Is an electronic cutting machine (e.g. Silhouette Cameo, Cricuit Maker) among the tools you use when creating layouts? If so, please share its primary function (e.g. titles, backgrounds). TFS. I have one but I use to more for crafts currently than scrapping. Just to fussy and time consuming for me right now. I do hope to eventually upgrade a d use it more but at the rate things are going that won't be until my kids are out of HS in 5yrs.

Yes, generally just for cutting out titles.

I said yes, but I have to get mine set up again after moving. DD and DGS just got my standing desk assembled, so now I just need time.
I use it for titles, state outlines for 50 state albums for myself and the grands, etc. I don't mind paying $1 or $2 for a cut file. That is way cheaper than buying embellishments.

My mom has a cricut and she cuts things for me to use all the time. I quickly learned that I hate backing cutfiles, lol. I love when she can make me the perfect embellishment for the page I’m working on.

yes but not as often as I should. Mainly for embellishments - sometimes titles, rarely backgrounds. I need to learn how to back cutfiles

I use my Silhouette Cameo for titles, backgrounds (rarely), stencils, tags, frames, borders, lots of die cuts/embellishments, journaling spots, etc. I don't necessarily use it for all of these things on every LO, but almost all pages do have a title or words/word art that I've cut with my Cameo.
Ever since I've gotten it and set it up the first time, I've kept it set up in my scrap room to make it easy to just quickly cut stuff as needed for LOs.

Yes, but I typically batch cut a few at once so I have them ready. I really should use it more though. I love the pages with cut files.

I use my Silhouette all the time. All of my layouts have titles and most have paper piecings.

i would have checked the "sometimes" option if it was there. i do it so rarely that yes and no would not have been accurate.

I voted "No" since I don't have an electronic cutter. I sometimes cut out alphas or a few shapes on my old Big Kick.

Yes. I use it regularly for titles and embellishments. I have the OG Silhouette Cameo and it’s still going strong. I just replaced the o-rings because I had the problem that many Silhouette users have had with the black no-rings breaking down and leaving streaks on paper. Problem solved.

I primarily use it for scrapping and it's usually for titles or an embellishment for a filler card for a pocket.

Nope. I have a manual die cutter, well 2 - Revolution and Big Shot.
I don't see the need for a Cricut or the like for myself. I don't need overlays or large titles or specialty cut outs.

I love my Silhouette and use it on nearly every page, mostly for title work but also embellishments. If mine broke tonight I’d order a new one tomorrow.

i would have checked the "sometimes" option if it was there. i do it so rarely that yes and no would not have been accurate. This is me too. I am terrible about using it, mostly down to laziness, and the fact that I usually leave it so long between each use that I have a learning curve again. I keep telling myself I'm going to invest the time to learn how to use it properly but never get around to actually doing it.

Yes, I use my Cricut on a lot of my layouts. Backgrounds, titles, embellishments etc.

I have a cricut expression with SCAL software. I don't use it all the time. It's kind of a pain to set up.

I tend to use it every time, even if it’s just for the title, but I often use it for more than that.
In addition to titles, which is the main reason that I bought my first cutter, I cut embellishments with it for many of my layouts. I also use it for cutting the outlines of stamps when I don’t have the matching dies (then do the cut first stamp second method). I keep mine out and ready to use all lf the time, which makes it a lot easier to use consistently.

Funny you ask, I just used it yesterday for a craft project for shirts - first time I have ever done that. I almost always use mine for December Daily since Ali E always has some fun creative examples using hers. I also use it for project lay outs - like if I am making albums for the basketball seniors or something where I spend the time to create a file and then cut repeatedly.
I would like to use it more, but some of it is about routine and habit as well as knowing what you can do with it - the idea part. I think there are also a lot of different styles for using it and I am less cute and more clean lines so I need to find other ppl who use it that way.

Thanks for your responses &/or participation in the poll. I'm in the minority & don't own an electronic cutting machine. Having considered a Silhouette Cameo 4 during the past couple years, I’m uncertain whether I'd use it enough (primarily for backgrounds, given I've already invested in dies including numerous alphas, nested shapes, Big Kick, & Sidekick) to justify its storage space.

Try borrowing one or buying pre cut backgrounds on Etsy to see if you like them. It’s really a personal preference thing.

I know that scrapbookers tend to think of it only for scrapbooking, but I use mine for far more than that. It was well worth the price just for scrapbooking and card making, but I have ended up doing crafts that I never thought of till I realized how much potential it has.
I use it for making home decor items. When our family went to Walt Disney World in 2017, I made 27 custom t-shirts. They were unique, and cost less than buying official Disney shirts. This trip (we are in Orlando/Kissimmee, Florida now…….the hurricane interrupted and delayed some of our plans), I made at least 16 custom Disney and Harry Potter shirts. I’ve also used it to cut leather for bracelets and key chains. I’ve cut stencils and done glass etching, but you can use it to cut stencils for paper crafting, too. It will cut fabric with the fabric blade, although I don’t use it for that.
If you are on the fence, and do other crafts, it’s very versatile.

I have a Cricut that whilst I don't use it regularly, I love it when I do use it. I mostly use it for printing and cutting digital ephemera.
