HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024 to the PRETTY PAPER PARTY PEOPLE: joblackford (team LEADER, that’s ME!), welcoming grammadee , pantsonfire , boymom5 , Chinagirl828 , kitbop , natscraps , angel97701 , joyfulnana , julie5 , breetheflea , peasapie , kokomo37 , mich5481 , kkrenn to the party. Feel free to come hang out and chat here about life, crafty or not. I’m going to post this now and come back with edits and updates because I am a total zombie this morning. I’ll post about why below… ETA: Post your 2024 goals! (Or plans! Or intentions!) Are you excited for a new year of crafting? Maybe some new projects? Also, don’t forget to add some challenges on the challenge thread, especially ones you know you will achieve or intend to do. Challenges don’t have to be especially challenging either. Last time one of my challenges was to use English (or whatever your mother tongue is) on a project. Lol ETA Challenges for Q1 are here 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/143316/post-1-challenges

This is why I’m brain-energy-deficient today. I was already exhausted from 2 weeks traveling with family but crossing the dateline on NYE is just trippy. We arrived home at almost exactly the same time as we left, just before the calendar turned to 2024. I offer apologies in advance for all the mistakes I make today! http://instagram.com/p/C1kASqJLIxu

That is trippy!
I'm hoping to step out of my box and be more openly creative. I realize I tend to do the same sort of stuff and I'm wanting to do/learn more.

Hello team!
It's always weird crossing the date line from ANZ to the USA, I remember flying into San Francisco and landing half an hour after we left the airport in Melbourne. I hope you had a wonderful trip back to NZ.

Welcome back to this side joblackford! Did you get out of the airport in Hawaii at all? That is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit. Thanks for leading this quarter. My plans this quarter are to - finish my 2017 december daily; continue working on Florida trip photos and start scrapping that album (meaning, 3 albums, I'm sure!); decide on the crochet pattern for my blanket and get to work! I absolutely can figure out lots of challenges (use a mickey head; scrap a travel theme layout/card; work on a project under 12x12 in size; scrap photos older than 5 years...) that will work with my plans.

joblackford hope you had an awesome trip! Love the photos on your IG especially the once coming into Seattle. Cool to see the baseball field and Space Needle. Hi everyone. Looking forward to a productive 2024. I need to finish up a pocket layout I started Saturday. Yesterday and today is all about football. Go Blue! Michigan is headed off to Championship game next Monday.

I’m back from a vacation and gathering all the pictures from everyone’s phones! I haven’t been in a scrappy mode lately though I’ve wanted to, so I hope I can get there this year. I. Have been organizing my space and supplies so I’m ready when I have the desire. I’ve been working in editing pictures too.
My goals is to finish our 2019 school album (almost there!), 2023 DD and continue working on 2023 album. I also signed up for the Jess Forester class at SCT and hope to use those easy project to inspire me and get me back into the groove. I haven’t decided how I’ll use those- for our 23-24 school album or 2024 album and mix PL with traditional 12x12

Sounds like you have some great plans Tell us more about this crochet blanket! I love making Attic24 blankets because they don't require much thought or planning, just repetitive hooking. I have two kits waiting for me but I have to finish my Dune blanket first. We have family in Honolulu so we get to go there most years. It's a very cool place, especially if you can get out of touristy Waikiki. We had to stay overnight with the fam on this trip because of flight connections, but even without leaving the airport it's a great place to transit. The airport is mostly pretty vintage, but that means you can go outside and get a little sun and air during a layover, def helps to revive and stretch between long flights. I can never go back to changing planes at SFO or LAX. Managed to stay up until 10pm yesterday and up at 7:30 this morning. I'm starting to feel more human again

Hi Team My 2024 word is record so that means plenty of scrapbooking in 2024. I want to write down notes for layouts, so in five years when I finally get around to making the page, I know why I took the photos... It probably sounds dumb, as a scrapbooker, but I also want to take more photos (sometimes I get lazy). And I am going to try to take photos of my layouts as I complete them and post them on Flickr more consistently. I just Googled and figured out where my new phone hid the "square" photo option which is useful for taking photos of 12 by 12 layouts, so that will be helpful (although annoying because it requires extra clicks to now) in the coming year. I should go read the challenge list, and figure out what one I'm doing first...

Ah, a new year, new goals, new home . . . and the flu!!! My mom is visiting and came down with the flu during the night before NYE, 3 more of us in the household followed on NYE and NY morning & afternoon. Only DH escaped the nasty stomach bug. I'll spare you the TMI but just know it was not pretty for any of us. Both my boys (DS24 and DS18) moan and vocalize about their pain. So it's been a two nights listening to others be sick. I actually stayed in my pjs all day yesterday! Mine hit about 5 am on NY day. Back to crafty news. First goal, finish the Hawaii album (Oahu) from November 2021. Then start working on DS18's senior year. It will be mostly sports events--that's what you get when they are older, no more field trips! I'm back onboard with my JFF design team Retro Rubber, already have two cards started. My craft room is now also a guest room. So when guests are here my time and space to craft is limited. When I have more brain power I will think about adding to the challenges. Looking forward to a crafty quarter!

There's something about a fresh year and clean slate of potential. I had a mostly mojoless 2023 and want to take advantage of my excitement to craft again. I also want to finish up a couple of classes I've bought and not finished. Looking forward to being a member thanks for leading joblackford .

So here’s my goal sheet; *no buying new supplies *start and finish my dd 23 *start my puppy album (haven’t even scrapped about him yet) *start and finish my 2023 music concert album *finish my 2023 cruise album *start and finish my 2024 cruise album *do an October album. *finish my 2023 October album I have so many pictures. I started sorting and printing a few months ago which has helped me to organize projects into boxes with supplies. Basically I need to catch back up with my scrapping!

I started sorting and printing a few months ago which has helped me to organize projects into boxes with supplies. Basically I need to catch back up with my scrapping! Wow! That sounds like a big list of goals! But I remember from way back that when you're in the swing of things you can be very productive so hopefully you get a lot done but take it slow. Every little bit counts. I'm not sure if you've had a look at the challenge list yet: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/143316/post-1-challenges but the basic idea is that we get one point per month for each challenge we meet, with a bonus based on how many you've checked off. So based on your list you might want to post some challenges like 'start an album' or 'finish an album' (or both) or use a dog or concert theme on a page or scrap a photo of the ocean. You also get points for setting challenges and you'll see a lot of people have posted quite a few, but even if you wanted to add a couple that you're pretty sure you'll do you can earn a few points We have until Sat I think to post challenges on that thread. Then grammadee will compile the list for us to work from for the quarter

The time difference is only 3-5 hours, and we were getting up at 5:30 in NZ to stay closer to our body clocks. But our travel partners were on a different schedule and the trip was equal parts fun, exhausting, and shut up and let me think a moment! I wish you all the crafty mojo for 2024! Maybe that's the greeting we should put on holiday cards for Pea friends

I love that goal I hope you find some great inspiration for new projects and techniques. We're so lucky to have so many free ideas and tutorials available on YouTube and other sites. Have you ever done a project like The 100 Day Project? That can be a fun way to try new things or commit to practicing a new skill.

Hello team! It's always weird crossing the date line from ANZ to the USA, I remember flying into San Francisco and landing half an hour after we left the airport in Melbourne. I hope you had a wonderful trip back to NZ. It was fun showing my SIL BIL and nibling around the places I grew up, even though everything has changed so much it's barely recognizable to me. They found it interesting to see what it was like compared to Washington State and Hawaii, different to both, but also a little bit the same. I envied them getting off the plane in Honolulu on the morning of the 31st, able to live that day over again from breakfast-time instead of having to spend the rest of it flying like we did. But you really feel what a tiny speck in the ocean the islands are when flying the Pacific. Halfway between HNL and AKL and you're only just flying over Apia, Samoa. We used to do the long flight to LAX or SFO but it was just too long, and then the short flight to SEA in cattle class would be so wretched - no food, no screens, and so many ornery Americans on a domestic flight. UGh! Breaking the trip in HNL on Hawaiian Airlines is highly, highly recommended. Do you have any fun goals or plans for 2024?

breetheflea - record is a great word. I'm utterly devastated at what i cannot remember. I have tried journaling, but I lose interest. It's work-ish. This year, I did a reasonable job of making notes about the first half of our florida trip, but once we hit Disney it was so intense that I could only fall into bed each night. I meant to write it down when we got home, but then life resumed. It's already just a happy blur. On our road trip, DH was driving so I did make myself write a daily journal and boy am I glad I've got that to use when I scrap it! julie5 - welcome to the challenge teams! I've made peace with never "catching up". The photo gathering/printing/sorting is 100% the hardest part. I'm working on my Dec. 2017 album and once I got the photos picked and ordered it became much easier. The bigger the project, the harder which is why I haven't started my Florida album yet! angel97701 - so glad to see you are crafting again! I'm so sorry you were sick. Many bugs hitting people this past month - I know both Influenza A and gastro are going strong. I've stayed clear, but got a rotten cold on Dec. 30 to start the New Year with, but since no one else in the house was sick I got to be the whiney one! Do you think you'll change your user name so that I can learn your new zipcode?

But the new zipcode is 56468.
breetheflea record is a great word. My Hawaii album from Nov 2021 (one of my goals) is easier to put together because I did take a few notes every day.
joblackford love your photo, and you are doing a fantastic job as team leader.
julie5 That is a big list! Have fun on the journey of creativity and welcome to the challenge group.
joyfulnana Didn't know mojoless was a word, but I can claim that as well for 2023. Packing, packing, anxiety, packing, moving, unpacking . . . still not really an end in sight. Home in Oregon did not sell last year, so it is not empty yet. Nor the shops, but that is DH's issue.
Watching DS's wrestling team at an away match on FB live. They are 40 minutes from school, and we are 25 minutes the other direction. Since DH decided he would get the nasty gastro flu way after everyone else, we were home bodies today. He was up and down all night, then slept in this morning and 4 hours this afternoon, for my DH this is highly unusual. My mom and I are still slight on our appetites, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Not getting decent sleep since Sunday just makes recovery longer.
Mom will fly back to Oregon on Saturday, then I can get back into my Dream Box 2 room, and finish some unpacking, and start some crafting!

A little nudge from me and grammadee to make sure everyone has had a chance to post a few challenges on the Q1 challenge thread. The more we have, the more points we can earn. If you need any help please let us know, but hopefully the examples already posted will give you some ideas. The challneges don’t have to be complicated or unique! Tagging you all even though I know someone of you have posted already, sorry! pantsonfire , boymom5 , Chinagirl828 , kitbop , natscraps , angel97701 , joyfulnana , julie5 , breetheflea , peasapie , kokomo37 , mich5481 , kkrenn The challenge thread is here 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/143316/post-1-challenges

Thanks for posting all those challenges, folks We should have a printable list and/or spreadsheet to reference in a day or two. I still need to set up my little tracking sheet in my planner too. I have a post it note by my craft desk for crafty hours, another by my recliner for crochet hours, and I set up a planner page to write down my projects - how many cards, what size, and if I shared. I just go through the printable list at the end of each month with my projects and Flickr photos up and read the challenge list to check off which ones I did. I find that easier than checking the challenge list with each card project. (I don’t look at the challenges before I create!) Is it just me or are the boards pretty quiet?

The boards do seem pretty quiet... maybe everyone resolved not to use social media for their resolution this year. I have had a lot of time to be scrappy in the last week (I made 5 or 6 pages) but the entire post winter break schedule goes back into full swing this week so it will be seen if I can keep up the pace or not... lots of time in the car driving kids everywhere is good for listening to audiobooks, but not so great for scrapbooking...
