Are saskatoons berries or fruit? They are berries. They grow on a couple of trees in our yard. They are about the same size as blueberries, a little darker in colour and a little sweeter. The grandkids and parents picked a couple of gallons of them on Saturday morning. I sent some fresh ones home with each family, we ate some fresh with cream and sugar yesterday, I baked the two cakes today, and I still have a half pail left to eat fresh. They are my favourite berry. What are Saskatoon berries?

very cool grammadee - thanks for the link. They do look like blueberries - that's awesome you grow them yourselves.

I just want to pop in here and send gramma lots of hugs and good thoughts! (((((hugs))))) Also, Abby seems even worse this morning. I took her to the vet as soon as they opened. They've drawn blood - he had to sedate her, she's dehydrated and he was having a hard time getting anything. She's been not really very responsive this morning. She's looking miserable right now waiting for the shot to wear off. I should know more later today or tomorrow morning. I could be at work I guess while she is resting but I haven't decided if I want to do that or just take the day.

He let her come home with me, and I'm sitting here with her, keeping an eagle eye on her lol. He said we would have results probably later today since I got her in so early, if not first thing tomorrow. The thing I hate most about this, is she doesn't want to be on my lap at all. And that is so not like her.

(((((HUGS))))), joyfulnana. Hope this is something that can be remedied. Did they not put her on IV while she was out? One of our cats I was able to bring back to eating/drinking by putting water in my hand and putting her chin in it. She instinctively licked it off her chin. After getting a little water that way, she actually started licking some up from a low bowl. Have you heard from gramma? Hoping all is well.

He put an IV in for a bit. Thanks grammadee . I have been trying to use a syringe. That isn’t going well. I hope it’s something treatable. I’m definitely less panicked after having her to the vet. He gave her a tranqualizer, instead of putting her clear out. Enough to calm her down so he could draw the blood. She's still woozy from it.

joyfulnana , I am sorry that Abby is still not feeling better. We have done a lot of praying here for "grand-puppies" and other pets so I am now praying for Abby. She is definitely a part of our Pokey family. Hugs to both of you. I just returned from having a CT scan to do the measurements for the prothesis for my shoulder. I was hoping that we might have heard something about gramma . I am praying that everything goes well today for her. I may try to call later this evening. I don't want to bug her but it will relieve my anxiety to know how she is doing. Linda , I totally agree with you. This little group of online friends has been such a blessing in my life. I am loving all your layouts. How I wish I had that many photos of my children growing up. I'm sure you made the cute white/purple dress! and the missing teeth page is so delightful. I love the papers and designs you have been using lately. You are really on a roll getting those older photos scrapped. kitbop , thanks for checking in. Your visit will hold life-long memories and you will make it even better when you scrap it. Safe travels! kellyr21 , I'm glad you are still enjoying the park concerts. We have finally had some days in the 80's and they feel so good. It would be fun to sit in a park and listen to music at that temperature. Have you started your video of flower painting? grammadee , so glad the dirt bike accident was not any worse. It always seems like it's that last ride, last swing, last swim before leaving that accidents happen. I'm glad you have some ME time and that you got some garden help. I don't know how you can cook for so many so often. You are a wonder woman! We are in the middle of redoing our family room. It's a small room and we need to get DH closer to the TV. We will need to take out a loveseat and just have a recliner for him and a rocker for me. I have had all the grandchildren toys stowed in the corner and we have decided to offer them to our kids and donate most of the others. I will keep some for when Eddie, Hailey, Swayzee and Gracee visit, but just a few. Tomorrow we will go shopping for a new recliner for DH since his totally locked up and broke last night, and a "grandma rocker" for me. I wish I loved shopping more! Back to toy cleaning!

Yes, Pokeys, this group of friends is precious! Glad you are recovering well, gramma! Hope that continues. Saw the fun sports pages you posted the other day. And the Christmas one with the gnomes Good luck shopping for furniture, nylene. I hate that type of shopping, and would much prefer to order on line, but both of you will need to try the chairs for comfort, and, for the recliner, ease of operation. How is Abby today, joyfulnana? Looks like my "ME" time is coming sooner than I had wanted. The two boys from Calgary I had been expecting later this week now have other commitments and won't be able to come . The garden harvest will not be great, but it is starting. We had new potatoes and fresh peas yesterday for supper. But today I am off for a day with justjac! We will spend some time scrapping at the LSS, and attend book club this evening. kellyr21, the books we read are cozy mysteries, sort of like Hallmark Christmas movie plots, but with at least one murder to solve... Before we go to the LSS I will be printing pic's from the kids at the farm last week. Don't plan to scrap those today b/c I didn't know where to begin packing stuff I needed to scrap them. But ya never know--we WILL be in a scrapbook store LOL!

gramma - thank for checking in. I'm glad you're doing better than expected. (((Hugs))) and continued prayers nylene - Thank you. Yes, I did make that purple/white dress Sounds like a good plan for the family room - good luck shopping for the new chairs - I don't much like shopping either. joyfulnana - thinking about you and Abby this morning. I hope she's doing better. Have you heard back from the vet? (((Hugs))) and prayers grammadee -sorry about the visit being cancelled. ENJOY your day with justjac and the LSS. How fun! DH is home sick today. DD17 is supposed to be coming home - her flight has been delayed so it'll be later when she gets in than expected

Oh grammadee enjoy your day with justjac ! I think the two of you, would be so fun to go to the LSS with. Heck, it would be fun to have a whole pokey group shopping trip lol. Linda I hope DH is feeling better soon. Does DD have a ride home or will DH have to try to drive her? I agree with nylene , I am really loving your pages. gramma thanks for checking in. I'm glad the pain isn't bad, and now they can finish getting rid of that nasty interloper! How long will they let you rest before the next steps? nylene, I hate shopping too for the most part. I wonder if that is something that is age related. When I was younger shopping was a favorite thing to do lol. What happens next with your shoulder? Thanks for the prayers for Abby I could have sworn Abby was not going to make it through the night. This morning she is being like she was Sunday morning, eating, drinking moving around a little easier. I can see she is not in so much pain. But she fooled me once like this. And as much as I don't want to, I AM going to have to go back to work soon. The vet told me to check back in a hour or so as they still don't have the labs, I'm really hoping this turns out to be her thyroid. Last night I pulled out a cat LO kit from SG and started finding pictures for it. It felt a little morbid, but also comforting to be scrapping pictures of her. And man, I really miss working on 12x12 pages and felt like I found my happy scrappy place again. Maybe PL is not for me after all and that's ok

(((Hugs))) joyfulnana - I hope you hear back from the vet soon and there's an easy fix for Abby. Waiting is so hard. I'm glad you've started a layout about her - not morbid at all and I'm glad it's comforting. Heck, it would be fun to have a whole pokey group shopping trip lol. oh that would be so fun - and probably so dangerous given this batch of enablers, lol I hope you are able to find her a ride quickly with little angst or stress! TBD - I've texted her Girl Scout leader to see if she can be dropped off at home but haven't heard back yet. Her flight has just been delayed again flight has been cancelled

Oh no! I guess there's no need to scramble so hard now. But it sucks.
Abby's labs came back normal. They don't have the thyroid results yet, but I guess I'll go back to work. Feeling a little like the boy who cried wolf if she isn't dying lol. But also relieved it's nothing terminal.

joyfulnana - I'm glad the labs were normal - when do they expect the thyroid results to come in? (((Hugs))) I hope she's doing a bit better. DD17 and her group weren't able to get new flights for several days so they've decided to rent a vehicle and drive back from Minnesota. It'll be two long days of driving - about 8-10 hours today and another 12+ tomorrow. BUT her leader should be able to drop her off - we're close to an exit thankfully and on the way to where the rest of them live.

I just chatted with gramma and she insisted she almost has all her sarcasm back, which means she is doing well. She really sounds good and is so grateful for the Dr who insisted she should have a mammogram. It was a fun chat and my anxiety level has gone way down. Linda , what a long trip the girls will have getting home, but what a blessing that you won't be searching for a way to get her to your home. Has she had a good time? joyfulnana , Abby is still in my prayers. I hope whatever is bothering her is an easy fix. Pets really become part of the family, don't they. I hope she continues to do well. I am exhausted. We have made 2 trips to Goodwill and have another carload we will take tomorrow. My kitchen is full of boxes of stuff that I need to give to the kids. They will probably discard most of it (lots of 4-H projects in binders) but I can't do that. They will have to be the "discarders". We went to look at chairs after the movie, (which we really enjoyed), and they only had 3 chairs in the store that rock and swivel. One fit me perfectly, was the color I wanted, and matches the recliner that DH picked. It was a much faster trip than we expected and we are really satisfied with the result. They won't be delivered for a week, which works out well for us as we get help to remove the loveseat and find it a good home. Off to do my exercises and then tumble into bed. It's been a long day.

nylene - I'm glad you were able to talk to gramma and that she's doing well. That sounds like a very busy day for you. That's awesome that you were able to find chairs that you were happy with so quickly. Sleep tight. Yes - a long trip home for them but I think they've had a fabulous time.

My goodness, what a flurry of worry while I was struggling to find any cellular service in Wales! joyfulnana, I was so worried about Abby and am actually glad I wasn’t able to read your update until the happy ending was available as well! Our pup Poppy had an emergency a few months back and we thought she was a goner, and then “poof” she was fine. So maybe it was just a nasty virus??? gramma, so relieved everything went smoothly. What terrible worry. nylene, that’s wonderful that you found a perfect chair in record time! Linda, if you have any spare days when you come over in the fall, I 💯 recommend a Rabbies day trip (or longer): it’s a lovely way to see lovely things without having to plan! Sorry DH is ill. What timing!! could he not still drive and you run in to fetch her, or is more ill than that? grammadee, oh sad that family time fell apart New potato salad is one of my favourites and I’d like to go to market and get some Saturday but alas we have other plans. This trip has felt like the biggest “escape” I’ve ever had. I would love a few extra days and am constantly cursing myself for saying we would come back early to go to my uncles wedding on Saturday. What done is done, and is shouldn’t dwell on the “if only’s” because that was a trait I didn’t appreciate in my Mom. Be grateful for what a lovely time it was! And be grateful for family!.

Good morning my Pea friends. I am almost back to fighting form so I thought I would give ya'll an update. The last few days leading up to surgery day were filled with fear and anxiety. I was sure I was going to die, right on the operating table. I didn't. What a goof ball.
The surgery went well, the surgeon had to make a second removal to get all of the bad stuff. Then he took one lymph node for testing. Supposed to have the results of that in about a week. I'm really not in a lot of pain - more soreness that actual pain. I have full movement of my arm which I had been told that there might need to be therapy.
So in 4 weeks I start radiation - 5 days a week for 4 weeks. Then a medication that I don't remember the name of for the rest of my life.
That will take me up to two weeks before my daughter and I are taking a cruise the Hawaii. Yay!!
All in all I feel that I am a very lucky woman. This was caught early and addressed right away. I've have had great, kind, gentle medical care people around me for this whole process. And my daughter has been my rock.
So - I'm back to gluing some paper on paper this morning.
Thank you all for checking on me.

kitbop - I would love to do a tour but if we go, it'll be with my sister and BIL and she's a)very frugal and b) has organised us day by day so no opportunity. I do hope to go back over on my own or with dh in the future whether we make it there in October or not. Dh wasn't up to driving yesterday and I don't think today either. He also can't drive at night and all the delays (before the flight was cancelled) would have put them in way after dark. As it is, I don't expect her home until midnight or slightly later today. I'm very grateful that they'll drop her off at home and glad that with the route they are driving, it won't be more than a couple of miles out of their way (we're pretty close to an exit from I-75) especially since they'll still have another hour drive afterwards. Glad the trip has been so good for you. Sorry it can't be longer. Hopefully you'll have a chance to return. gramma - so glad to hear from you. Pre-surgery anxiety is 100% normal. Sounds like it went well though and with less pain and immobility than expected. (((Hugs))) I am a little frustrated at how covid is being handled - work policy is 24hrs fever-free or whatever the doctor says (whichever is longer). His PCP says well...many people take 5 days off but it's up to your work policy. VA just switched his Friday appt to virtual. He's chomping at the bit to go back because his boss and the other two at his own level are all out of town on a work training this week and he feels like he SHOULD be in the office. Thankfully he's still running a low fever so it'll be Thursday at the earliest. He looks and sounds like death warmed over so contagion aside, he has no business being at work.

gramma you sound like you are in good spirits! I'm happy you feel good enough to be back to glueing (any possibly cursing?) paper to paper again. Linda it sucks about the Covid protocols. I relate to DH feeling he SHOULD be there. I always feel that way when I'm out unexpectedly (like the past few days). What a relief that must be to know DD has a lift all the way home. And what an adventure on top of adventure for her! kitbop I'm glad this was such a good escape and great trip for you. You sound disappointed to be back and I can't say I blame you lol. Yay for new chairs that were easy to find nylene ! Ms Abby is feeling better today. Her appetite is coming back. Only wet food topped with kitty cat gravy right now to help her get hydrated. ETA: I AM cropping Friday no matter what! I hope I'll see some of you

joyfulnana - I'm SO glad that Abby is on the mend. Give her a pet from me (if she'll tolerate that, lol). So far I'm testing negative and feeling ok. Fingers crossed. DD17 etc...are still travelling - they are in Georgia. Probably a minimum of 2 more hours to here and then another hour to where the rest live. Last I heard they were still hoping to make it home tonight but with a possibility of stopping if needed. They all must be exhausted - they left at 730 central time this morning after driving until 11 last night

DD17 is home - got in just before 1am last night. Dorian (her cat) trilled so happily when she walked in. She's still sleeping - can't blame her -so haven't heard any of her adventures yet.
DH is still sick but looks and sounds much better today.
I finished up sorting photos last night. Hoping to do some scrapping today and place another photo order.

Linda, relief for having DD finally home and safe. I'm glad they could get her right to your door. I am sorry DH is still sick and missing work. I hope it clears up soon for him and that you don't get it too. Hugs! joyfulnana, so nice to hear that Abby is doing better. That will take a lot of stress off you. I really want to get online on Fri. Anj will be arriving that night, but I have no idea what time or if they will stop here before morning. I am still getting the house ready, cleaning, etc. so I may not be able to stay on long. Thanks for starting a crop for us. We have done so much "cleaning out" and have 4 stacks of stuff in the living room, waiting to have each of the kids go through it to decide what to do with THEIR stuff. Em will come by today to get hers. The others will all be around for the pool party at DS's on Sat so we should get things cleared out. We have made numerous trips to Goodwill to drop off bags. I feel "lighter" having let so much go...but the scales show I still weigh the same! LOL

Thanks nylene. I SO appreciated them dropping her off at the door. DH does seem to be feeling a bit better today so that's good news. I walked to the Dollar General to pick up a few things (milk, advil, gatorade, chicken noodle soup) this morning. Glad I went when I did - it's starting to storm now. I hope you're able to hop on and say hi on Friday but I'm sure we'll all understand if you can't. WELL DONE on clearing out so much - it's a lot of work but it really does feel lighter when you've done it. And I wish my mum had done a bit of clearing out. We have a decluttering and organising thread on the other board if you want encouragement... joyfulnana - how is Abby today?

Good evening Pokeys! hoping Abby is finally making a recovery, joyfulnana. Our old cat never went back to "normal' food after he had his last stint of special canned food to tempt him to eat after he was ill. Just sayin'... Glad your dd is home safe, Linda. And that your dh is feeling better. Sounds like you have been super busy, nylene. Hope you can get some rest before the kids get there. And kitbop, welcome home! Sorry I didn't check in for a couple of days. My gut decided to attack me again Tuesday afternoon. Got home, had a terrible night, then got dh to run me into outpatients Wednesday morning. We did not realize that to cover summer hours for staff that our local hospital had cancelled outpatients on Wednesdays. So dd drove me to the next town. They gave me much the same treatment as locally, including doing xrays. The doctor there decided to send me to Edmonton, via hospital transfer, for a CT scan. After a night at the city hospital I was transferred back. Symptoms seem to be gone, and I was released from hospital this afternoon. They seem to feel that these attacks are the result of scar tissue in my bowel from surgery years ago. Monday or Tuesday, I am supposed to go in for further tests, and to be evaluated for a possible non invasive treatment to rectify the problem. Hope to drop in Friday evening for a little while....
