I was really hoping that my first impression of the twin brothers wasn't correct, but it was. They are slackers and don't want to do the work. The constant switching between the cooking and loading the vehicle showed their lack of self discipline. They didn't even really put any effort into anything.
I read that the reason that the show is 1 1/2 hours long is due to the actor/writer strike. The reality shows could be given an extra 1/2 hour to fill viewing time due to no other shows being to and to avoid having to show re-runs of other shows.

Yeah, if the twins had stuck with the cooking challenge, they would still be in the race.

I got the impression from the beginning that the twins were only there for the fun and not very serious about the actual race, so didn't expect them to last long. However, I wasn't rooting for them to leave. There is another team I'm hoping is out very soon. Won't be sad to see the son and mother duo eliminated. He is just so condescending and know-it-all towards his mother. Has anyone else come up with favorites and/or least favorites?

The cousins are the only ones who kind of bug me. I don't feel a connection to the mother/son but I was impressed that she made it to the top of the stairs. She could be younger than I think. The father/daughter who were eliminated last week would never have reached the top.

The father/daughter who were eliminated last week would never have reached the top.I've always had a suspicion that all of these competition shows (TAR, The Voice, etc) purposely have a few weak contestants/teams so that they are weeded out early on. That leaves the stronger ones to remain on the show for a longer period of time which helps with viewership and ratings. Then again, maybe I'm overly suspicious!

What a different way to start the show, with everyone paragliding. It doesn't show how the teams get to the different places, so it must be by private planes or all on the same plane.
The last task was difficult and you really had to know how to place yourself and what is around you.

It was beautiful scenery but I agree I wasn’t exactly sure what lead up to that or maybe what was after that? It was a different way to start it. I so would have pick the puzzle on the wall rather than learning the breakdance. I would have been there all night with the dance. 😆 But I did keep yelling the answer with the first team trying to solve it. I have to agree the last task was hard and agree making sure you oriented yourself correctly was really important.

It made me go back and read information about this season, something I’ve never done before. Interesting. Just think all those teams have had to keep quiet about what happened and who won for a long time now. I bet they are happy it is finally airing. 😄

Did that last team ever finish the puzzle? All they showed was them coming up to Phil as it was getting dark. Was there a time limit on figuring it out? I'm dying to see if the lightbulb ever went off that she had the orientation completely wrong.

I'm dying to see if the lightbulb ever went off that she had the orientation completely wrong. Usually Phil will go to them if they are taking too long, so I assume they finished it. The firefighters got lucky that she was so spatially challenged! It's probably a good thing they are out, because I don't know how well he would have done with the climbing challenge in next week's preview. It looks like at least one other team is now down to only 1 backpack - so I think there are 3 teams left with only 1 backpack each (the pink nurses, the mother/son, and I think one of the married couples). I wonder if we'll start seeing that more often in future races?

I finally caught up.. 2 episodes is a lot.. plus 2 survivors.... i need to not get behind!! Lol
The guy afraid of heights last week was really funny to me... he was just like nope... not going down there... his wife was great about getting him moving... and then he did the gliding at the beginning of this week.... they didn't show how much nope nope nope he said... but i dont imagine it was easy to get him to agree... i am really sad they are out... i liked them...
The brothers... i wonder what they are like in real life... they had like no care or worry or ambition... i see that a lot in the younger people that get hired at my job... im not being ageist but there is real true line in the way people work who are like younger then 35.... they dont work hard.. they dont work overtime... they dont really care if they make quota or not... come in late or leave early... they really dont care...
Anyway... i dont want to drag out my response...
But the firefighters made me laugh with how complicated they started out making the wall puzzle... th plus omm.. double hockey sticks... lol.. they finally worked it down... just the i instead of you... i wont mind seeing them go.. they dont entertain me...
I also forgot about the married/dating women... they have not been shown much and at the dance challenge i was thinking who are they... did not even remember they were on the show...

And i really have thoughts on all the teams... the mom/son.. dating couple in pink... but i will save it for next week...
I just want to say i was excited to see mom/son in 3rd... he is trying to be ok with how slow his mom is... but it does come off condescending... i wonder why he didn't try to do the race with someone else... he really wants to compete and she just cant..

I notice with the Danny & Angie (mom/son) team and the Vinny & Amber (dating team) that neither of the women are carrying backpacks. I don't recall them mentioning it, but did they combine their stuff into one backpack so the son & boyfriend could carry everything? It sure would be easier to run around without those heavy backpacks. Danny & Angie have gotten further than I expected, she's pretty tough. I really liked the team that went home this week, kind of sad to see them go.

I was surprised he actually completed the paragliding...he did so well considering his fear of heights. But, he seemed to really enjoy it and for some reason didn't seem all that afraid while he was up in the air (unlike Leticia, who kept her eyes closed most the time )

My mom and I were watching and completely blanked out on the team with the two women. We seriously don’t remember them at all and they barely get any coverage!
I really like the mom/son team and the grandparents. Just seem like sweet people. I like Angie but her bf wasn’t very understanding and being rude to her as they were running to the next challenge while in first place. Idk he didn’t seem very compassionate.
I like the tall cousin, she seems sweet. The shorter cousin not so much but glad she didn’t quit and got the puzzle.
I liked the team that lost. He overcame his height challenge and she was very supportive of him. Sad to see them go!

I know that Vinny and Amber planned from the beginning to have only one pack. I found their YouTube "packing for Amazing Race" video... it's worth watching just to hear yourself say "wow, really? that's all they're bringing??" lol. I'm pretty good at packing and can easily go for a two-week trip somewhere with just a carry on... But wow, they went one step past that. Also, I've been watching old seasons of Amazing Race and back closer to the beginning of the show in the early seasons there were teams with HUGE backpacks, that even had stuff hanging from them (like a sleeping pad, etc.) It's interesting to watch the evolution of the backpacks as more an more teams planned not to bring as much as the early teams did.

I just read online that it toook Karishma four hours to complete the skateboard building challenge. Wow! It was time for the cousins team to go.
The dating nurses Vinny and Amber. He is so patient with her!

He is so patient with her! We find them to be just the opposite. She has anxiety which is not good if you're competing on Amazing Race and he sometimes gets impatient with her. When one member of the team is doing a challenge, the other member should stand on the sidelines and STFU! That would bug the heck out of me if my partner is constantly saying *You got this* *You're doing great* etc. with a constant barrage of comments.

The dating nurses Vinny and Amber. He is so patient with her! I don't get that feeling at all! He is quite impatient and snippy. There are times that he comes across as downright condescending - especially after they appear to have talked out things from a prior leg. I've told DH that I'm dying to know if those two are still a couple because what I'm seeing so far doesn't look like they would be. While the cousins needed to go, I did feel sorry for Karishma. It's so frustrating to not be able to figure out a solution and then the emotions and anxiety start to ratchet up and it just gets worse. Was anyone else shouting encouragement and tips to her through the tv?

When watching, I was thinking that these 2 are probably not going to make it. He’s running the race at a fast pace, as he should but she just struggles to keep up, even when he’s driving, he’s going so fast that she can’t even see what streets they are approaching and then he blames her for not being able to read a map properly

The cousins have done a few things throughout the race that bugged me, but I still felt badly for them this week. I just can't get over people not putting more effort into learning to drive a standard before racing. I don't even mean waiting to see if you're cast and then trying to squeeze in a few lessons, I mean, as soon as you decide to try for a place in the race, you start learning. Because with all of the stress and being someplace unfamiliar, you need that driving skill to not be so completely new for you.
And Vinny is bugging me more and more. Even when he's trying to sound like he's going to work on improving, it still sounds condescending to me. And when she is specifically telling him what she needs---for them to slow down or pull over to look at the map, or for him to stop shouting instructions while she's climbing, he doesn't appear to listen.
With the map, she said they were going too far north, he finally makes a show of taking over looking at the map, just to rephrase the same thing---we need to go south. Yes, that's what she already told you. Then he's like we need to cross the water, and again, she had been saying Where is the water? She knew they needed to find the water, too.

I’m really pleased with how well the mom/son team are doing. He’s good at a variety of things. The working with other teams is probably going to bite them at some point though.
The firefighters should be doing much better but they’re making dumb mistakes by not paying attention.

He annoys me so much, so I hope that is why they go home. Based on the fact that next week is a megaleg, and the promo showed her receiving medical attention for being overheated (again), I don't know if they'll make it to the mat on time. I'd much rather his strategy sends them home over her health, as I can't help but feel she would eternally feel guilty for being the reason why his dream to run on the race ended. Unlike the father/daughter team, where she was so gracious about her dad's health and just happy to run the race with him, I could see the son being a bit snippy towards his mom (most likely off camera though).

We feel the same way about Vinny. He seems impatient and harsh with Angie. She seems sweet. She did say she has to learn how to react better to what he says. Well maybe he needs to also change the way he talks to her. Grrr!
I liked the talk cousin. She seems sweet with a good head on her shoulder. And yes, if I went on this show, I would learn how to swim (if I didn’t know), stick shift driving and learning to navigate a map.

Sometimes alliances work and other times, they don't.
That car race was intense. I have been at a dirt track and the dust and heat and the intensity of everything is overwhelming. The dust is so fine and gritty and gets into everything. The race-suit is tight fitting and very warm. I was really surprised that there weren't graphic "Vomit-comet" incidents. And then to try to remember and do the puzzle in under 3 minutes is difficult. Angie was simply amazing at completing this leg.
I don't think that there has been a "put the animal parts together" puzzle before.

As an older, gramma type I have immense admiration for the Mom/Son team. She gutted it out through the race thing. And the soccer thing, I would have noped out the first time I got rolled over!!
