A new season of Amazing Race starts tonight! This will be the same as the last race as every race is an elimination round. The shows are usually 1 1/2 hours long, same as last season. Please post SPOILERS in the Spoiler link Enjoy the race around the world. EDITED TO ADD: Usually spoilers are anything outside of what is aired. West coast peas just need to be aware of time zone differences. On the other threads any details from the show are welcome, just as long as it isn’t information from a spoiler site. Thanks to Lurkingpea for helping me with a definition to what a spoiler is. I would hope that East Coast Peas are aware of time differences too. If in doubt, use the spoiler link.

Really excited for a new season... i love the amazing race... 1st leg and no team stands out as front runner favorite... no team yet that i can not stand...
I did feel bad for the 1st eliminated team... but they did make me laugh by the way they turned their car around.... lol i couldn't believe they did that...

We laughed so hard at that. 🤣🤣🤣 Love The Amazing Race and we’re so excited for a new season. So far, we like all the teams. We’re going to Puerto Vallarta next month so it was fun to see them there.

Thanks for starting the thread ~ I was just coming on to start one! We've only watched the introduction of the teams and their race to do the first challenge.

I wonder if they received negative feedback that last season was drama-free and most teams were nice to each other and fairly competent, because this season already has several teams that are annoying and just not very good.

I was folding laundry while watching so I might have missed if they said why they didn't just back up. And, I always feel bad for teams when Phil pulls this "you're still racing thing"... here they are exhausted from the previous challenges, thinking they're going to rest a bit as soon as they check in, but nope, there's Phil handing them another clue.

I just finished the episode. Sad for the brother and sister to get eliminated. (don't know their names yet).... But, I was surprised when Phil said they were eliminated because I expected them to keep racing also, since all the other teams were. And why did Phil have one more clue in his back pocket? If they had always planned to eliminate one team even though everyone else was still racing then why didn't he just have clues for all but the last team?

I remember last year the brothers with the long hair came in last during a continuing leg and they were able to keep going. I felt bad for the brother and sister, as they had waited their entire lives to go on the show and then were first out. The pilots were amazing with the way they jumped from 12th place at the detour to 4th at the pit stop - I think they'll be ones to watch.

We were surprised too when they were eliminated. Technically the first leg was still going on. It was odd.

We were laughing at the gal who didn't read the clue even though her partner told her to. So she missed putting the tie on. #1 rule in the AR: read the darn clue carefully!! I wonder how many scratches are on the bumper and fender of that car that they had to turn around.

I read online that this season was actually filmed before last season and was held back for some reason. Still kind of during Covid.

my husband said this season was filmed at the same time or around the same time as last season? I don’t see how that would be possible. There have been articles about how sometimes Phil would have a hard time getting to the mat before the first team since he was at the last location with the slower teams.

Especially since Phil mentioned that last season they went to a new country and this time Trey were going to 2 new locations. I don’t remember if the teams were actually with him when he said that. I wonder if they will be doing the private planes then?

This season was filmed late October to Mid November 2022.
Last season was filmed starting in a June 2023.
They must be on charter flights then.

Last year they explained that CBS had decided to change the format from 1 hr to 1.5 hr. for last season. But they didn't know that would be the case when they were filming. So this season, which was what they had already filmed still with the idea in mind of 1 hour shows, was held back so they could film a new season specifically with the longer episodes in mind.

We just finally got around to watching tonight, and it just so happened that earlier today I was bemoaning (once again) that so many people just don't read any more. So when the pink team didn't read I was all about it. I felt like Phil was having a great time telling everyone they had to keep going. That was a tough surprise at the end of the first leg. As for the elimination, even though it wasn't the end of a leg, the last clue did specifically say that the last team to check in would be eliminated. I wasn't sure which team would be the one to go at the end, there. I was surprised that the father & daughter managed to squeeze through. I hope things get easier for them, although the scenes from next week make it seem like it's going to be one of those wicked hot legs that's really rough on every one.

I don't believe there was any guarantee that the 1.5 hr. format would continue. So I think the show felt like if that was there only one chance at having a longer time slot, then they wanted to enjoy the ability to run a race around that. I found someone else explaining it like this just now: "Early this winter, CBS approached both “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race” about expanding to weekly 90 minute episodes for fall 2023. Rather than retroactively try to pad an additional half hour on to those already-shot episodes, van Munster, Doganieri and Keoghan decided to hit the road again and take full advantage of filming supersized installments. And that’s what they did, earlier this summer, with a new cast of contestants. Now, that just-completed race will instead serve as “The Amazing Race” Season 35, premiering September 27. The hour-long edition filmed in fall 2022 will still eventually be seen, but it has been pushed to become Season 36, running at a later date."

I thought I read that this season was filmed before last season which would mean one hour episodes. They must have just edited it to make it hour and a half. Very confusing!

I like the extended episodes since we get more time to get to know the teams. So far I like them all which is rare although I don’t remember most of their names yet.
I felt bad for the team who was eliminated since it was a life dream and everything they did to prepare. But oh my gosh…that u-turn 🤦♀️ 😂😂😂

Makes sense that one was eliminated since they did say "last to check in"....but that still doesn't explain why Phil had an extra clue left in his back pocket. If they had always planned to eliminate one team then why did he have another clue?

I'm not sure about everyone's names yet but I really like the couple who came in first, I also like the older couple Derek & Shelisa. . I'm sure I'll have a favorite in a week or 2!

Overall it was a good episode but I found 90 minutes to be a little too long. Sunny/Bizzy, the firefighter moms, said the directions for that flag challenge a million times and I am still not sure what they were supposed to do. I cannot believe they stayed with it for so long. I felt so bad for Angie from the mother/son team. From the trailer last week, it seemed like a medic was going to be called but it seems to have been a voice over from Chris of the father/daughter team...he said he didn't want to call a medic when he was sitting on the bridge. Derek and Shelisa have such great energy and are my faves right now but I like all the other teams too. Oh and Vinny from the Dating Nurses team has t quiltz just so I don't mess up, what is considered a spoiler? Anything that hasn't been televised? A certain amount of time after the show is televised to allow for different time zones? Thanks!
