Linda , Shakti , teacherlisa , Ryann , AussieMeg , gramma , scrappinwithoutpeas , katiekaty , stacey562 , jjpeapea , amyl , wallyagain , @petscrapper , schroemaGood morning and welcome to 2024. I'm really hoping to get a lot of crafting done this quarter. It tends to be a bit slower for me at work and it's the dead zone of winter when I tend to hibernate so that induces a lot of crafty time. I'm happy to be leading this team. And I want to do my best to encourage all of you. I'm commiting to no spend on fabric and yarn but may indulge in some scrapbook stuff. As in the past few years I'm planning on project life again. That seems to be the best project for me. I have a little bit to finish up for 2023 and then it will be onto 2024. What are you planning this year? What kinds of projects do you prefer? Any supply buying going on? Anyone subscribing to kits? Anything you want to share about what's the same or different in this new year for you is welcome. OK let's go get it, Sisters!

Happy New Year!
I was laid off last month, so I have extra time to be crafty for a bit, though I am diligently looking for a new job as well. I recently got a new storage piece for my craft room/home office/guest room, so I'm doing a lot or rearranging currently. My son came home from college for Christmas and announced that he's not taking the job he already accepted here in Massachusetts when he graduates, he's moving to Colorado with his new girlfriend and interviewing for a not-quite-as-good job with the same company in that area. He emptied his dresser already. Which is sad, of course, but also about to become overflow craft storage, mostly for things I'm destashing and the small amount of scrapbook stuff that hasn't been looked at in 20 years. Someday I will muster the courage to really look at it and either complete the three to four partial projects or finally give up and let them go.
I am predominantly a card maker. I have materials to make two matching scrapbooks of the trip my mother and I took to Italy in the fall of (gulp!) 2022. Maybe this will be the year I get to that. Maybe. See above.
I am a little bit obsessed with kits, I think. I "subscribe" to Club Scrap's card kit and Stampin' Up's Paper Pumpkin, but skip them regularly based on unboxings/sneak peeks. I follow Hero Art's My Monthly Hero and Make Yourself at Home at Joann card kits and buy them when they look interesting. I am sometimes aware of Gina K's kit releases. I do try to limit myself to no more than two/month.
I'm also really enjoying the online retreats with kits of products. I might burn myself out on these if I'm not careful -- I have three coming up in the mid-February to mid-March timeframe.
I hope to attend some in-person convention-type events this year. My SU peeps will be doing another in-person retreat for any and all crafts in Maine in April, I think, so I'll probably go to that as well.

Good morning jeremysgirl I am excited to be back after a break at the end of 2023. I did a lot of organizing and a lot of picture taking so hopefully I will be able to do a lot of creating While I was organizing I just really came down to the fact that I have too.much.stuff. It is all beautiful and amazing but I have too much. The amount of time I have available to me is short and I have been getting stressed about not having enough time to use all that I have. I cancelled a few things (one sub and a patreon and one membership). I am considering cancelling some other things both in scrapbooking and in life. I always am feeling busy and behind and I don't like that and the dumbest part of that whole thing is that I am doing it to myself lol. Anyway sorry to get so deep and off topic.I am not going to go on a freeze but am really going to think before I buy. This year I have changed sizes (8.5x11 to 9x12) although I believe I will have different sized protectors in the same album. I am keeping my AE kits and my SC stamp kit for now. I am trying to branch out, so that my albums look like I created them vs that I shopped at Ali's store lol. I am going to decide on a budget and then (most likely) shop at Scrapbook.com, and I hopefully will do well at "shopping my stash" For January I am working on my photos from Nov and December 2023 and starting OLW 2024

Thank you for leading us this quarter jeremysgirlI'm aiming to be frozen except for essentials (albums, adhesive, and the like) but I DID get a HL gift card for Christmas so... I do have more than enough stuff though. No kits here. Project wise - I'm looking at finishing up some past albums (or at least making significant progress on them) and hopefully staying somewhat up with 2024 In general I'm an 8.5x11 scrapper with the occasional 8x8 album (the current one I have going is DD17s Girl Scout album). I do a family album and an album for my two older kids (DD23 and DS32 - they live together so one album to share) plus DD17s GS album and then trip albums. I have a really big trip coming in October (to England and Scotland) so I'm trying to make a small dent in my unscrapped/unfinished trip album stacks.

jeremysgirl thank you for leading! I'm watching the Rose Bowl parade right now. A relative is in a marching band! I'm going to work on my picture order for my December Daily later tonight. (Somehow I only took 20 total pictures in November, so I put off November until now as well.) 2024 I'll be doing a relaxed pocket page album - not just special occasions but not a picture every day either. I'll be making Valentine's cards and maybe do a bit of 29-4-29 (A challenge a day for a leap year February) BUT we just told my daughter the news about early February last night - you can't go to the special needs prom ( ) because we're going on a Disney cruise ! Squeals of glee. Luckily there is a dress up night because she has been planning her special needs prom outfit for months. (My daughter is an early 30's intellectually challenged young lady...) Shakti those sons do insist on growing up and making their own decisions, eh? Most of my ink and stamp sets are Stampin' Up. My "demo" is a dynamic lady who doesn't push but is always there for us. No subscriptions here. teacherlisa Best wishes balancing things! I keep a "to do" list or chores and commitments but I put crafty time on there as well. Linda I love how your scrapping is so other oriented. My daughter enjoys looking through my albums but they're mostly just my own.

So, up until very recently I could highlight a line or paragraph in someone's post and "quick quote" it, rather than copying/quoting the entire thing. That functionality disappeared recently. Anybody know why or even know who/where I should ask?

teacherlisa it's weird I tell you because I'm in this phase of my life where I feel like I have all the time in the world and all the space in my brain now. That was a long time coming. I am still getting used to it actually and at times feels way too slow for me. So I hope both of us can find some balance. Sounds like you have the right idea about making yourself and your scrapping a priority. I just subbed to Ali's story of the month kit. I did hip kit my first year of PL. Then Elles studio. Last year Freckled Fawn. Now this year Ali. I like her aesthetic but some of the projects and products just don't work for me.

Thank you for leading our team this quarter jeremysgirl . I had a very slack last quarter, so I am hoping to get more layouts done in Q1. Mind you, I have done 71 pages from my Thailand album, but I don't really consider that scrapping. I am using a basic template with virtually no embellishments, so the pages don't take as long to do as a normal layout would take. So, up until very recently I could highlight a line or paragraph in someone's post and "quick quote" it, rather than copying/quoting the entire thing. That functionality disappeared recently. Yes, I noticed that the other day too. I just tried to do it again, and no, it's not working. I am Peaing on my MacBook. I'm going to try it on a desktop and see if, like Linda , I can still do it on that.

Unfortunately, having been laid off, I have no access to any Windows devices, unless I convince DK to let me try theirs briefly. DH's MacBook has additional browser options, so that I can try tomorrow.

Hi Everyone! I’ve never joined the a challenge before. I’m hoping this provides me some motivation to get to scrapping in 2024. I’m a chronological, 12 x 12 paper scrapper. I also make snarky cards, regular cards and Christmas tags. I need to pick up where I left off in July 2021.
I am quite chilly, it not frozen. I have a weakness for stamps, stencils, oxide inks and sprays. I don’t do any kits. I primarily order paper collections I love. I have quite a stash so I don’t “need” much!
I’m still trying to figure out how all this works. I saw where people “marked a spot” on the main thread. Do I need to do that? Any other suggestions ? I imagine I’ll have lots of questions. I’ll apologize now!

jeremysgirl, thanks for being our fearless leader this quarter. I scrap 12x12 and also make cards. I've also made some smaller (8x8) albums as gifts. I tried 8.5x11 but found it too limiting and went back to 12x12 non-pocket scrapping. I don't subscribe to any kits (never have) because I love the process of putting LOs together from what I have. I have a fairly good mid-sized stash that I'm happy with (not that I'm not tempted to add to it from time to time LOL), so I can usually find what I need in order to make my ideas come to life on a page. That said, I have been trying to use sketches more often for inspiration if/when I get stuck for a LO design instead of just endlessly searching for that "perfect something" IYKWIM. All of that to say I have absolutely NO mojo for scrapping lately...I want to, I really really want to, but something is holding me back and I need to work through that in order to be able to dive back in. (Not trying to sound cryptic or vague - I'm just grappling with some grief issues, general sadness, maybe a bit of depression...all stemming from my Dad's passing last spring.) My goal this quarter is to start small and work my way up to finishing 2 albums that are so close to being done it's a bit silly to not have finished them - one only has ~3-4 more pages left to do.

A lot of people find it more convenient to track as they work, some monthly, and then if you're like me, you scramble at the end to track all your points. LOL!

I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I understand it so well. My 2022 was almost no scrapping at all. This probably sounds insane, but it seemed like it was not right to scrapbook all the good things in my life when Esther was gone. It didn't feel good. I still hope someday I'll get back to scrapbooking that year. But when DD rolled around, I did the journaling, just the journaling and then I realized I could make the book. It felt healing some way to get out all my feelings.

And don't forget to take 10 points for every hour you spend organizing your new space. I am on Chrome on DH's MacBook and quick quoting. Darn you, Safari! I am usually very, very good about taking my tidying/organizing points -- if it's the weekend and I'm in the craft room, I count the time, since I often flow seamlessly from creating to tidying. I am such a messy crafter that I almost always have a phase where I am starting to tidy in order to find the things I need to finish the project, which are hopelessly buried. NOW, however, I can be in the craft room whenever and there's no longer a clear delineation between when it's an office and when it's the craft room. I have been dragging a few things out into the family room to go through bins, etc. So, it's going to be an interesting quarter....

Happy New Year everyone!
I documented and planned for a DD(ish) album/journal. I’ll be working on it in January (maybe past January🤷🏽♀️).
I also want to work on pages spotlighting journaling more than photos this year. I’ll be using my stash to experiment since I’m in the freezer. I’ve purged a few times and I still have more than I need.
Looking forward to cutting it up with all of you!

First of many questions, I’m sure! How do we “respond” to the challenges? Do I have to pick which ones I want to do every quarter? Or, can I work off the long list? I saw where we had to do something by January 7, and I’m not sure I understand. Certainly don’t want to let y’all down! Haha!

amyl - I'm sure jeremysgirl will be along with more detail but in a nutshell - we all submit challenges for the long list and deadline for adding them is Jan7th. Then each month we can count each challenge we meet ONCE for a point. At the end each month add up how many challenges you've met and there are bonus points. Then that resets for the next month. You can meet multiple challenges on a single project if you want

For the most part, I ignore the list. I do, or at least attempt, the SheetLoad of Cards challenge every month. Other than that, I do what I do and at the end figure out what I met.
I suspect there’s more shared inspiration in the challenges for the scrap bookers— CARDtober was a TOTALLY different experience for me than any other challenge month and also the only one focused on cardmaking.

I documented and planned for a DD(ish) album/journal. I’ll be working on it in January (maybe past January🤷🏽♀️). This is awesome. I do my journaling all month long and format it for the pocket pages as I go. Then at the end, I just print it and cut it out. I tend to be a simple scrapper in general but my DD album comes together so easily. I did mine in two days over New Year's weekend. First of many questions, I’m sure! How do we “respond” to the challenges? Do I have to pick which ones I want to do every quarter? Or, can I work off the long list? I saw where we had to do something by January 7, and I’m not sure I understand. Certainly don’t want to let y’all down! At the end each month add up how many challenges you've met and there are bonus points. Then that resets for the next month. You can meet multiple challenges on a single project if you want amyl Linda did a good job of explaining it. You can add whatever challenges you like and should if you plan to do something in particular. For instance if you really love using ribbon, add a challenge that you get one point for every ribbon you use. But if you want to add challenges, think about what appeals to you or what you have planned for the quarter. Other than that, I do what I do and at the end figure out what I met. I don't often add challenges because I am such a simple scrapper, so I just take the easy-peasy points and call it a day. amyl, you could also skip all the challenges and just do easy-peasy points. There will be a listing up at the top of the sizes and point values but it's like 20 points for a 12x12. 15 points for an 8x11 or 9x12. That sort of thing. if you have a goal for the quarter, add it as a challenge -- ou get a point for creating the challenge and a point for meeting your goal! Yes, this is what I was trying to say above. Thank you for giving amyl the encouragement.

You (and any other cardmakers) should add card-focused challenges. I do try to set ones that'll work for card or layouts with the occasional exception (journal 100+ words doesn't apply well to a card, lol) but I'm primarily a scrapbooker.

Anyone scrapping this weekend? I admit I'm in the middle of a quilt and I started a new crochet blanket. So I will probably work on those this weekend. I have a three day weekend next weekend and I've invited a friend to come scrapbook with me. So maybe I will work on my 2023 PL next weekend. I honestly think I only have 4 months worth to catch me up because I did OD and DD. So I won't add those into the album.
