Good Sunday morning, Pokeys. Glad you enjoyed the crop, those who could join in, and that you had fun at the beach, AussieMeg , and nylene is still enjlying family time. We were not back from our mini road trip until the crop was already closed. It was fun to hang out with justjac . We exchanged birthday and Christmas gifts, and spent some quality time in the LSS. I think the owner is totally delighted when we come in together b/c we are always pointing out stuff the other one should buy, and sometimes we accept each other's recommendations. The good news is that we got to spend our "points" which meant our purchases were roughly %50-%60 off! But we totally missed getting a photo of us together . It sounds like YOU need a lazy day, too, Linda , but it doesn't sound like you are going to get it if you need to be running your dd around for her activities. Our Christmas house is staying the way it is until after Ukrainian New Years' Day which is January 14th. So all of that cleaning and packing will have to wait. Hoping I can get my helper here for that operation. Have fun on your DATE, joyfulnana . I don't understand the first thing about Pokemon Go, but if it keeps a Nana and her dgs engaged, having fun together, it must be a winner! gramma , I hope you have some time to enjoy the good parts of your work this last January at your job, and that all the deadlines are not too overwhelming. It's nice to think about having help with it, and handing it over, but training a replacement adds a whole new level of stress and a ton of time. And that person will probably never know what a blessing it is to have this start to the job with you right there--until next January. I suggest that then you disconnect your phone, or be off on vacation LOL. (You would be welcome to spend Ukrainian Christmas with us!) It IS heartwarming, kitbop that this is his safe place. It makes sense for a guy with attachment disorder who was shuffled around by the system until he was 2 1/2 years old, then joined a military family whose home has changed three times in the last seven years. During that time, he also lost his grandmother and great grandfather on his dad's side of the family. But we have been the same people in the same place since he met us. I am hoping this will be a lazy day for me. So far I have slept in, made coffee, then fed our cats, changed their litter, and freshened up their "condo" in the garage. So now I have absolutely no plans other than to drink this coffee that is in front of me LOL. Yesterday I woke up itching to use some of the scrappy supplies from justjac 's gift, so put together a page. Then we watched a U-11 hockey game where "our" team won and dgs scored a goal. Then we went on to a community hall a few miles away where they had country/western music (some local, some semi professional) and a Ukrainian themed supper (to celebrate "Ukrainian Christmas").

kitbop - I have totes all over the place also - hopefully Monday I'll be able to get them away grammadee -I could use a lazy day - maybe Tuesday? I'm so glad that you're a safe spot for your GS - not an easy start to life. Enjoy the preparations leading to Ukrainian Christmas - I think I read that Ukraine switched to celebrating Dec 25th starting in 2023.

Happy Sunday and Happy New Year! Waving hi to all of you and hope you are having a nice Sunday. We went last week to see the city's float that was in the Rose parade on New Year's Day. I wish I could of seen it during the day but I saw it in the evening at the local hotel parking lot after Ron got off work. It was lovely with butterflies and Flamingo birds. Today was resting and maybe getting out later to get some dinner for dh. He likes Panda Express on Sundays so we will probably go get that. Have a good night all.

grammadee it really is so heartwarming that you and grandpa are the safe place. He may have had a rough start, but man he has a GREAT family now! I hope you got that lazy day you were looking forward to! I had no idea about Pokemon Go either, until I was talked into playing it during the pandemic lol. Linda, I hope you are able to get some rest soon! Maybe once DD is back in school? AussieMeg no one can blame you for missing the crop lol! I wish our season were more in sync, I was just thinking maybe during your winter, which is summer here and the crops pretty much die once the weather is warm lol. Add me to the list of those that have Christmas taken down and totes/boxes still to store away lol. Rudy and I had such a good day together. I really love it, because he had asked to sleep over, and I gave him a choice of a sleepover or hanging with me for practice he chose practice because we get more time that we aren't sleeping and have more time to hang out together. Or maybe it's because he really really doesn't like going to practice? LOL!

The rest of Christmas is packed up and put away - even the totes - except for the two trees which still need DH or DD to disassemble and box. My Fisher Price collection is back in the craft room (it was packed away to make space for the village)
School has been closed here tomorrow though due to expected bad storms coming through and DD17's meet has been postponed.

Stay safe, Linda. After a weird November & December, unseasonably warm and very little snow, we had a snowfall last night (only about an inch) and are about to step into a polar vortex here, with temps near -40 predicted. Canadians think we are tough, but this is quite the weather about face... Happy New Year, kellyr21! Seeing the rosebowl float up close and personal must have been amazing. Did you get some photos? Dh has been under the weather since Saturday evening. Upset stomach. He spent most of the day yesterday between bed and the bathroom. He was afraid to eat or drink anything, but I convinced him to drink some Gatorade and eat a bit of yoghurt in the evening. But has been up all day today, and ate a light breakfast and supper. Went to bed early though. Not sure if it was something he ate at the community supper we attended. Dd and I did not eat much of it b/c it was loaded with garlic, but dgs did and he seemed fine, so maybe it is some kind of stomach bug.

Stay warm and safe grammadee BRRRR - our storms are just wind and thunderstorms and the potential for tornadoes - it'll actually be fairly warm today (72 F). The concern here with the schools is the buses can't make it down the dirt roads if there's too much rain and FLDOT reccommends no buses on the road if winds reach 35mph - with such a big, rural district (about 800 sq miles) - many children have no alternative if the buses don't run. I hope your DH feels better soon - glad the rest of you are okay. I'm hoping to get some scrapping in tomorrow - maybe today but that's less likely

Linda , I hope you get a "down" day soon to recoup from all the work you have had going. It's your turn to take a rest. Do you think your DD will be able to return to school tomorrow? I haven't watched the east coast weather because we have carefully watched the west coast, hoping the CA kids would not have trouble getting home. Hope the storm isn't too bad. kitbop , I wondered if you were opening a crop on Friday, but things were so crazy here that I haven't touched my computer since the CA family arrived. We have really been on the run. I hope I am available when you or joyfulnana start another one. How are the covid and RSV cases at your hospital? There have been several deaths here recently...not just older folks. I hope we aren't in for a "sickie" winter. joyfulnana , what a fun day you must have had with Rudy. My autistic DGS, who lives alone, was gaining weight. The Dr. suggested exercises and could see he wasn't into that so suggested Pokeymon Go. He got so into it and lost all the weight and will often walk two towns over to get groceries in the store where he used to work. He has a car, but enjoys the game. It takes him 8 hours. grammadee , I didn't realize your DGS had a rough beginning. No wonder change is difficult for him. I can't think of any more safe and comfortable place for him than at your home with you. I am glad you and justjac got together over the holidays. I can just see you two in the scrapbook store encouraging each other. LOL. I wish we could all go with you! gramma , how is it going as you finish this last month at work? I hope it will be a relief for you to be home so you can work on all your projects. Did you finish your cross stitch angel you showed me some time ago? I had your stand-up card on my living room desk and showed it to Anj's kids. I asked if they remembered the friend that came to their house while we were visiting them. Topher piped up, yes, she bought us cookies! The whole family said to tell you "hello". Sam has written another book and sent me the first chapter. kellyr21 , as I watched the Rose Bowl parade I wondered if you got to see your city float before the parade this year. I didn't catch it in the parade because I was in and out, but was hoping you got an up close and personal look at it! I'm glad you did! How is your weather right now? We obliged the CA kids and had enough snow for snowball fights and rolling around. They were all wet and cold and had big smiles when they came in. I am scheduled for an MRI on my shoulder tomorrow morning. I am so very claustrophobic that I get anxiety even thinking about it. My Dr. gave me a drug to take before we leave home and asked for an open MRI. I hope I can do it. I totally freaked out when they tried to do one (closed MRI machine) on my brain after an episode and they had to pull me out before they even started the machine. I never returned. That was in the 80's. I hope this goes better. My physical therapy has gone well, but now I hurt in a spot that didn't hurt before. What a pain! I hope it gets better as time goes on.

nylene - I hope your MRI goes well and they are able to get you in an open MRI. (((Hugs))) I'm glad physical therapy is going well - hopefully you'll be painfree soon. Lots of rain and wind here. The street signs on top of the stop sign at the corner of our property blew off. Guess I need to call County Works Dept in the morning. We never lost power which was good. There were some scary news stories abt the tornadoes in the panhandle. I had my PT intake appt this morning and my virtual equipment arrived this afternoon - working on feet/ankles this round. grammadee - were you planning to start up the weekday crops again or is life just too hectic?

Sending positive vibes for the MRI experience, nylene . Linda , I hope to start the Wednesday morning crops NEXT week (the 17th).
Dh is feeling better today and is eating as usual. Still feeling a bit tired and achy, but looking forward to heading away for a few days. We have tickets to a curling event in justjac's city. I purchased them for him and me for our birthdays. Dd's family chipped in a hotel, and dd & dgs will be staying here looking after the house and the pets. She will drive him to school, each morning, then work from their house until he is done for the day before heading back out here.

nylene I didn't know an open MRI was a thing! I hope you can get one, and I hope you get good news. Kudos to DGS! Wow, that's a lot of walking. We play the lazy way, by driving everywhere lol. Although we did walk Sunday. kellyr21 that's so cool you saw the float up close! Linda , I hope you are getting some down time. I was wrong, our kids went back yesterday and are now out today and tomorrow for snow days lol. That is some scary weather, so good that you didn't lose power! I was worried about it here with the heavy, thick snow we got here. grammadee I hope DH is feeling better and that it passed everyone else by. It's going to be very cold here for the next week or so, I know say all the time I prefer the cold to the heat, but there are limits lol! Well below freezing, and especially below zero, is past my limit lol. Have fun at curling!! We had the biggest snow storm we've had in years today lol. Ranging from 2" to 9" depending on where you live, I was on the 3" not much side of things. But it is a very very heavy, wet snow, and looks much deeper than it is. It's weird. I did not lose power, and I'm very grateful for that. The frigid below zero stuff is moving in overnight to stay for a week. yuck. I've been planning some pages in my head to work on at our next Friday crop. I can open one, but it would be closer to 8 EST time. Or if kitbop or gramma wants to open one earlier that works too. I need to get these pages out of my head and into my albums lol.

Thinking of you nylene! I hope it goes so well for you. joyfulnana, your weather is close to mine. We started with about 3" of snow but the temp rose during the day to above zero and it turned to rain and now it's just wet and soggy. But the roads were good and slick for everyone's morning drive! grammadee - have a wonderful road trip and drive! nylene - we have covid, RSV AND influenza A popping up everywhere. The ones who get influenza A are the sickest. Crop: I should be good to open a crop at 7pm Friday. I really look forward to that scheduled time!

Stay warm! btw - if you want a pokemon go friend my trainer code is 7001 4138 6586 Crop: I should be good to open a crop at 7pm Friday. I really look forward to that scheduled time! I'm looking forward to it as well - In fact I have DH 'trained' that I have crops over lunch on Wed and on Friday evening...there wasn't a daytime crop today but he assumed there was and didn't come home for lunch so...I went ahead and scrapped anyway Got two layouts done for the travel album I'm working on and 1 more for the genealogy album. DD went back to school today. Her weekend camping trip which had already been shortened (originally Fri to Mon then Sat to Mon) has been cancelled because the river is too high to safely canoe. They're trying to plan a day canoe trip on Saturday on a different river -the only one in our area that isn't flooding/at risk of flooding. She's disappointed as her last camping trip was also cancelled due to weather.

nylene - we have covid, RSV AND influenza A popping up everywhere. The ones who get influenza A are the sickest. My friend who is a GP told me the same thing this morning. Well, it's not flu season here, but she said COVID is everywhere. One of my colleagues has it at the moment, and she has been super careful for nearly four years. She still wears a mask everywhere, and doesn't touch anything with her bare hands ever. I think my boss and I are the only ones in our team who haven't had it yet. My boss never goes anywhere, so it's not surprising that she has dodged it. On the other hand, I have been overseas, on planes, to concerts and music festivals, restaurants, pubs, on public transport etc etc etc. I'm sure I can't dodge it forever! I hurt in a spot that didn't hurt before. What a pain! Ha! Quite literally! Good luck with the MRI. My mum is also claustrophobic, and there is no way she would be able to do an MRI, without the help of some serious calming drugs!

Crop: I should be good to open a crop at 7pm Friday. I really look forward to that scheduled time! I just looked at the time in Ontario, and there appears to be TWO TIME ZONES! I am trying to work out what time it will be here when it is 7pm there. Assuming it is nearly 9pm there now, you are 16 hours behind me. So 7pm Friday would be....... [frightening clunking sounds as brain tries to work it out] 11am Saturday here.

I wish I had all the confidence in my Chiefs, but I don't. I think I like sure things, and this team is anything but a sure thing lol. Linda I love the snow but I could do without all the ice and subzero temps for sure. I hope this is the only big storm we have this winter lol.

we have covid, RSV AND influenza A popping up everywhere. The ones who get influenza A are the sickest my big kids just recovered from what was presumed to be RSV (negative for covid and flu)- DS32 had never had it before and said it hit him like a truck but it didn't last too long. The two girls had it when DD17 was a toddler, so DD23 got a milder case than her brother. So 7pm Friday would be....... [frightening clunking sounds as brain tries to work it out] 11am Saturday here. presuming kitbop is EST like me -then yes 11am Saturday for you. Just did my first virtual PT session...my back now hurts, lol. Hardest exercise was sitting down on a chair 20x...I think the standing back up 20x was the harder part tbh

Linda, I agonize with you after the PT! Hope it help you. Sorry about DD's GS event but canoeing on a raging river doesn't sound at all safe. I'm glad they use safety as the determining factor. AussieMeg, I hope you can join the online crop on Friday. I will just be home from PT so I don't know how pleasant I will be! I am so sore I wonder if I'm doing more harm than good. Enjoy that nice weather you have. We have about 5 inches of snow! DH has been out with his snowblower clearing all the walks and driveways of our neighborhood. kitbop, I am sorry to hear your area has been hit with the sickie bugs too. I hope that will lessen as winter subsides. THanks for planning the crop. I need one, not just to crop but to chat with friends. joyfulnana, I think we are getting pieces of your same storm! The CA kids were thrilled and I'm happy to have snow in the mtns so we will have water for crops next summer, but I'm tired of it already! We are on a BP study being done by our medical provider. We take our BP twice a day and it goes directly to the company. The night before the MRI our BP's were so high that they called to ask if we were having heart attack or stroke symptoms! They were understanding when we explained the situation. DH is claustrophobic too, so I know he was worrying about me. I took the meds before we left for the MRI and by the time I got there I was much more relaxed. By the time they actually got me in the tube I was just a little nervous. It was not an open MRI, but was a much bigger tube than last time. Our next door neighbor was the technician. We didn't know he worked there. That helped and the procedure went well. Thanks for all your concerns and well wishes.

I will just be home from PT so I don't know how pleasant I will be! I am so sore I wonder if I'm doing more harm than good. I've had PT done before where I was in so much pain from what they were doing, that it took all my energy and willpower to not yell out STOP at the top of my voice. So I get where you're coming from. My daughter is a PT, and she has said that she's had plenty of people who just tell her "no more!"

Sorry about DD's GS event but canoeing on a raging river doesn't sound at all safe. I'm glad they use safety as the determining factor. I am also - safety first! Glad the MRI went better than expected. Hope it brings answers. (((Hugs)) PT can be painful in the short term but if it helps longer term it's worth it. No fun during/after the sessions though. I hope you can at least say hi tonight. I ended up staying up late last night baking - DD17 reminded me that she had her first Gifted class of the year and she wanted to give her teacher mini loaves as she hadn't seen her when she was giving them out before Christmas. I had made a note about that back in December but then DD17 had the camping trip scheduled and was going to miss today so I deleted the note...and then of course the trip was cancelled and I didn't think about baking until she asked about it at 8pm... It all worked out and she was able to give loaves to that teacher and also to the NHS sponsor since she had that meeting this morning before school. ds32 facebook phoned this morning from New Zealand. He got in late yesterday morning after leaving VA on Wednesday morning (he lost a day in there crossing the date line) but spent most of yesterday catching up on sleep. So it was nice chatting with him. kitbop - I'm planning to join tonight but might be a bit late depending on how quickly (and early) I get dinner done.

Glad the MRI experience was not too excruciating, nylene. And here is to results that help in the treatment! And I hope that your PT pain begins to get under control. I had that happen when I was going for my knees. But after a few weeks, the results were really worth it in daily reduction of pain doing everyday things, as well as much better mobility. Glad your ds got to NZ safely, and that he was able to chat with you, Linda. There are no buses running out here today b/c of low temperatures, but dgs has been going to school. They live in town and he has a short 4 block walk. Our plans for this weekend changed. Dh decided Wednesday morning that he did not want to go to the curling event. He gets anxious being away from home, anyway, and the gastric bout he had last weekend combined with his worries about the extreme low temps predicted here tipped the balance toward staying home even more. It was too late to cancel the hotel for that night, so I went, stayed over, and attended the beginning of the tournament. Was able to cancel the rest of the nights at the hotel by changing the reservation when I checked in. And was able to hand over the link to the digital event passes to a friend while I was there. So... I am home. Hope to join you gals for a chat during the crop. Probably won't be crafting, but you never know. This morning I finished a card for our dgs's birthday next week. As the fourth child in the family, he knows he will be receiving a cellphone for this birthday. He asked me for a bluetooth speaker to go with it, so that will be the gift I put into the mail with this card. cell phone card by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

grammadee I’m sorry your plans had to change. Mine did, too. DH and I decided it is too cold to drive to the city to see a Broadway show (Mean Girls.) It’s especially disappointing because we had reservations for fondue and a hotel with a jacuzzi tub to celebrate my birthday a little early. Better safe than sorry though. I also got two days off work due to extreme cold.

grammadee and justjac - I'm sorry about the change in plans but it was great to see you guys last night kitbop - thanks for hosting! nylene -I hope your MRI provides answers and a change in the PT routine - that type of pain doesn't seem right. Sore muscles from working them is expected but not less mobility. (((Hugs))) joyfulnana - you were missed. Sorry work wiped you out DD17 is headed out for a day canoeing trip today. 48 now, high of 70 and windy...sounds a little chilly to me but...she'll dress appropriately and be fine
