Who knew? by jo.blackford, on Flickr I only brought home about 20 and thankfully we don't have 1000! I think I got most of them. We actually gave one to MIL to use for her toothpicks! A bit more classy than the plastic thing she uses and less likely to fall over. I got one card done yesterday but gluing down the backgrounds for the rest of the ones I had "drafted" felt like progress. I need to do a bunch of die cutting and stamping to build up my stash of ready-to-go sentiments. JMcG always talks about doing that when she's feeling uninspired but when I'm grumpy the last thing I want to do is wrestle with die cuts and stamp repetitively! I last about 10 minutes. Different kinds of brains... When you're feeling ill at ease or grumpy do you like being creative? Or doing something rote and manual? Or do you go all out cleaning things up to bring the world back under control? or...?

I have a four day weekend. Monday is Remembrance Day in Canada and then Tuesday the First Nation I work at is observing First Nations Unity Day. I'm heading out of town Saturday to visit family, but I hope to get time to do some scrapping this evening.

joblackford YES write it down! justjac Enjoy! Shakti Bliss! Me? I'm in Fargo ND with my mom. I drove over yesterday and had to wait to pick her up b/c her flight was delayed 2.5 hours! Cropping today and spinning wheels, yikes! Then emergency message from my sister. If you are a praying Pea please lift up my niece. She is 30 years old and pregnant with her first, about 21-22 weeks. She has a liver health issue, and as of this morning they have decided to medi-evacute her from Craig, AK to Seattle. Craig is a small community on Prince of Whales Island off of Ketchikan, AK. Her husband and FIL are hunting by boat, and they have not been able to contact him. They will medi-vac her whether or not he is able to get back to Craig in time or not. My sister, her mother is driving to Seattle from the Portland, OR area. All we can do is wait and pray!

When you're feeling ill at ease or grumpy do you like being creative? Or doing something rote and manual? Or do you go all out cleaning things up to bring the world back under control? or...? In order to craft, I have to feel relaxed enough to let my creative thoughts flow. When feeling stressed, I tend to do short tasks from a never ending list. Those might be adding up points here, or ordering items we need, or putting kitchen items away off the counter. Checking tasks off a list gives me a sense of control and helps bring me back to a place where I can relax and play.
Hoping all goes well for mother and baby, angel97701. So scary. Keep us posted.

I have determined that I have all the holiday cards I need for friends & family and for Peas. I do have a Paper Pumpkin kit to make a dozen for colleagues. Freedom! I can now ditch all the Pinkfresh holiday stuff I've been working with and am now thoroughly sick of! Hurray!
But I need to find a different project for this month's SLoC. And it's not going well -- boo! But I am finding more paper I just don't like and am ready and willing to part with...hurray!
And I'm very happy to be caffeinated and have early morning crafty time.
I absolutely head into the craft room when I'm feeling twitchy and anxious. Getting into the zone is the best way to get over it. Yes, the issue that's got me feeling that way will still be there, but the cortisol (I think it's cortisol that's the stress hormone) will have dissipated and my head is clearer, so I can deal with it in a more grounded, constructive way.

Prayers for your niece and her baby - so glad that they were able to medi-vac her and I hope all goes well. angel97701Shakti - glad you're home and feeling a bit better When you're feeling ill at ease or grumpy do you like being creative? Or doing something rote and manual? Or do you go all out cleaning things up to bring the world back under control? or...? It depends on WHY I'm feeling that way. I'm definitely a stress cleaner though but I'm also a stress eater Getting creative can help shut out external stress for a bit but sometimes my brain is too overwhelmed to craft or really settle down to anything in particular

Checking tasks off a list gives me a sense of control and helps bring me back to a place where I can relax and play. Another thing I do is little things to make things flow more easily when I am in a good head space. I make new lists, maybe of pages I want to make, supplies I want to use. I look for and print out sketches or ideas that may work for those pages. I sort the photos I have, and make a list of those I want to print when I am in town. Right now I am watching bits and pieces of the free scrapbooking summit I signed up for, printing off a couple of idea sheets. The classes are processed based rather than the techniques base classes I prefer, and many are based on Cricut use, but each day there has been one or two that resonate with me, and their instruction sheets have pic's of the finished pages Ican use as a guide later if I don't have the patience to listen to all the construction steps.

I tend to doomscroll/waste time online when stressed/anxious or I snack (this week it was tortilla chips) or both and am not very productive. Yesterday, I went for a long walk to get away from the computer and the chips...
I kind of have to make myself go sit at my desk when I'm anxious and because my instinct is to declutter or delete things (old emails, blurry photos) and not to be creative. Yes, I'm weird...
As for today, I am going to the elementary school this morning for our monthly trash pick up, and then I'm sure DH wants to go do something that involves leaving the house.
I got a new cart from IKEA (NISSAFORS) for my scrap area, I will probably spend some time trying to decide what to put on it later today. It's squarer cornered (if that makes sense) and shorter sided (words are hard...) than the usual IKEA carts used for scrapbooking storage.

The urge to "DELETE!" when stressed is not weird: sounds perfectly understandable. I remember when computers first showed up in our workspace and many of us older people fantasized about what and WHO we would delete if that button worked on tasks or people LOL!

Know that I am reading and thinking of all my Pea friends. It’s harder to respond to each as I am on my phone here. Plus spending time with Mom and SCRAPPING! 👍😊🧡
Niece is at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Medi-vac was Lear Jet to Boing field then ambulance. Specialists believe it is an underlying liver condition for Mom, not pregnancy related. Baby is fine. Will do deep dive testing and hopefully release her in 3-5 days.

I looked it up and I can see that it might make better sense for some things than the usual carts. More like two trays and a basket rather than 3 baskets. I actually turned one of the baskets upside down on my costco version to make a shelf in the middle. I saw that in Danish its called Rollwagon Nissafors which sounds more fun than utility cart.

Hopefully nothing too serious. It seems like the stress of pregnancy and the additional monitoring can lead to all kinds of conditions being noticed for the first time. Have fun with your mom.

Good morning, PEAple! Woke up this morning to almost an inch of snow on the ground. Dd & fam are supposed to be picking me up to go to dgs's hockey game this afternoon. This is Alberta, so that game will be happening: if we postponed games b/c of snow, there would be precious few games LOL! Forgot to tell you about the HAUL I acquired at the printers on Friday! I dropped off my calendar pages for printing, and as I was leaving the owner asked someone to "grab that scrapbook stuff". They went out of scrapbooking supplies years ago but I guess recently they unearthed a stack of papers about 2" thick. It's a mix of older brands, and all thin paper printed on one side, but other than the Barbie sheets, most of it is usable for me--hockey, basketball, football, stripes and dots. Most of it Paper Pizzaz or Karen Foster. He said if I wanted it I could have it for free, and of course I said I would take it! Yesterday dh was completely absorbed by two CFL semi final games and a curling tourney on TV, so I stayed in my craft room and played. Put together a couple of LO's from my leftover crop kits. Still have a few more to finish so I don't feel pressure to "catch up", like a kid as the end of a long weekend approaches and he realizes that essays don't write themselves . Okay, off to post my LO's in the Sharing Thread...

Hello from Fargo, ND! Mom and I are crafting away! I have 10 pages completely done, and brought 35 more--we will see how close I get to finishing all of them. The hostess is a Creative Memories consultant so I am purchasing a few items Niece is doing well as can be waiting for test results. I started a thread on NSBR, if you want to follow there.

I bet you'll have fun with all the sports stuff especially. I've used those thinner single sided papers to make envelopes in the past, with the pattern inside. How nice that they thought of you We have a rainstorm coming in right at the time my friend is supposed to drive us to a comedy show late this afternoon. I'm not a big fan of cars and roads, and neither is she. I'm a nervous passenger even when the driver is really confident and unbothered. Hopefully everyone else stays home on a dark wet Sunday night...

Good Monday morning! I am glad your niece is being cared for, angel97701 , and that you and your mom are getting crafty and productive. A week long crop would be HEAVEN! If I could just figure out that teleportation thing... I'm not a big fan of cars and roads, and neither is she. Hope it all went well. I have had to make friends with vehicles and roads. If I hadn't I would have needed to become a hermit out here in the bush LOL. But other drivers are definitely not trustworthy, especially when there are too many on the road at one time. That's why I prefer our country shortcuts! How was the show? How is your new cart treating you, breetheflea ? Along with teleportation, I would like a Roomba that actually sorts and puts away stuff in places I can find it. Quiet Monday ahead of me before dgs arrives for a two night sleepover to give his mom a chance to work while his school is on break. I hope to join into mom 's crop later this morning. But first, I have to sort out a bunch of scrappy bedlam. Everything has its place. Unfortunately few things are actually IN their places. I usually wait until I have finished a theme to do this, but since I have been scrapping a bunch of different themes, chaos has ensued...

There was a tiny bit of hydroplaning but we made it home safely! It was a very late night for us with ferry delays but the show was very good. David Sedaris really hates people being on their phones so we didn’t take a single picture, not that we could’ve gotten one of him from the nosebleed seats. He wore a black jacket with long pockets, almost like a tail coat from the little I could see, over a white shirt with “tendrils” that he loved but he said got in the way while peeing. And what looked like a very full white pleated knee length skirt but was apparently “pantaloons”! And sneakers. No photos online that I could find so far. He told us about his audience with the Pope with lots of other funny people, and an event some years back where he was honored by QEII for picking up so much rubbish on his obsessive FitBit walks. He revealed an obsession with Duolingo - looks like he has over 1 million XP! And shared some dirty Christmas limericks that weren’t as dirty as others he couldn’t tell us Very weird funny guy. We didn’t stay for the book signing. It was way past our bedtimes. Heading out for a walk before the rain blows back in!

Hi pea team!
We had a 3 day weekend and I got 3 pages done! It’s also my birthday today, so I treated myself to a nap lol. My husband and I looked at 4 albums together so that was nice to go through some old pages and see how much we did. Hope everyone has a nice week!

Happy belated birthday, scrappyrabbit! And your three pages are amazing! Dgs (age 11) is now here for two days, and today we tackle the basement! Last month, we did a few reno's around the stairs which had necessitated the removal of all the kids' toys from under the steps. Today, we are going to go through the bins, decide what toys to keep, what to store away for any future babies or toddlers, what to discard. Then we can replace the shelves under the stairs stow the keepers in the bins that fit under there, and set the filled bins on the shelves. My plan is to have this all done by tomorrow evening when he needs to be back for hockey practice. I don't enjoy organizational tasks, mainly b/c my brain--which easily sorts ideas from top (big or important) to small--seems to have to think about THINGS from small to large, so I always feel buried in the minutia, and end up ordering and reordering into different groups. Don't know if this makes sense to you, b/c it doesn't ever make sense to ME, and seems to take way too much energy. The good thing is, with ADHD dgs around, there is no chance of my getting lost in my own head LOL.

Yes, I was just watching an organizing video that talked about this difference - some brains get bogged down in the micro where other people can easily see the macro/big picture. It's very easy to get bogged down in sorting all the little things when what would really make a difference is tossing out a couple of huge broken or unloved things! Hope you guys have a fun time on your big project

scrappyrabbit : a nap is a wonderful gift! grammadee : that sounds like a lot of work, but it will be worth it in the end! Today is kind of busy: grocery shopping, driving DD to a job interview, and high school cross country dinner/awards this evening (at least I won't have to make dinner for 3/6 of us.) DH has the day off so who knows what he'll want to do in between all the other stuff. I did some online retail therapy last Wednesday that is supposed to arrive today, so I will spend at least a little time drooling over some new scrapbook paper at some point.

Happy Belated Birthday scrappyrabbit grammadee - I love organising but I DH's brain works similarly to yours. Hopefully you and DGS can make easy work of the project breetheflea - that sounds busy - enjoy your new scrappy goodies! Hoping to join the online crop this afternoon -I didn't make it on yesterday between taking recycling to the drop-off (1 load of cardboard and then a mixed load that goes to two separate drop-offs), going out to lunch with DH and the girls, and baking a couple of batches pof blondies for DD18's match today. Debating about the EP Christmas Mystery box - I generally like their Christmas collections but it's been a while since I bought any from them so I think it would probably all be usable between layouts and cards...but do I NEED more Christmas?
