but ended up matching my photos really well. Hoping to get that done as well, but I may squirrel out and focus on starting PL 2023.
