We not only set the clocks back an hour this week. We set the country back 50 years. The fact that people don't think a woman can run the country is abhorrent. I don't think it's all women - it was this woman and the way that Trump spoke about her and the lies he told. Don’t be silly. He’s a convicted rapist. It’s all women. |

Sadly, I think I am going to have to do a 'turtle' for quite a while until my horror turns to numbness... immerse myself in my sewing, x-stitching, read a LOT of books, and do very little - if any - social media reading/watching. The first 4 years were bad enough for me, and my relationship with my DH. I know that's not the best way to handle it, but mental health survival and all... I talked to my daughters about this. We have to put our energy into ourselves for a while. We can’t stop this and we just really don’t know what is going to happen first. On a different note, my daughter has been dating a guy the past few months who really cares about her. He voted for the first time and it was for Kamala Harris. He told her, “I am not going to lose you over this.” |

The Texas losses are making me sad too - mostly wider margins than previous elections.
My college age daughter talks a lot about wanting to move back to this area after graduating and I'm feeling like I need to encourage her to look elsewhere.

I am really disappointed in myself that again, I underestimated the level of misogyny in this country. And, of course, the racism doesn’t help. Add greed to that list because I think if it wasn’t one of your first two reasons then you voted for your pocket book and you aren’t smart enough to understand inflation, tariffs, etc. |

I'm devastated. When the economy really tanks, he will blame Biden. Everything will be Biden's fault. Trump will accept no blame. Life as we know it in this country will change. Those court cases will go away. He has control of the Supreme Court and will put more Trump loyalist on the Supreme Court in the coming years), he has the House and the Senate. No one is here to save us. I hate to be so negative, but the writing is on the wall. I'm going to go into self-preservation mode. I will not watch the news, I will stop following political social media accounts. I need to protect my peace and do what I can to protect the people I love. My conscience is clean. I voted for the more qualified person. All the people who voted for Trump will learn to regret that choice. But unfortunately, we will all suffer in the process.

I was in DC the last time he won and I remember feeling this same way although now it seems much worse because we already know what he's like. We know what he is like and we have a Maga Supreme Court. That makes all the difference.Plus now he knows what to do to stay in power! |

Okay, so speaking of not showing up, I just sent a message to someone I know did NOT vote, asking how their DH was doing because he is both a veteran and very anti-trump, and she told me they hadn't seen the results yet, but that my asking that question scared her and that she has been very stressed out.
Yet they opted not to drive the 6 blocks to their polling place with their DH to vote.
I don't get it.

Thomas and Alito will retire, for sure. Then we’re on Justice Watch regarding the health of Sotomayor. Even if she resigned right now, replacing Thomas and Alito with judges that are 40 years younger, locks the makeup of this court in for decades. Game. Set. Match. As far as that branch of government is concerned. |

Yesterday I had a big long apology written out and then it deleted before I could post it. But basically I said this-I’m sorry I didn’t understand how you all were feeling 8 years ago. I get it now. I’m sick to my stomach. As I lay in bed this morning try to figure out how to tellMy adult transgender son, he came bursting through my door screaming and hysterical. He said now I’ll never get my surgery and testosterone. And then decided to ask his dad how to contact insurance and see what’s covered and get going. His family doc recommended the askenazi gender health in Indianapolis so we will get this going. I told my oldest daughter the only way I know to get through this is to just love and support my people. And I booked a hotel room for Cincinnati pride 2025. So if any peas want to meet up, Val and I would love that.

I cannot post the words I want to say. I will just put it here instead of my social pages: you reap what you sow. I work at a church and decided last night that after the Christmas choir concert, I will be stepping back from attendance. Today is the day a small group attend a noon prayer meeting. God help the first person that says something to me. I worry about my daughter and my niece. They also worship Trump which goes against everything the Bible teaches. I told my husband today, I am done with church for that exact reason. |

I am deeply sorry for you all and angry with you. There is no way out of this. You will have to somehow find a way through.
I hope everyone is taking good care of themselves right now. Your mental health matters most in this difficult moment. Do whatever you need to do to keep going. There are so many battles left to fight. Take a moment to grieve and then regroup. Minorities need your help. Other women will too. Stock up on Mifepristone as an act of sorority, sign up to be an LGBTQ+ person's parent of choice for milestone moments, check if you can help with open-minded food drives, etc.
