This. I think if they had done this time around instead of choosing Biden and then Harris, that they could have won. Biden just wasn't a good choice from the get-go because of his age and declining health and cognition. I never did understand why they didn't search (from the beginning) for a younger, dynamic candidate that could ignite the voters and get people excited to see him/her win. Because Biden wouldn't step aside, unfortunately. It would have been nice if he had announced way sooner that he wasn't running again.

Help me navigate how I deal with my Trumper family. I'm currently having it out with my sister over the election results. Her "I love everyone regardless of color" bullshit doesn't sit well with me, especially when I have a black husband and biracial child. I just can't with these people and I'm so pissed off I can't even properly articulate things. One of my sisters voted for Trump because, she says, of the economy and the border. It's such a bullshit answer to me. I don't plan on seeing them for awhile. I'm not sure I can come face to face with them without feeling a ton of anger. My Ex-SIL keeps putting the 'care' emoji on all of my FB posts today and she's a Trumper. I want to slap her My mom keeps posting "the people have spoken" or "hopefully we can put our differences aside and make america great again" to people who have changed their profile black. She does not realize the people who are changing thier pictures have marginalized people in their life, or are women, so I think she's trying to be helpful, but shes being demeaning. I posted this when she posted her bullshit on my profile pic:

I knew it was happening. My whole family is Trump supporters and see nothing wrong with anything he does. It bothered me a ton in 2016 and 2020 but now I have a 2 year old and they sure love all over him but it feels fake as hell knowing they will vote for someone that could strip his and my husband's rights away. Not to mention Trump's just a vile, disgusting person with all of the shit he spews. Like, why would I want to associate with you or have my child around you, knowing you support this kind of filth!! I am really feeling this! I have a black son in law and biracial grandson with another baby on the way. This feels so personal. I do not want anything to do with anyone who voted for him. And my daughter is extremely high risk and had to have an emergency c-section due to pre-eclampsia and heart failure last time so the healthcare and abortion aspect is super important. As it is we can't go visit family in certain states just in case something were to happen with her pregnancy. But they want to post can't we all just get along...HELL NO. Not when you are voting against my family.

Y'all are a bunch of hypocrites. I've read numerous posts on here from Peas stating they would vote Democrat regardless who the Democrat candidate was. NUMEROUS. Yet when Republicans did the same, you call them ignorant, stupid, racist, misogynistic, etc. For doing the EXACT SAME THING a number of Democrats did. Contrary to what you believe, they're no more ________ (fill in the blank) than Democrats who supported Harris because she's a Democrat. Or women who voted for Harris because she's a woman. Or blacks who voted for Harris because she's black. Or men who voted for Trump because he's a man. Or whites who voted for Trump because he's white. I blame the Democratic Party for ensuring Trump's successful election. Are y'all REALLY so blind that you can't see that who you should be blaming for Trump's win are DEMOCRATS. Your party lost the election to Trump in 2016 when they ran a woman against him. Not just any woman, mind you, but one with a fair amount of political experience and recognition. Then they won the election in 2020 when they ran a man against him who also had a fair amount of political experience and recognition. Here we are in 2024 and the idiots making the decisions in the Democratic Party decide in their abject lack of wisdom to again put a woman against Trump. Not just any woman but one with far less political experience than the last woman that lost to him. And they gave her only 4 months to campaign. Seriously??? What they should have been spending the last 4 years doing is finding a strong male candidate that could beat Trump; but they chose not to. Not only did the Democratic Party foolishly decide to run a woman, but thousands of Democrats immediately started cheering and supporting their choice. KNOWING that the last woman they ran--one who was far more qualified than this one--couldn't beat Trump! KNOWING that the political climate in this country has become more, not less, divisive and more polarized since the 2016 election. I don't follow politics anywhere near the level that some/most of y'all do, but if I could clearly see that a woman wouldn't win against Trump why couldn't y'all? Why would you not challenge such a selection? Why would y'all not have been actively working the last 4 years to push your Party to identify a strong male candidate that most likely would win should Biden not be able to win? I understand wanting to see a great woman President. I'd LOVE it! But why on Earth would the Democratic Party take such a huge risk in such an important election? Arrogance? Ignorance? Stupidity? Quite possibly a combination of these. And why would registered Democrats applaud this as a good decision when it was clear she couldn't win? I can't think of a logical explanation. Perhaps those missing Democrat voters are men who couldn't bring themselves to vote for a woman... Rather than blaming Republicans for voting their party, y'all should be looking into why Democrats handed over the election. Going forward I'd be working my butt off to do every thing I could to ensure it doesn't happen again. Signed -- An Independent who did NOT vote for Trump I'm sorry, but Democrats saying they would vote for any Democrat is not the same as Republicans voting for Trump. It's a false equivalency. As an example - all of the Democrats on the short list for VP have more similarities than differences. They might disagree on some policies, but all of them are decent, honest, ethical people who support democratic principles. Trump is unprecedented, he is unlike any other candidate, he breaks every norm, every tradition. He is not the same as every other Republican. Without question, Democrats made mistakes. And certainly, they need to figure out how to win future elections. But Democrats did not lose the election for lack of effort. And they do not bear the majority of the responsibility for the choices of 81 million people who voted for Trump. Talk about blaming the victim. The responsibility for the outcome of the election is partly the mainstream media for their unbalanced coverage of Biden/Harris and Trump. Conservative media and social media are also responsible for not telling the truth and feeding mis/disinformation to people. But the majority of the responsibility for the election lies with the 81 million people who voted for Trump.

I have seen several posts on instagram that outline Trump’s policies and how they could affect the country. I even saw an ex-ice officer explaining that they DO arrest the criminals and that they are doing their jobs, among other points. This jnfo was out there before the election but they are making it much easier to find and digest now, when it is too late. Why weren’t they more up front before?
