goodness grammadee - I'm so sorry that you've been so unwell. I'm glad that you were able to be seen - although what an adventure that seems to have been - and that you're feeling better. I hope they can get to the bottom of this and rectify it. (((Hugs))) Did one more layout for a Shimelle class...

Our trip yesterday from Heathrow to JFK to Toronto was fraught with absolute misery. We queued (never gonna say "lined up" again ) for literally 4 hours of our day. We were shuffled from queue to queue trying to figure out why the system wouldn't let us check our bag, and then when Jacob and Tony were REPEATEDLY turned back at security as their "boarding pass is not valid". We're pretty sure the ticketing system glitched because both of them are "ANTHONY DREW" and when one would get validated the other would get invalidated! So, we *barely* made our plane at Heathrow even tho we were there 3 hours ahead (thank God, that hadn't been the plan but we would not have made the flight if we weren't that early!), we were running for the gate as they announced "last call for boarding". Then in JFK we were one of those families sprinting through the airport. Very very literally. It was AWFUL and we were honestly surprised we made the plane. But indeed we're home! Arrived at the house at 11pm last night (4AM London time ) but travelling WEST is so very easy compared to the jet lag of moving East. It's like Daylight savings on steroids - you set you clock ahead 5 hours and feel absolutely miserable, but setting it back and gaining 5 hours feels rather good! They seem to feel that these attacks are the result of scar tissue in my bowel from surgery years ago. I know many such people on our surgical unit! They are in for 1-2 days repeatedly, for rehydration and to make sure things improve, and then off they go! We joke around with them because we all know them so well. But I'm so sorry you've had so many attacks this past year Linda - glad your household is reunited and regaining health. Fingers crossed you don't get sick next. I love the watercolour page. It certainly suits your style perfectly, but I agree that it's a look you can often recreate with pre-made paper, rather than getting out the messy stuff. On our tour, one of our group was very ill with a nasty cough/cold, and trapped on a mini-bus I'm sure those germs were zooming happily into everyone else's noses and eyes... I have bronchitis this morning, and I'm not sure I'll be able to go to my uncle's wedding tomorrow as it's a 2 hour drive each way and a large social gathering. Honestly, would be better to stay home and recover. So my previous gripe about cutting our trip short in order to attend this wedding: well, maybe it was better that we flew yesterday while I was still not feeling too poorly, and not Saturday when I may be miserable! Looking forward to seeing some pokeys later. And glueing paper to paper!

kitbop - wow - that sounds quite dreadful at the airport but I'm glad all ended well with you making it home. Sorry about the germs and bronchitis. Hope you'll feeling much better soon. And thank you! Dh had a virtual appointment with the VA dr this morning and he's back to work. I sent him with masks because I'm pretty sure he's still contagious. At least he has his own office rather than being in cubicles. I've got some housework to tackle - laundry and cleaning out the fridge before the farm box arrives are top of the list but I've watched another class video so hoping to tackle the layout for that today also. I'm not feeling 100% though so...(GI issues not covid thankfully)

Good morning everyone. kitbop -hope you are starting to feel a bit better. justjac - you were missed last night but I hope you're having fun! everyone - hope you're all having a great weekend I woke up with a sore throat. The only covid tests we had left were expired - I tested negative but... I hope it's just a sore throat but...I'm not confident on that especially since sore throat was DH's first symptom. Sent DD17 (masked with DH waiting in the car) to do the grocery shopping and pick up more covid tests. I think it must be going around here since both CVS stores were sold out and she got the last one at Walgreens. She's never done the shopping before and rarely tags along when I do it but she did an awesome job. Hoping to do some more scrapping today...

Linda it may be outside your comfort zone but it turned out wonderfully! And now I'm chuckling at the talking vs scrapping convo we had lolol. kitbop I hope you feel better soon so that you can enjoy the days off. Abby got 3 shots this morning and some prescription urgent care food to see how she is by Monday. It's not dental, and all of her labs are good, so I don't know. No sleepover this weekend, but DGS will be here bright and early at 7:00 AM in the morning lol. DS is helping his dad move a friend and they want to start early. And considering the heat, that's the best idea. gramma how is that fire doing near you? I hope it's still going away from you.

Thank you joyfulnana. I'm being a very Pokey scrapper today... Hopefully the shots and special food help Abby. (((Hugs))) wouldn't it be nice if they could tell us what was wrong? 7am? that is bright and early but makes sense with the summer weather.

especially since sore throat was DH's first symptom My first symptom too Fingers crossed for Abby joyfulnana - keep us posted! I kept up with the SCT card event today, scrapping from 10-6 with a couple of short breaks, and ending up with 10 cards. They're nicer than they looked in their photos so I'm pleased. I think I might re-do several in my own colour choices. It kept my mind off how rough I'm feeling; my box of kleenex is not out of reach!

Good Saturday evening, Pokeys. Hoping you will start to feel better soon, kitbop, and that you don't get laid out by Covid, either, Linda. Hoping Miss Abby is soon her sweet self, joyfulnana. I had a slow morning, but managed to put together one calendar page with photos I printed Tuesday. July '25 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr This afternoon I drove 25 miles to the home I grew up in. My brother's widow still lives there, and their family traditionally holds Christmas in July, with camping on the yard, lots of visiting, a pot luck supper. This year they invited other family members to attend, so dd & family and I were there for a couple of hours. Dgs had a wonderful time. Everyone is so accepting of him, recognizing his strengths and quirks, yet ready to support him if his equilibrium slips. He is such an odd duck for 11 years old b/c he can visit as easily with octogenarians as toddlers, and there were both groups there. Someone taught him how to replace a lens on a dslr camera and let him take pictures with it all over the place. He got to hold a puppy and a baby. I took hardly any photos. Just sat and enjoyed the conversations with me and around me. Food seems to be going down and staying down, but I am taking it slowly adding things that are harder to digest, so although the food looked and smelled good, I avoided most of it, but was sent home with a plate for dh so he will be able to enjoy everything.

Good Morning Pokey's! kitbop good for you being able to craft and keep up with the SCT card weekend! I would have been whining and laying around doing nothing for sure LOL. Linda very cool pic of DS and I love seeing what he's doing. And wow! I love that layout and also the one with the kitties watching out the window. They are both awesome! I hope you evade Covid. That's cool that DD is doing all the chores. Almost sounds like she is glad to be home. grammadee your day sounds so enjoyable and relaxing. Too bad you couldn't enjoy the food, but I'm sure it's not worth the aftermath. And that everyone loves and accepts DGS. We noticed with DS1 that he was able to talk to anyone the same way, and Rudy is the same. I felt like that was due to them being only children for several years before their sib came along. I love that page. Especially the hug photo and the title. Abby really likes the prescription food. He wanted me to get at least 6 syringes of food into her each day this weekend. She has eaten nearly both 5 oz cans lol. So now I have a different problem, I can't get more of that food without a prescription and she doesn't seem interested in her regular food right now lol. I finished one more blanket and have one more to go. But I get those completion points! I have laundry on the list today and meal prep for the week, and maybe maybe finish a LO today. I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Linda - thanks for sharing the article! Funny tho...I was thinking it would be *you* (your said "the white hard hat is mine...) and my brain had to take a side step when I opened it. grammadee - your day sounds lovely. It's so nice for Mikey to be able to enjoy and experience in a supportive environment. So often that is *not* school for neurodivergent kids. Your layout is absolutely awesome. joyfulnana - I do not know if this is a good idea for Abby or not but wanted to share a food we are giving our sickly kitty which seems to be enjoyed and tolerated. It's FREEZE DRIED: expensive, about $1/pellet, and he eats 2 pellets a day plus some dry food - if Abby is only on the wet food, she'd need 3-4 pellets/day. But I'm sure your prescription cans were way more than that! We gave him a few cans of that when he was really sick and yes, he plowed through them! Our freeze dried stuff is by a company called Primal (I'm sure there are more) and all you do is crumble the "pellet" and add a bit of water or broth and it makes a wet cat food. Our vet suggested it, as the freeze drying somehow makes the food more digestible? I think I'm slightly improved today but still struggling. I do what I call the "disney test" to know how sick I am: if I were on vacation at Disney, would I drag myself to the park or stay at the hotel? Yesterday was a "stay at hotel" day. Today...maybe a half park day Yesterday's card event was exhausting and not enjoyable like normal, but it kept my mind off being sick!

I can't get more of that food without a prescription and she doesn't seem interested in her regular food right now lol Can you phone for another prescription and start mixing a syringe of that into a different wet food (or over the top) to help her make the switch back? If she normally ate dry food before, maybe soak it in something like chicken broth so it is easier for her to eat and digest? We had one old cat who refused any food that didn't have a little canned salmon mixed in. I don't think she could smell very well, and if she couldn't smell the food she wouldn't eat it.
kitbop, with the card class, I think you "dragged yourself to the Park" when maybe you needed to "stay at the hotel" yesterday. Take it from someone who regularly chooses the Park: that choice can come back to bite you! Look after yourself.

grammadee - love the layout! Such a sweet photo and you've chosen the perfect title and background paper! Sounds like a nice day with family -glad your GS had fun and it was a good environment for him. Sorry you weren't able to eat much -but perhaps wise. joyfulnana - Thank you. I'm glad Abby liked the food - will you be able to get more tomorrow for her? I know when Little Friend was on a prescription food (for thyroid) she hated it but she wasn't allowed anything else at all - not even treats. So it's good Abby likes hers. kitbop - I'm glad you're on the mend. I'm sorry the class was so tiring but I'm glad it helped keep your mind occupied. Take it easy today. I'm going to test again this evening since DD and I have dr appts scheduled on Monday and I'll need to cancel mine if I'm positive - I definitely have something going on (sore throat, headache, tired/lack of energy, a bit of a cough) but not as nearly bad as DH was earlier this week. However as he pointed out, my last booster was in Jan, his was in 2022 so that might be playing a role. Going to take it easy today - read, maybe scrapbook a little, let dd cook...

gramma how is that fire doing near you? I hope it's still going away from you. joyfulnana The fire is about 90 miles north of us and moving north/east. They are reporting 10% containment this morning. The town of Paradise was devastated in the 2021 wild fire. This one is 6.5 miles away and the town is under an evacuation warning. :-(

I finished some card sets yesterday. What in the world made me think I needed nearly 200 sets? I guess it's what kept my mind occupied and off the little "c". grammadee I LOVE that layout of your DH and the boys. kitbop I hope you are feeling better today. One grand-daughter and son-in-law have come down with Covid. I am mostly isolated from everyone now :-( Just an aside - One of my friends is in Paris at the Olympics, we chatted this morning via FaceBook messenger. She was at the Eiffel tower and I was in California. How stinkin' cool is that??

Good Monday morning, Pokeys! How are you doing this morning, Linda? And kitbop? Look after yourselves. One grand-daughter and son-in-law have come down with Covid. I am mostly isolated from everyone now :-( That's too bad, gramma. Just when you need to be feeling close to them. Technology, though, when it works, is a marvelous way to stay connected. how cool you got to video chat with a friend in the Eiffel Tower! And how are you doing, nylene? I worry when I don't hear from you for a few days. Hoping this is b/c you are having fun with family. Dsil and dgs came here yesterday morning and picked a bunch more saskatoons while I picked peas. Dgs loves to drive the golf cart, so he kept me supplied with ice water, ran other errands, and hauled me and the produce back up the hill to the house. I am still babying my gut, so while I prefer to eat both of those fresh and raw, I cooked some of each for supper last night. Not sure yet what I will be doing today. It's not that I don't have lots of options. I have raspberries to pick, peas to shell. I found a sketch last night that I can use for this upcoming Saturday and I am itching to scrap with it. Waiting for a call from the hospital to find out when my scope will be scheduled. That will determine what my diet will be and how my week will be scheduled. Think I will call them this morning so I can settle on a plan for the day. And I really need a plan. I think of myself as a free spirit, but that just means that the plans are made by ME, right?

Hey pokey's wanted to give a little Abby update. She has not stopped eating once I got her to try that urgent care food. She's eating everything I put down. Wet and dry. One of the shots he gave her was B vitamins to stimulate her appetite and I would say it worked. I can see by her posture and her eyes, that she is feeling better and not in pain. I don't know what was going on, but I hope we've turned the corner here. grammadee I've been wondering about nylene too. I hope she'll be able to check in soon. But I also hope she's busy having fun with family. gramma that is so awesome to be able to video chat with someone so far away isn't it? I think that is the best thing to come out of the internet and technology. I always feel like I've spent in person time with someone if we are on video. Like our crops I'm sorry you are isolated from your family right now, this is not the best time for that for you. But it's better they have it now and not once you are closer to the cruise! I really need to go get a booster. I haven't had one since 2022.

Just a check in to let you know we are having a great time with all the family together. The Pool party at DS's home was such a good time and just as everyone was tired the wind came up and it started raining when we reached home. The great-grands loved to climb to the top of the rock and get everyone to chant their names until they jumped. Eddie climbed up and told everyone to shush. Then in a loud voice he announced, "My mommy has a baby in her tummy!" That was news to all of us! The kids have all come to claim toys and books and things they want as we continue cleaning through cabinets. It has been fun watching them look through things and then stay and reminisce for a while. I fed the whole gang after church yesterday and was exhausted at bedtime. Our furniture is being picked up tomorrow so there will be room for our new chairs and room arrangement. Linda and kitbop, I am so sorry you have Covid. It is going around here right now too. Many people absent from church because of it yesterday. Best wishes for a quick recovery to you and your families. joyfulnana, so glad Miss Abby is doing better. She's lucky to have such a caring and considerate "mama". Hope all continues well. grammadee, I'm sorry to hear about your gut issues. I hope they can do something to help you long term. Those fresh peas look so inviting. I don't like them cooked, but love a handful raw. I'm glad you have a little helper to run errands and give you a ride back with the produce. Take it easy. gramma, how cool to chat with a friend from the Eifel Tower. When it works, technology is wonderful. Without it we would not all be friends on this website. Hope you are feeling well. Waving hello to everyone. I'm not getting any scrapping done, but taking some photos for scrapping later. Love you all!

Happy Monday! Sending prayers for everyone! What a year this has been. Hang in there everyone! nylene I will be taking pics of my new floral art and working on a new video this week. Can't wait for you all to see these beauties. Also, will be getting back to cleaning around here. My sponge mop worked great in the shower/tub area. No more bending over. LOL! It's been a while since I have done some deep cleaning for it feels rewarding ti finally have some solutions to some of the problem areas. I have been enjoying the Paris Olympics! I love Track & Field but during the Olympics, I like watching many of the events. I read there are 32 sports and I hope to see at least a little of all of them.
