When ABC post debate coverage starts asking if there is talk of replacing Biden before the convention, I think thats a HUGE problem for Biden. Because if the news is talking about it, so is the public. |

As soon as Biden started talking it was clear it was going to be a rough night. His voice reminded me of how I talked for about a week after I had Covid - just a weak voice and I didn’t feel well. That is not how you want to look on tv if you are trying to persuade people that your age isn’t holding you back. Trump just rambles on, talks about how great things were, and makes things up. My main thing is that I want a Democrat to be my president. I am going to vote for Joe, but I really wish he was ten years younger.

I only caught a little bit of it and only heard him lie and not answer the question and totally just say what he wanted to say even if it had nothing to do with the question but Biden looked old and having trouble getting his thoughts together. It was painful to watch and I just have to say it again it’s hard to believe that these are the best choices. Yes I will vote for Biden as well TFG isn’t an option at all in my book but I bet some switched tonight. TFG is a good salesman slimmy but still. I only watched a small portion but it was painful to watch. |

Are you from CA? It’s a shit show here as far as I’m concerned. We don’t need HIM in charge! How is it a shit show? Education funding is way down. We have a bullet train to nowhere. So many homeless people. SF has people literally pooping on the street. Homes are ridiculously overpriced. Our local DMV’s are going to 2 days a week in person, the other 3 are “virtual”. Property taxes are super high. Gas prices are among the highest in the country. PG&E is allowed to continually screw people over for their own mistakes/fires. Really most people I know are staying for the awesome weather we have most of the year. |

But to be fair only one of them prepared and showed up for a debate. The other didn't have to prepare because he showed up to a lie, bullying, hate, rant and rave filled rally.
How could anyone debate that alternative universe bullshit without being thrown off balance. Not normal. Mind boggling.
Biden would not be my first choice by far but the alternative is frightening. Way more than the first time around as he has more revenge and scores to settle cuz that's what he's all about. Himself as the only human that matters (to him) and $$$. He sucks at both.

I also saw a video of Biden talking after the "debate" and he seemed way less tired, slow or whatever was happening. As someone(s) said in comments trump can cause ill effects to anyone around him.
Who wouldn't be thrown off to say the least with all his rambling BS? How do you debate such lunacy and word salad? You can't. Not successfully anyway.
Trump can spew out words a mile a minute because he's been doing the same speel for decades. His mouth is well lubed, never stops. It's his weapon of choice. It doesn't make sense, regurgitates much of the same rhetoric over and over, much is lies but it certainly disarms his challengers because who can process that gobbledygook. Seriously, he's raving mad. And angry too.

And befire anyone says "What has she done as VP?", she has done exactly what every other VP in history has- stay out of the spotlight and do the traditional things assigned to a VP. Biden needs to step aside so we can have a new nominee at the convention. Almost every NY Times columnist is calling for this and I agree with them. My fear from the moment I knew he was going to run again was that something would happen to his health between the convention and the election when it would be too late to replace him. Last night's disastrous performance is a precursor to what the rest of the campaign can and likely will look like if he continues. At the very least, clips of him last night will be used in campaign ads in swing states. My party will lose. The cost of losing is having a lying, vindictive dictator for president.
I hope that the people closest to Biden convince him to do the right thing and step aside. Keep Harris as VP if they must but we need someone at the top of the ticket who can win. It's the last chance to get this right.

Economists are saying that his tariffs would spike inflation. He would probably pull us out of NATO, which is unthinkable. The world is a very dangerous place right now. His supporters want to outlaw contraception, enact a national abortion ban, and I wouldn’t be surprised if IVF wasn’t on the chopping block too. He would fill the govt. with loyal toadies. We need people who know their jobs, not brainless sycophants. He expects govt. agencies to be loyal to him. That is the way that banana republics start. Those are just a few of the things that we can expect from Trump. ETA: The other thing about Trump is that he appears to have no interest in policy; what’s good for people, how it would work, all of the messy details. He makes deals, giving advantage to supporters. That’s no way to run a government. |
