Weird coincidence! I was just posting about shingles vaccination at the same time as you. My SIL has already had shingles twice in her 40s and was told she couldn't have the vaccine until she was 50 regardless. My covid arm hurt a day longer than my flu arm this year. The Shingrix stings a lot going in and the sore arm is expected to be as bad. Hoping we don't get a lot of side effects. They say that the second dose is worse. I will go back and get the other vaccines as I am in the area of the pharmacy, as medicare pays for a pharmacy to give them by not the clinic. Give my arms a rest in between.
When DS18 got his Shingrix I was very insistent--was not approved for pediatric use. HOWEVER I was not going to have him get shingles AGAIN in the middle of high school wrestling season as it is considered contagious--plus feeling like you have the flu and are it is very painful. The clinic acquiesced and understood my rationale.

So, uh, scroll past if you don't want to hear any more Debbie Downerism from me about work.
First off, the company that laid me off a year ago did another round of cuts while I was away last week. The survivors are deeply upset.
At my current job, a colleagu e has been telling me for some time that she felt something was in the air -- some kind of shake up or something. But last week, the earnings reports were all good and our site's product was featured prominently in the company's future plans, as it has been since I started. My probationary 90 days are up and my 90 day review was "meets." All that sounds rosy, right?! But my colleague emailed me late last night to say that she learned that they quietly laid off a couple people in R&D this past week and she expects that, with much of the leadership from Illinois visiting this coming week, she expects there to be more cuts. I have no particular reason to think I'll be directly affected, other than PTSD from living through my past year. But that, plus the fact that there's still a down side to be on the surviving end of a layoff, is enough.

DH has worked at his job for 20+ years but every few months there's a big meeting and DH is constantly worried it's the one where they lay everyone off. It's frustrating. Hang in there!

Sorry Shakti. I really hope everything works out, but the stress must be taking its toll. Glad to hear you've passed the 90 day mark. Hoping for the best for you. The shingles vaccine is no joke. I usually only get a sore arm, but I felt awful this morning, everything hurt! I slept really badly. Thank goodness for painkillers and coffee! I'm feeling a bit more like myself now.

I'm sorry Shakti. I hope this all works out for you. joblackford you are right. It hurt going in, and my arm was so sore and yucky the next day. Hope you feel better soon! I've spent the day in the crop mom hosted. Fairly, productive, I caught up a couple of months of PL. I'm to June now haha. I got enough done that I should probably go ahead and tally the points lol.

Started writing this a few hours ago, but will finish it now... Hang in there, Shakti. It's always more scary after it has happened to you before. How did your interview go, breetheflea? I spent an hour this morning on the Christmas Prep crop, cutting out some pieces for my Christmas cards. Plan to start my Christmas baking tomorrow.

Working on laundry, but still need to unpack my craft stuff plus finish journaling on 7 sets of layouts.

Good morning, PEAple! How is your Sunday going?
This is a three game weekend for my hockey playing dgs, and the third game is at noon today in our local arena. I went to his games Friday and Saturday and had planned to stay home today, but he really likes to have fans in the stands, so I will prob go.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I will be away, and I want to get a start on my holiday baking this week, so thinking my next paper crafting adventure will be Saturday the 23rd card making with a couple of people in my dining room.

Another beautiful day on the lake! Sunnier this morning than 2 days ago where the fog was so thick you couldn't see 15 feet in front of you! Yesterday the wind was wicked! Blew our neighbors hot-tub winterizing cover off.
A little fatigued today, many days in a row of being out-and-about. Plus the vaccines can drag you down a bit too. The Covid arm was more tender for about 12 hours. Still have DTAP, RSV, and Shingrix. Trying to decide which ones I should do before the cruise.
Headed to the Twin Cities tomorrow, then back again on 11/20. Maybe part of my fatigue?

grammadee and angel97701 you are busy busy busy! I’m tired just reading about your comings and goings and plans. Yesterday I felt like I was hit by a bus, vaccine pains compounded by a bad night’s sleep. Today I’m almost back to normal, just a tender arm. I don’t have any extra energy to spare though. I did the bare minimum in the garden, mulching the dahlias before the rain came back, glad I already did the hard work of cutting everything back the other day. We are debating whether to replace our little fake Christmas tree with a 7ft tall skinny pencil tree. It’s so deceptive when you see it in the giant warehouse store - looks so skinny and small. But in our living room it turns out it would still be quite wide. Our current 4ft tree is 22 years old!

Happy Monday morning Pea Scrapppers: What creative papery things are you planning this week? I am hoping to make some pages this week, we'll see... I also need to make Christmas cards. I have an idea, just have to actual do the things to make it happen... Yesterday I went to drive dd somewhere and couldn't get my seatbelt to buckle (I can now but it's finicky) so I had to schedule a trip to the dealership later this week I swear my Toyota's engine will still be running (knock on wood) but everything on the interior will have died of old age. I was hoping to make it last a few more years until we don't need something that transports six people, but it might be held together with duct tape by then. DD (17) was looking through my scrapbooks yesterday looking for all her sports layouts so maybe I should work on catching up on those too.

Sending you motivation and energy vibes across the internet. I'm trying the "fake it until I make" it method... my weather app says it's going to rain for the next 8 days (fall in Washington...) and that is not helping.

I watched some Christmas planning videos this morning and realized I better get my personal Christmas cards ready SOON! I donated all of the cards I made this year. At the very least I can get the labels and envelopes ready and see how many cards I can make with the summery Christmas supplies I have (my down under folks are going to get something seasonal). I just logged in to check my health insurance for next year, something I always dread. We'd decided to downgrade the plan to save some money on premiums, but I found out they've automatically enrolled us in a lower level plan - they said it has more benefits than our current plan for less money, which sounds good. But when I looked at the cost it's only slightly less than we're paying now, so all the prices must've gotten hiked from last year I had been hoping to save a more significant amount by moving from Gold to Silver. Oh well, at least it's automatic. It's time for coffee now.

Thanks breetheflea - got my bedroom and bathroom deepcleaned, assembled a shoe rack that DH bought 3 years ago as well as a fan from 2 years ago, and had DD24 help me hang some stuff on the wall. So going to scrap this afternoon and do some more cleaning this evening. joblackford - I need to make more cards also. Sorry about the health insurance. VERY grateful that the company DH works for offers excellent health coverage at a reasonable rate

Happy Monday morning Pea Scrapppers: What creative papery things are you planning this week? I went through my albums a few weeks ago and made a list of any gaps or pages that are incomplete, including title pages. For some reason I never like the title pages I make so I tend to avoid them. My goal before the end of the year is to finish any of these pages so my albums are all completed up to 2012. I got six pages finished over the weekend (two only needed journaling), so I’m going to keep going with that project this week. Other plans for this week are to finish up a couple of school assignments and have to work Wed and Sat. I had also planned on starting to paint the living room this week, but idk, I’m not feeling very motivated to do it and I’m also second guessing the colour I chose now. I hate choosing paint colours!!

Nothing much "papery" going on here this week, breetheflea , until Saturday when a couple of people are planning to come here for a card making blitz. We will start with a couple of card kits and then morph on to our own thing. On the weekend, I pre cut some pieces using dies I bought or was gifted last christmas, so I had never played with them before. I know I will have way too much prepared for one card making day, but I know that after that interaction with other crafters I will feel super motivated to play, so having stuff on hand will be a good thing. This week I will be focussing on holiday shopping. Tomorrow I will be driving my sister in law to the city (2 1/2 hours away) for Tuesday and Wednesday appointments. I have a list of all the places I want to go while in the city, and all the things I want to purchase there. Then I also have a list for a different small city (just over an hour away) where I will be driving Thursday for book club. And I have started my holiday baking. Butter tarts are in the freezer, almond crisps are cooling on their racks in the kitchen, Christmas tree confections are drying and hardening so I can apply the white chocolate "snow" this evening. Still have several different types of cookies to produce, but these are three of our holiday staples, so it feels good knowing they can be checked off that list. Oh yes. I have lists for everything... Speaking of lists, what you are doing to organize your albums and fill in missing pages, beachy , will be very helpful for when you do decide to scrap. A list on my scrap counter has all the LO's I want to put together with the photos I have. Feels good to check em off, whether from the top, middle or bottom of the list! Too bad about your insurance costs, joblackford . Seems like everything is more expensive than it "used to be". Too bad incomes were not keeping pace. Looking forward to seeing what you do for your personal Christmas cards! Be good to yourself, Linda . Sounds like you are burning both ends of the candle with scrapping and cleaning and preparing for Thanksgiving. Okay, had not planned to write an essay. My check ins the next couple of days will be much shorter, I promise.

Good morning.
I am packing a few clothes and my shopping lists to head off to Edmonton. Will be stopping in at a LSS to pick up a set of kits I ordered. Can I pick up my order and leave without buying anything else?

Yesterday, I broke a border punch. I was done using it on my page, but springs flew everywhere so I don't think I can fix it so that was it's final hurrah. I guess breaking things is one way to shrink my stash...
Otherwise, I was not as scrappy as I planned, I finished a book, and did some errands instead.

Well no scrappy shopping today but plenty of retail therapy and some Christmas shopping at Mall of America. Did you know that to walk the entire MOA you would need at least 44 hours!!! There are multiple locations of some stores like VS, American Eagle, of course Starbucks, Coldstone, Caribou Coffee etc! Also an amusement park and 8 full service sit down restaurants.
We didn’t know where to start except at the Lego store. I found DS25 a pair of Carhart work overalls at the Carhart store. Didn’t even know there was such a thing.
Wore my mom out!!! Niece met us for dinner a a final spin towards the car. Have to find the elevators to maneuver between 3 floors!!!
Back in our room now and will crash soon.
Have a wonderful day all.

No scrapping for me today... I organized my scrap area (trying to make it look smaller without actually getting rid of anything ) and went on a ruthless purge of my paper scraps. I will probably regret the scraps purge when the scrapocalypse happens (see the NSBR board all the politics threads about the economy) and the price of scrapbook paper explodes but I also need to contain the chaos (shrug).

I wove in some ends on my blanket at craft group and glued down a few summery Christmas cards at home. I should break down the steps for my Christmas cards and see what I can get done while I’m waiting on a supply restock (and maybe come up with a plan B).
There’s a storm hitting us right now. The forecast is for the rain to be worse further south and the wind to be worse to the east and west of us but it sounds pretty bad right now. And it’s supposed to sit over us for the rest of the week.
Time to cook dinner! I’m still not used to these short gloomy days and long evenings.

My sister in law stayed in the vehicle and I just went in, asked for my order and headed back out. Only shopping I did yesterday was for Christmas gifts. Hitting the mall across from our hotel this morning, then Costco this afternoon for more Santa shopping. TTYL

Hope you're having lots of fun. We just bought a new skinny Christmas tree. My hubby seemed quite excited about it so I figured it would be a nice little treat. When we got home he said this one should last until we're 70! We had the previous one for over 20 years so he might be right.
