Sorry I failed--again--to set up a daytime crop today. Dh was going to be gone all day, but again appointments got changed. I actually now have my iPad and Meet talking to each other and was able to set up a chat with justjac and our bookclub yesterday evening. I need to make a birthday card for dh for this upcoming Saturday, but before I could do that, I started clearing off my counters of Christmas crafting supplies, and ended up spending the morning sorting dies and stamps. Haven't even touched the papers, yet. The stomach bug is merrily working its way through our family. Dd was still pretty wiped yesterday, so I offered to take dgs to the arena for practice. He was fine when I dropped him off about 7:00, but I guess he woke up upchucking at around 2:00AM. He has facetimed me a couple of times, seems to be feeling alot better now. Both of them are existing on smoothies and having a quiet day. gramma and joyfulnana you are too cute with your football hype. Maybe later in the spring kitbop and I can get some smack talk going if both our teams end up in the playoffs toward the Stanley Cup in Hockey...

Happy Wednesday! It's a little cold outside but a nice day. I had a few classes this week and today I had a art masterclass on YouTube. The instructor was so good in explaining things for landscape paintings. I hope to try this style sometime this year. Every night, I watch one of my favorite landscape artist and it is so soothing and inspirational. I found another artist recently and started watching her videos at bedtime, too. Also, I worked on some art this afternoon. I started my big canvas and excited to see what happens as I work on it. nylene - Your dgd Sam is almost grown!!! Boy, how time flies! Wonderful layouts of your dggks and dgd. Your family is really growing up. linda - What a fun Girl Scout album and birthday card you made. Hope your dh had a nice bday. Your album and genealogy pages are terrific! So cool to know one of your ancestors was in the Revolutionary War. You have English roots too. Can you go back far on that side with your research? Some years ago, I was really into our family research. A family friend researched our family and she put together some notebooks full of information for us. She founds names of some of our great greats I never heard of. I was so inspired by her findings, I did some research on my dh's family. Most African American families can't find research on the their families during slavery time. But I found some records on Ron's side that went back to the late 1700's. His family has been in New Jersey for generations. So amazing for find how deep his American roots are. joyfulnana - Congrats on the Chiefs moving forward. Your QB was all business before the game when he walked into the locker room with a suit and tie and serious demeanor. Hope they win it all! grammadee- So happy you a feeling better and hope that bug leaves your family soon.

Maybe later in the spring kitbop and I can get some smack talk going if both our teams end up in the playoffs toward the Stanley Cup in Hockey... Seeing as how the Oilers have won, what, 15 games in a row right now? and have McDavid, I don't see how we can have a fair competition. Oh, wait, I grew up near VANCOUVER who are LEADING THE LEAGUE! That's how

That's awesome you were able to find his family that far back - really hard to do that! These pages are all DH's family -several of his lines go back to colonial Massachusetts, colonial NJ, Colonial NY, and Colonial Quebec. He also has one that came through Ellis Island from Denmark. Tracing his side has really taught me a ton about American and Canadian history. My side - one half is Irish-American that emigrated in the 1840s-1880s and the other half is Scottish and English and didn't immigrate (well, my dad did). I've got some of the English lines back to the 1600s but the Scottish and Irish records dry up much quicker. I've been researching for over 40 years now. grammadee - hope everyone is feeling much better soon. Tummy bugs are the worst. No worries about the crop - I scrapped anyway with an audio book playing.

Good morning Pokies! It's warmed up here -72 (22C) right now with a high of 81 (27C). Quite a difference from below freezing a couple of days ago. Hopefully those of you in the deep freeze have warmed up some as well.
Should be a quiet day here - housework, I might bake something, and hopefully make some more progress with both my photo labelling project and the big kids scrapbook - hoping to get Jan 2022 finished before the end of the month - we still on for a Friday night crop?

we still on for a Friday night crop? I sure hope so! I did a sketchy saturday to post this week, and it was nice to take a short break from my December Daily 6x8 album, BUT I really need to get it done before I start into 28-4-28 challenges. grammadee - just be careful you don't organize so well you can't find anything! I spend hours looking for my distress water colour pencils last night because I had reorganized them too well...

Hopefully those of you in the deep freeze have warmed up some as well. Lucky you!! That's warmer than it is here right now, in the middle of summer! It's a long weekend here, and we've come down to the beach for three days. It's only going to be about 22 the next three days. Of course it gets up to the 30s on Monday and Tuesday - perfect beach weather - when I'm back at work. A memory came up on my Facebook from 5 years ago - we were here at the beach, and it was 42 C !! I would much prefer 42 to 22 when I'm at the beach.

Happy Finally Friday Pokeys!! I am in for a crop tonight. And I can host as well. I'll open one up at 7:00 EST if that works. grammadee and kitbop I would love it if you talked hockey here. I really want to learn more about the game, but don't know quite where to start. I taught myself NFL Football by reading the Sporting News every week gramma are you ready? I'm excited but also slightly nervous lol. But man those talking heads all picking the Ravens is just going to fire up the Chiefs. I know lots of people are sick of both of our teams winning. No matter who wins, both of these games should be close and exciting! kellyr21 what a story to the Rams-Lions - I had no idea until last weekend that the quarterbacks were traded for each other. Linda your GS pages are lovely! She looks like she enjoys scouting. We are still in the 30's here. It's rained everyday since the temps got above freezing (I'm very happy all this rain isn't ice) but there has been no sun for almost 2 weeks and man I'm feeling that.

AussieMeg - I hope it's a little warmer than predicted for your beach weekend. joyfulnana - rainy here since the temps went up also so while it's hot, it's not sunny. Thank you - she is enjoying this high adventure troop. kitbop and joyfulnana - see you around 7 EST - I'll be working on some late Dec 2021/early Jan 2022 photos from Virginia

Hi Pokeys. I had a stressful couple of days at work, but that part is over thank goodness. My grade 12 students have to take provincial exams for their English, Math, and Science because I am not accredited (you have to have a lot of university credits in one area and since I teach everything I don't have those.) I'm the only teacher here that does provincial exams and our vice principal who knew all the ins and outs of computer registration retired. It turns out my students were not registered to get the exams this year. I spent a lot of time phoning and emailing and the exams finally arrived via email instead of in the mail which was a whole different issue. Anyway the exams were written yesterday. Big sigh of relief. I had book club Tuesday (but I hadn't read the book) and a hair cut Wednesday, so I am ready for a weekend. joyfulnana I technically can talk hockey but I don't really follow it. I also technically know the rules for football and a few other sports thanks to my dad, but I don't know any of the players for anything unless they're super famous or it's curling which is pretty niche. AussieMeg most days 22C is my ideal, but I agree it's a little cool for the beach. We're actually supposed to be above freezing next wee which is weird for this time of year. Linda what is usual for you this time of year? kellyr21 I am excited to see what you paint next. I have an online workshop this weekend called Book of Me Bootcamp. We're also off to a nearby town to meet friends for a Robbie Burns night event Saturday. I hope to see you for a bit tonight at the online crop.

what is usual for you this time of year? January is our coldest month and the average low is 45 (7C) and the average high is 68 (20) with about 7 days of rain. So last weekend we were much colder than average and yesterday much warmer. Anyway the exams were written yesterday. Big sigh of relief. yay!

grammadee - just be careful you don't organize so well you can't find anything! I spend hours looking for my distress water colour pencils last night because I had reorganized them too well... I think I figured out the problem: my left brain organizes by words/names. My right brain looks for colours/patterns/themes. I am trying to keep both sides talking to each other as I slog through this. Dies are done. Papers are done. Little diecuts are sorted, but need to be put away. Stamps are next...

justjac , I'm glad you finally got the exams your students needed and things worked out. I hope they do well on them. I didn't realize you taught so many subjects. How many other teachers are there? joyfulnana , I hope you and gramma are happy with the results of the games. I had to google to know when the Super Bowl is this year. You can tell I don't know much about it. For an elem. ed. degree we had to learn all the sports and it was really interesting to learn, but I haven't cared since. DH had a coaching degree and I thought I would be sitting at enough games to really enjoy them, but that meant he had to teach some high school classes and he taught for a year and hated it. Golf Course management really called to him. His dad ran a golf course and was the pro, but he also taught school and coached football and basketball. The sitting in a classroom was not what Steve wanted. Thanks for starting a crop tonight. I hope I can join. Linda , I wish we were having your temps right now. It has been cold here and it rains or slushes a bit each day. It makes my arthritis so miserable! I think I would like living in a warmer state in our old age! AussieMeg , do your seasons start and end the same time (relatively) only just the opposite of ours? Will your fall begin about end of March or early April? I love seeing your pages with sunshine and blue skies while it is gray here. kellyr21 , how is your big painting coming? I love all the classes you watch to build your artistic skills. You have found so many fun classes. grammadee , I love your explanation of why you can't find things. I'm going to borrow that! My DGD came to make a vinyl decorated plaque (round 19 in.) for her DSIL. We got part finished Wed. night but she decided she wanted to add another color. We did that last night and we found the release paper so sticky that we could hardly get the vinyl on the board. It was an intricate pattern and it took us all evening and lots of work. Did I take photos??? NO. I did get some of Eddie while he, his daddy and grandpa played with toys together both nights. Have a great weekend, everyone.

It's not like I know any one on the team personally. I guess it's just fun to talk a little gentle smack with someone! I do like watching a young player do well. I might even jump up from the couch and holler a bit sometimes. And just so you know for some reason I really like Travis Kelce! But if you have seen the poll on the General Board the Lions are heavy favorites.

I also am up for a crop this evening. I seem to be in a card making run - 50 so far this month for heaven's sake. My daughter saw a post on FaceBook where a group has been organized to make Valentine cards for local senior homes. Right up my alley. nylene - How's your shoulder? Vinyl is a bear sometimes. And sometimes it just almost falls together so easily. My daughter and I made this in 2019. I told her to leave the room while I laid down the tree part because I was nervous about it. It's hung on their front gate all this time. thumbnail_IMG_3093 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr grammadee - kitbop I have to have everything have it's own place and try very, very, very hard to put things in their place when I am done with them. I've been known to spend a very long time looking for a certain piece of paper only to give up and use something else only to find what I wanted originally! justjac - Doesn't it seems crazy that requirements are laid down but the follow through is lacking!! Glad you got your students taken care of.

grammadee, I love your sign. I wanted Megan to go home the first night and I'd have it ready the next night...I was glad she was here to help though. It took 4 hands! This is for a family party where they draw names and everyone MUST make the gifts and both husband and wife must be involved. I think they counted keeping Eddie out of the room counted for Randy's part!

Linda you had a really productive crop! These are wonderful! The embellishments are so cute and on point, the pelicans, the little houses. I really like the fireworks bursts paper on the Almost 22 and I think Home is my favorite. Dusty is welcome to any crop I host any time lol. Today is cleaning - yuck lol - and food shopping. Thinking of nachos for the game tomorrow. DS2 is coming to watch and possibly Rudy, he is ever so slightly starting to be interested in whether or not the Chiefs win lol. Cody might come eat, and he understands football but also hates it lol. I'm of course rooting for the Chiefs to win, but I really like all the teams that are left, and I'm torn about the Lions. That city has waited sooo long for a chance at a SuperBowl. It was so good to see you all last night, if felt like it had been forever that I've made it to a crop.

Such a lovely batch of pages, Linda! You looked so busy last night I never even asked you how you were. Did you get a new haircut? It was nice to quickly touch base with you ladies. Did you book your cruise, gramma? If we all booked the same one, ANY cruise could be a Scrapbook cruise, right? I am still working on that corner cupboard before I start putting away all of THIS years' newly organized supplies. This time I am using LABELS for bins and boxes. What a concept! I can see the back corner of the cabinet now. *Just* need to go through what I pulled out this morning and the stamps I have been leaving until last. Can't believe I ordered MORE scrappy stuff this morning ! But Spellbinders had a sale. And I liked that giant snowflake that would work so well with kitbop's sketch, and... I should really just throw my credit card into that corner so the only time I can use it is if I can FIND it. Nah. That won't work. My computer and Paypal already know my card number. And my gnomies know my passwords...

Is this a scrapbooking friend who invited you on the scrappy cruise? If not , I would say go with your sister and enjoy Hawaii. These scrapbooking cruises pop up fairly regularly with different hosts. If you find you enjoy cruising, you can catch the next one.

joyfulnana I thought I should give you some smack talk to brighten your morning Brock - Brock - Brock PURDY!!!!! You mean Mr. Irrelevant? LOL if both teams get to the SB the Chiefs will make him irrelevant again lol. What do you think of Belichik not getting hired yet? Every talks about what a great coach he is, but since Brady left, I'm feeling like it wasn't so much Belichik's coaching that was so great, he was fortunate enough to have a QB with a huge chip on is shoulder with something to prove. it seemed obvious to me by the end of the season that he needed to go. And I'm not surprised no one made a real jump for him. I 3rd the idea of the Hawaii cruise first.
