I am extremely uncomfortable with the "called by God" and "Army sent by God" mentality... Many horrifying events and atrocities have been committed by people who decide they have been "Called by God" to act upon others. Mobilizing a hate mob against someone else, and feeling like this mob was justified by God/Jesus/Higher Power isn't Christian or scrapbooking...it's freaking creepy AF. I'm with you on this. I currently sub, just because I like the mindless chatter about scrapbooking and I can put it on to listen while I'm doing other things, but this whole thing and the letter have left a bad taste in my mouth. Seriously considering unsubscribing, because while I've gotten some really good organizational ideas from Janet, I'm pretty sure I don't want to feed into validating her or supporting her with my money. This is how I feel. I actually got a lot of organization ideas from her as well but could not continue to support her when she is using God the way she did. Im usually a 'you do you' kind of Christian...but for me, this is a line in the sand. God would never approve of the mob mentality that she is supporting and to suggest otherwise is just wrong. Had she come back and just said 'you know, my feelings were hurt but I've taken some time and thought about it and upon reflection, I am choosing to move forward and as a group, I encourage you to as well. Now lets scrapbook' --- I would have totally supported her and continued to be a subscriber. |

I cancelled my subscription right after this all started and didn’t realize that I could still access Patreon until the month is over. I just read a few comments to her post. Seriously, what’s she putting in the Kool-Aid (although it was actually Flavor Aid because he bought the cheap stuff)? I wonder what would happen if there was a negative comment left.

Seriously, what’s she putting in the Kool-Aid (although it was actually Flavor Aid because he bought the cheap stuff)? I wonder what would happen if there was a negative comment left. Ha! I wondered the same thing. I actually posted last week over there asking if there would be new content for Sept and if not, should I cancel now. I got hand slapped and told that the best way to support our friend was to pay for my membership even if she didn't post. |

Do I have to turn in my pea card if I choose to stay in the fb group and participate in the swaps??? I really do enjoy that aspect of the fb group... I did snooze it for 30 days to get past all this brohaha... lol i love that word... but as far a scrapbook fb groups go... its pretty active and i like the layout shares... We should all be free to do what we want! I do enjoy the layout shares too. I also enjoy my eye-rolls with some people posting. Too much. Way too much, but I am sure that I can be way too much for some people too. I am of the camp that if it makes you happy, stay. If it doesn't make you happy, leave. I often try to put myself in other people's shoes to understand them. My guess is that Janet was offended because she doesn't make negative comments about people and does try to remain positive on her videos. So she felt very hurt whether any comment was intentional or not. I know I could sit for 12 hours at parent teacher conferences and have 28 great conferences and the one I would remember would be the one parent that wasn't happy. It is how I am wired. But I also know that if you are putting yourself out there on YouTube or Patreon (or any social media) you are going to have situations that aren't all positive. It happens here. You have to learn how to navigate things when they don't go your way (real or imagined). I am also of the camp that you don't go looking to be offended. I would love to have seen Janet extend the olive branch and show how Christianity was taught in my church. I feel like her message just created a bigger divide, but that isn't my call. There are posters on the NSRB that are wonderful at clarifying, apologizing if needed, admitting they were having a bad day (or even been tipsy), and moving past a disagreement. I think it shows a person's morality, religion, or whatever they choose to call it. It is being human at its finest. |

I mean, I can't speak for anyone but myself but I don't follow or sub to any scrapbooking thingamabobs. I'm scrapbook-adjacent at best - gimme all those sweet, sweet die cuts and paper piecing sets, yes please!
So yeah, up until this thread the only RTS in my lexicon was 'real time strategy' - not my favourite genre either.
As for if the RTS Patreon is worth your dollar or not, well that's a personal choice now isn't it? If you get a dollar's worth of value and you're content financially supporting the creator, then go for it. Nobody here is going to try and police what people do offsite, because we're all reasonable grown-ups.  |

As soon as you start to monetize your content it feels to me a bit more like a business venture. You have people paying for a product--either deliver the product or expect people will back out. She is not my friend, I have never even met her. Why in the world would anyone pay for content that isn't being posted? That really irritates me! ETA: I was in the same boat as wondering when to pull the plug and cancel due to lack of content. |

I admit I got sucked into the entire drama and followed RTS from the beginning of it. I checked here to see if it would be discussed, and boom I think within 15 minutes this thread began.
I am too curious about the crazy lamp lady.

I know I'm going to regret asking, but who is Crazy Lamp Lady?No, you won't regret this. She's a young lady who started off purchasing things from thrift stores and garage sales and reselling them. She had a fondness for lamps early on. Through the last several years, she started posting videos every day of what she buys and sells and it has turned from a part-time gig to purchasing a large place to store her stuff and she sells on eBay and does extremely well for herself. She quite her job and now she and her significant other run the business and own several homes and she is really quite fun to watch. She has a big following (like Janet), but is pretty down to earth and raises her family, runs her business, and loves to go on daily runs to Goodwill, antique businesses (in the northeast - mostly Pennylsvania) and a few hoarder homes. You can find her under Crazy Lamp Lady on YouTube. I have no interest in doing what she does, but I do love to watch her do it. |
