Ok. Say we split this country into two separate countries. The country of Blue and the Country of Red.
Two questions come to mind.
1. Which of the newly formed countries would be more successful?
2. How many states that are considered purple would go with the blue states?
All joking aside, can you even imagine a member of Congress making a comment like this? I wonder if she’s drunk? Or maybe someone hacked her account?
“America Last policies, we are done.” Is the part of the tweet not showing.

On the flip side of her comment, some of us are sick of having their disgusting MAGA culture shoved down our throats at every opportunity.
It's hard to remember she is only one of many Georgia congresspersons when she bellows all day like the village idiot and the media gives her oxygen.
Far more states are blue and purple than gerrymandering and voter suppression let on. We can't abandon fellow citizens to her basically open call for civil war.

I am so glad she got her twitter account back. So many wonderful gems of wisdom from her! 🤣 And isn’t she advocating for an insurrection?!

Aren't they supposed to be opposed to "divisive rhetoric?"
I love her "everyone I talk to" statement - shades of Trump's "many people are saying." In other words, only the voices in their heads are saying it.
I do have to wonder which way she thinks Georgia would go in her supposed divorce. It's far from being a solid red state.

I am so glad she got her twitter account back. So many wonderful gems of wisdom from her! 🤣 And isn’t she advocating for an insurrection?! Agreed. All of her hateful statements can and should be preserved as evidence so that traitorous villain can be purged from Congress. This tax paying blue stater would love it if my federal tax dollars weren’t continually being funneled to support those tax dodging MAGA red states.

From MSNBC article…
”In late 2021, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene briefly referenced “a National Divorce scenario” that seemed to allude to the dissolution of the United States. About a year later, the Georgia Republican seemed to predict a “national divorce” in response to the CDC adding Covid shots to its list of recommended vaccine schedules.
This morning, as some elected officials released statements recognizing the Presidents’ Day holiday, the right-wing congresswoman published a message to Twitter that steered clear of traditional American patriotism. The missive read in its entirety:
“We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s [sic] traitorous America Last policies, we are done.”
At face value, this isn’t especially surprising. Greene has earned a reputation as one of the most radical members of Congress in recent memory. She’s expressed support for violence against Democratic elected officials, and a year ago, the Georgia Republican appeared at a white-nationalist event. The fact that the congresswoman has endorsed a vision in which Americans “separate by red states and blue states” is entirely in line with everything we know about her.
But let’s not lose sight of the larger context: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and GOP leaders recently rewarded Greene with committee assignments, including a slot on the House Homeland Security Committee. Are Republicans prepared to defend a member of the House Homeland Security Committee openly endorsing the dissolution of the United States?”
That’s not a rhetorical question. GOP leaders should let the public know whether they’re comfortable with such a dynamic — and what they’re prepared to do in response if they’re not comfortable with such a dynamic.
Indeed, that’s ultimately what matters most in response to so many of the controversies Greene creates. Her extremism is routine to the point that’s become background noise. Basic American patriotism generally prevents elected officials from endorsing the dissolution of the United States, but we’ve reached the point in our collective history at which members of Congress can publish such messages — which would’ve sparked a genuine scandal in the not-too-distant past — and much of the political world shrugs, seeing it as somehow routine.
With this in mind, it seems as if the focus should be on McCarthy. Her extremism has become predictable, but his responses to her radical vision are still relevant. How comfortable is the House speaker with one of his prominent allies calling for the breaking up of our country? What is he prepared to do about it? Can we feel confident in the work of the House Homeland Security Committee knowing that Greene is on it — and she no longer wants to live in the same nation as many Americans?
“I That’s not a rhetorical question. GOP leaders should let the public know whether they’re comfortable with such a dynamic — and what they’re prepared to do in response if they’re not comfortable with such a dynamic.
“I will never leave that woman,” McCarthy reportedly told a friend, referring to Greene, after his hard-fought struggle to win the speaker’s gavel. “I will always take care of her.”
Does that sentiment have a limit?will never leave that woman,” McCarthy reportedly told a friend, referring to Greene, after his hard-fought struggle to win the speaker’s gavel. “I will always take care of her.”
Does that sentiment have a limit?”

Wow it sounds kind of appealing, doesn't it? So simplistic to talk about red vs. blue, and ignore complex issues of rural vs. urban, white males vs. others, evangelical Christians vs. others, less-educated vs. more, etc. It's pretty funny when you realize that Kevin McCarthy and many other Republicans are from rural areas of "woke" states. If you look at the bottom 25 of the states by size of their economy, you will see a big overlap with red states. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, MTG.

I’m all for it. The morons living in red states will be illiterate and destitute within 2 years asking for handouts and the blue states can tell them to go fuck themselves.
Can we give Texas back to Mexico while we’re at it?

fine but where will they get all that federal funding they love swilling down on? lots of these states rank high in receiving federal funds but very low in turning over funds. what will they do then when all the blue tax money stays with the blue states?

She says once this divorce happens she wants to shrink the Federal Government. Which means eliminating most if not all the safety nets.
Which means that will hurt a huge chunk of the residents of the Red States.
Which means many will try and make their way to Blue States.
Which means the Blue States will have to put up fences to keep them out.
And I just checked and Georgia is showing as a blue state which means she will be booted out just like Kevin McCarthy.
She sure didn’t think this through did she.

She doesn’t think. That is her problem. She just wants her name in the news.
It is a double edge sword. I sometimes wish the media would ignore her and stop giving her oxygen. The flip side is they need to keep her in the news so people can see just how stupid she is.

The way other people in my state vote does not mean that I believe what they do or vote the way they do. Blue states are full of conservative voters the same way our state has plenty of liberal voters.

Y’all think Texas & Florida are going to support y’all? Lmao.
Matter of fact I’d warn Florida that many of their pensions are still taxable by the entity paying them, and then apply the taxation rules of your country of residence… be careful what you wish for.
Why say something out loud that can’t happen realistically without vast devastation, at minimum financial devastation but most likely bloodshed? She’s a real sick one.
I guess we can all follow along Oregon’s journey to see how it works out? Although as part of Idaho they’d still be getting federal funds so not exactly an accurate comparison.

Yeah, the disenfranchised (at the state level) cities of Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas would like a word.
She doesn’t actually think this could happen. It’s just a stupid line intended to remind her base that no matter now noxious Republican policies are, their “real” enemies are minorities, LGBTQ, etc.

Can we give Texas back to Mexico while we’re at it? I live in Georgia and I'm far from a moron. My friends are not morons. We are not looking for handouts. We don't support her politics. Put away that wide brush--this isn't a "state" problem, it's more of an urban vs rural problem but even that isn't absolute. It would be nice if she didn't constantly get media coverage and social media retweets for every stupid thing she says. She should be arrested as a traitor to the United States for encouraging sedition. Also, even if GA did become part of a red country, it's hardly likely its citizens would become destitute. The old "illiterate hillbilly" thing is tiresome, those people are everywhere. The state is booming and has been since I got here in 2018. Sure there's room for improvement, but I love it here.

I disagree strongly with their vote but they are not morons because of their voting choices. There are a million and one reasons why I vote blue. Conservatives have many reasons for voting red. Just because we disagree passionately with conservatives, or we think their reasons are not valid or based on lies, that does not make voters stupid.

Red states think this is a great idea until they look at how much money they get in federal taxes, funded in large part by blue states. Socialism* for the win!
*I know this isn't what socialism truly is, but given the way conservatives talk about it, this certainly falls under "socialism".

I’m all for it. The morons living in red states will be illiterate and destitute within 2 years asking for handouts and the blue states can tell them to go fuck themselves. I mean, MTG is an absolute moron, but I actually love the idea! Not in a "you should really do it" way, but in a "I'd love to see that" kind of way. As well as being illiterate, they'd shoot each other to oblivion, with no gun control. They can live in their little fantasy land with no thought provoking books, no gays, no trans people, a mountain of unwanted pregnancies (and women dying from backyard abortions), prayer back in schools...... how heavenly! I'd love to see those MAGA morons actually get what they think they want, and how quickly they'd realise they've been lied to all along. ETA: The morons that I'm referring to are the MAGA cult followers, not everyone who lives in a red state. In my fantasy, all the MAGA morons go and live in their own little country, and everyone else, including sensible Republicans, can live in what's left of the USA. ETA2: In case I have to spell it out, "sensible Republicans" are those who don't believe the Dems are raping children in a pizza restaurant.
