This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members. If you are on a Team, complete the 4 challenges and post them on this thread for an extra 4 points.

Welcome to the new thread for January 2024! I hope you all have lots of mojo and are planning to get lots of photos scrapped this year. I look forward to a fresh year for scrapping and hope I can catch up on the stacks of photos that are calling to me. grammadee, 4th row from the stage? Wow that must have been amazing! joyfulnana, I'm sorry you have to time your trips around ball games and concerts. I'm sure it's always on your mind as you make plans. kitbop, I'm sorry you are not feeling well. I hope it doesn't last long. Em caught something when we did the school Christmas party and has just now begun feeling better. I don't know how I missed getting it. Take care of yourself and rest. scrappyrabbit, I'm glad you had a good trip home. Did Arthur do better on the ride? Linda, I hope you have a fun NYE and chat with your older 2. kellyr21, your flip through is beautiful. I love every page. Those fringes are so pretty and the folds on the last one are so much like your earrings. So pretty! It's one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing the link with us. I saw the Dr. on Friday and he is ordering an MRI of my shoulder and gave me a referral for physical therapy for my elbow. I think the elbow hurts because I have tried to do everything without using the shoulder and have overworked it. The shoulder pain is not better and it's making sleeping difficult. I'm hoping it's not something serious. Have a great New Year's Day with your family and friends!

Happy New Year! Surprises in the first 11 hours: - We not only made midnight\ but we then stayed up to play a couple more games with the kids and fell into bed at 1:30 - It snowed for the first time this year, between 8pm and midnight, so when we went outside to light sparklers it was a shock and the first snowballs of 2024 were thrown. - The house looked - like a party. Half bowls of chips and dips, tables pulled out from walls or pushed into walls, chairs and piano benches moved everywhere, prize bags and silly photo props and candy wrappers all over the floor, liquor bottles all over the counter. I got up dreading the clean up. I knew Katie would do it, but also knew that they were up past 3AM and that she wouldn't be up to start with me. To my shock, everything - everything - was put away, righted, cleaned up. I'm sure DD's BF had a good roll in this cleanup. He was vacuuming my stairs before the guests arrived yesterday. I'm really hoping to get some crafting done today! We'll play a few games together and have our prime rib supper. nylene - shoulders are the worst, so slow to heal and the worst is sleeping. Do you have a recliner you could sleep in? A lot of people I've met with bad shoulders find the recliner a life-saver. Hoping that 2024 is uneventful, healthy, healing and smooth for our beautiful Earth!

Love your morning surprise, kitbop! So sweet of them to give you a nice clear start to the year! Our year got off to a relaxing start. Dd & family had stayed the night and dgs cooked us eggnog pancakes for brunch. My late brother's wife joined us and after dd's family left for the day, she stayed and we had a nice visit. I hope to start scrapbooking today, but woke up with a blah feeling. Not sick. Just a mild headache and mild indigestion. A holiday hangover, maybe? Not from alcohol, but more the frantic activity--and maybe the chocolate and sugar?

kitbop -what a lovely surprise - snow AND a clean house! grammadee - I hope you're feeling better soon. (((Hugs))) DH went back to work today - he was home all last week. DD17 doesn't go back to school until next Tuesday but she has an away meet (Academic Team regionals) that day so won't be in classes again until the Wednesday. I didn't get any scrapping done yesterday - ran out of time during the day and after dinner was family time - playing a trivia game (Mind the Gap) - we did have to modify it a little but it was fun -and then we're catching up on some old Call the Midwife episodes we hadn't watched. I think we're a couple of seasons behind. I did get my points tallied for last quarter and photos ordered to catch up DD17's Girl Scout album. I have photos and journalling for a family history layout that I'm hoping to pull together today - it should be quick as there won't be much space for embellishing.

kitbop , that young man is a keeper to help clean up all the mess before you got up. Great surprise! Thanks for the shoulder advice. Since my back surgery in the 80's, being in a recliner is miserable for me. I need to be up straight or lying down. Any chair that reclines hurts my lower back. I hate the new reclining seats in movie theaters. I bring a blanket to put behind to make me sit up. Folding chairs at the church are miserable too - just a little too reclined. I am finding ways to get a little more comfy in bed. grammadee , I hope you are up and perking along soon. You have had a BIG December! I just caught up on some of your cute gallery posts. I love the hockey page. Linda , I'm glad DH could return to work. Is he seeing better? Is his condition painful? Your game night sounds fun. We went to bed early and missed the new year fireworks. I guess we needed the sleep. Happy New Year to each of you. I hope 2024 is a great year for everyone. Anj and family will be here tomorrow. I can hardly wait to see them. They can only stay a few days, but it will be nice.

What a sweet way to start the new year kitbop! A snowball fight and no clean up?! There's nothing better! nylene I hope they can get this figured out and you are feeling better soon. Take it easy please and enjoy your time with Anj! grammadee I hope you are getting some rest too. You did have a really big, busy December. And I'll bet you've got lots of great memories to scrap! Linda I still need to tally my points for Nov and Dec. And then start the count again lol. I cropped but didn't get the layout finished yet. Hopefully this week. Is DD ready to get back to school? I think the kids here went back today. Happy New Year to you all!! May 2024 be full of good things!

nylene - have a wonderful visit! I hope your shoulder/arm is feeling better. (((Hugs))) Dh had a good appt yesterday with his doctor -still improving, eye pressure is good, and he doesn't have another appt until Feb (so a month instead 1-2 week gaps). He had pain before the last operation but not really since which is good. joyfulnana - Yay for cropping - I think I need a Refupeas crop to jumpstart me for the new year, lol. DD17 is NEVER ready to go back to school...it's weird because she likes her classes and most of her teachers and has friends but she hates school.

Linda, that is good news for your DH!I hope it continues to improve with time. I'm glad his pressure is good too. I saw the Physical Therapist this morning. I was really dreading it, thinking it would be terribly painful. It involved a lot of stretching and electric stimulation and some deep massage. I can't believe how much better it feels. I know it will tighten up but I plan to do all the home exercises religiously. I go back again on Friday. I am hopeful that therapy is all I will need. I think I discovered the biggest reason for my shoulder pain. I got a new die for Christmas and decided to run it through my machine. I couldn't do it with either arm! I hadn't even thought that 107 Christmas cards requiring 3 dies each might be responsible. At least I hope that's the cause and it will get better if I put away the Big Shot. LOL

I don't need kitbop to tell me that repetitive stress injury IS a thing, but NOOOOO.... You CAN'T have a craft related injury. Save that for vacuuming or dish washing or... Maybe it's time to acquire an electronic die cutter? I have a Tim Holtz Vagabond, but I don't think they make those any more. Not sure what the name of the electronic Big Shot is.

OH - nylene get yourself onto Amazon and get an electric cutter girl!! I convinced myself that the cost of an electric one was less money than paying for therapy!! Enjoy your time with the kiddos - how long are they staying? Give them cookies and hugs Are we going to do a crop this weekend? I need one. I am working like a mad dog right now. January is always hard - so so much involved in year end. Reports, reports, reports. UGH! But this is the last one.

I hadn't even thought that 107 Christmas cards requiring 3 dies each might be responsible. Oh no! I can imagine this would be aggravating... last time I used my bigshot (doing felt, and my gemini jr wasn't having it...), I made DH do all the cranking and he was *complaining* about the amount of work it took. Then the machine broke, I haven't replaced it, and that project is still sitting unfinished I got my gemini jr as a frivolous Christmas present, then immediately realized it wasn't frivolous at all! Regarding a peas crop - I'm open Friday and Saturday - really open - which is a very nice feeling! Well, we're supposed to undecorate the house on Friday but I will change our date if we decide to open a crop on Friday! I can open one, just let me know availability/preference grammadee nylene joyfulnana Linda, AussieMeg, justjac scrappyrabbit

Depending on how the time difference works, I should be okay for Friday or Saturday (which would be Saturday or Sunday here). I don't think I have any plans. ETA: I just checked the weather forecast. It looks like we are finally going to get some nice summer weather, so I might end up at a beach/pool/river somewhere. I think we are doggy sitting Boris' best buddy, so we might take them to the dog beach on Saturday. It's supposed to be 32 C. nylene I think you've worked out how you got your injury! It didn't occur to me when you first mentioned it. I was certain that you had an electronic die cutter, I didn't realise that all of your amazing creations are done with a big ol' cranker!

Linda that's how DGS is too. He hates going to school but he likes everything else about it lol. And that is weird if you stop and think about it lol. That's so good that DH is doing better. I'm in for Friday evening kitbop! I'm working, 7PM EST works well for me Oh my nylene! Wow that's a lot of die cutting, I would never have guessed you were doing it manually. I hope your shoulder continues to feel better, and it's great that you figured out the cause! gramma our controller doesn't speak to people in January LOL!

gramma , how is your replacement doing with all the work and stress? Will you have to go back occasionally to help? DH was shocked at the cost of a new electronic die cutter, but I know if I decide I need it, he'll have Em order it through Amazon. Right now I am not doing much scrapping that necessitates a die cutter. AussieMeg , the weird thing is that my arm just kind of ached after all the die cutting, but got worse as I did work around the house getting ready for Thanksgiving and then Christmas. I did not think of it until I tried out my new die the other night. I have a hard time wrapping my head around going to the beach this time of year. My DD and family all did the Polar Plunge on New Year's Day, but I wouldn't consider that to be a beach event, since they have to break up the ice first!LOL Linda and joyfulnana, Alex is the same way about school. Loves the classes, the interaction with kids, etc., but just hates getting up and going to school. Funny kids. kitbop , I am feeling much better after one session of therapy. I was able to sleep even when my arm fell over my body. It's encouraging. I will hop on the crop if I can. With Anj here I never know when she will be at our home. We have to share her with Jon's family too! We take them when we can get them.

but just hates getting up and going to school. Funny kids I don't know about Alex but for DD17 a BIG part of it is the timing. She's a night owl who struggles with falling asleep and her bus comes at 704 in the morning. During break she's been sleeping past noon every day. Anxiety plays a role also

Thanks for the crop invite, kitbop. Dd & dgs & I plan to be away most of tomorrow, but I may drop in to chat after we get home. justjac and I had hoped to get together to scrap some time this week, but between our commitments to friends and family, it hasn't worked out, even on line . Planning to meet up in person with her tomorrow, but traveling with my dd, so not sure yet of when and where. While I am in town I know I also want to print photos as well as do some shopping at the LSS (I have some credit there) and burn some Michaels' gc's. Glad your shoulder is doing better, nylene. Really funny, Linda and nylene, how motivation works with and against sleep patterns! Dgs wakes up very early most mornings--except when Mom expects him to do his reading homework before school LOL. And I can stay up late if I am having fun visiting with friends or playing cards, but most nights I need to be in bed by 10:00 pm. With my own kids, during breaks from school, unless on very special occasions, I would roust them out of bed if they slept past 11:00AM. Later, I discovered that all I really needed to do was start frying bacon LOL. I have my little slave here today, helping me rearrange a bookshelf, boxing up a bunch of hardcover books to donate to the library (I read on my iPad almost exclusively now), making room for some of my albums on the shelves. Had a sleepover last night, and I will drive him into town after lunch so Mom can take him to shinny at the rink.

Linda, thank you for posting your pages big enough to read. They have so much great information and are written so they are interesting and easily read. You have done a wonderful job of researching. It doesn't matter how much indexing I do, when I see mothers who have lost children as your Susanna did, it makes me sad for them. With how far medicine has come since that time, I guess it's very understandable, but I still ache for those mothers. Great pages! grammadee, having a little helper sounds like fun. The library will love your donations. It's great that your DGS loves to sleep over and be of help to you. That's a wonderful life-long memory for him. He's lucky to have you. Anj and family are here and it's so nice to see all of them. The kids grow so much between times between visits. We are planning a big dinner on Sunday at Tori's home. It will be the first time we have had our 4 children together for a couple of years. Usually there is one who is out of town when we get together.

AussieMeg - we missed seeing you but it looks like you had beautiful beach weather! joyfulnana - a lunch date sounds perfect! I'm exhausted - it's been a long busy day and I still have stuff on my to-do. Started the day with a 2-hr phone call with my bestie - we have a monthly phone date. Then grocery shopping. And today is put Christmas away day. I've got almost everything packed up - DH will hopefully do the trees in the morning (they are undecorated - just need taking apart and boxing) and DD17 will take down the village on Monday. There are totes all over the house and my everything aches. Tomorrow we head to the city for DD's Girl Scout meeting - hoping to scrap in the evening but...

Glad you got a good start on the dismantling process Linda. We boxed up everything yesterday but the boxes are still in the middle of rooms as the storeroom (AKA laundry room) is in shambles from people pulling out boxes to wrap presents in! Gotta reorganize boxes first. Have fun with Rudy joyfulnana! AussieMeg - oooh, that looks dreamy. It's any wonder people brave all the scary animals/insects to travel down there! nylene - hoping you are able to sleep! grammadee - you are doing a LOT of grandparenting recently! It's absolutely heartwarming that you and the farm are his safe spot!
